Earlier this week Nintendo announced that GAME would offer a musical chest with pre-orders of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between World, and then — bizarrely — GAME backtracked and said it had nothing to announce. For those that wanted the rather fun-looking collectible, it was both confusing and disappointing.
The situation has finally been clarified, with GAME confirming that rather than the toy being included with pre-orders, it'll be a part of an exclusive Collector's Edition, currently priced at £49.99 on the UK site. In addition to the game itself and the musical chest, the rather attractive pictured box will include a 3DS eShop download code for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX and a glossy artwork poster. If you have the cash it could be a nice edition to own.
Still, it's a pity that the music chest isn't part of standard pre-orders. Let us know what you think of this deal in the comments below.

Pretty pricey... Plus most Zelda fans who have a 3DS will already have Link's Awakening like me. Pointless inclusion. I'll pass and buy the standard version.

I'm guessing the bundled DLC is an item that you'd otherwise have to buy with in-game currency and get early. Either that or an exclusive item to use. I pre-ordered this the second I saw they'd announced it on Twitter this morning and instantly downloaded the Link's Awakening you get free with it. Really looking forward to this next month now as I've really enjoyed the demos at events (and the art style is beautiful).
@Humphries90 Where did you see that? Even so, that doesn't explain what the NN functions are, so there is still a possibility it's in-game DLC as nothing has been said about what NN is for in this game.

@Volmun Can't be, as Mario Party which also comes out in november has no NN logo, which would mean Miiverse won't be out on 3DS by then.
I have never preordered a game. Is that weird? This makes me want to change that. Which is stupid, I know - it's a dinky bit of plastic with a hinge and a tinny speaker. But dagnabit, I want that placky, tacky McDonalds toy!

@LunaticPandora Judging from the item description at the link we've given (twice), I'd say the DLC is Link's Awakening. I had a "Whoa DLC!!!" moment before I read the details, too
@ThomasBW84 I suppose that makes sense, I just wish I could make out the text that's written on the shield, the picture's too small to make it out though. I take it you guys are unaware of what the NN logo is for in this game if the code is only for a VC game?

Well, I think I'll be ordering just the game then. I already have Links Awakening (the original) and I don't think all the extras are worth £18 anyway.
@ThomasBW84 Darn, I guess we'll have to wait and see. If it's a mini Four Swords multiplayer mode I'd jump for joy, but I expect it'll be something along the lines of PH/ST's Force Gem multiplayer mode.

Cancelled my pre-order with GAME. The chest is cool, but as a little freebie for pre-orders, not stuffed in with a bunch of stuff most fans already have (LA) or are not that fussed about (folded poster) so they can stick another £15 on the price. What a shame. Anyway, the game is cheaper on Amazon so I'm pre-ordering there.

Wow, pre-ordered this from game instead of shopto even though it was a few quid more, thinking a few quid for the chest was a good deal. Now they want me to pay £49.99!? Think I'll be getting the normal edition from shopto for £31.85 like I was going to before the news of the pre-order chest...
In comparison, this package makes the Ganondorf figurine edition of Wind Waker look very good value for money.
Obviously the Gannondorf figurine edition of Wind Waker HD sold well enough to make this a regular thing. So....yeah.

Already got Link's Awakening, I can print any picture of Zelda from the internet for a poster if I want to which leaves me at £20 for a music box. No thank you, not this time for me.

Weird that its only collectors edition, here in Australia, EB games (our version of game stop) is offering the chest free as pre-order for just the normal game purchase. No Collectors edition in sight.

I plan on getting this Digital like 90% of my 3DS games, like to have everything on hand without lugging extra things.
LOL DLC has turned into such a bad thing, that a small portion of the internet is freaking out/in a rage thinking it has some ridiculous 'pay extra later for the rest of the game' when instead Nintendo has treated DLC as it should be -downloadable content - for Link's Awakening DX Virtual Console

@Nautical-Rudie I assume they're saying there's more DLC in the box because the box has a DLC advert on the front of it. So if Game is sending out some DLC apart from that, it seems to imply that there's another DLC to be had.

I miss the days that Game had closed down, and these gifts were given Free on club Nintendo for those who registered their codes.
Game clearly saw this would be popular and jump at the chance of screwing people over by charging 15 pounds or more for item that was meant to be free

This is a Collector's Edition created by Game, that's why they can send the 'DLC code' out now. It's not an official Nintendo release.

I'm in the US and would buy this just for the chest....
Working it out, GAME are selling ALBW for £34.99, and LA:DX is £5.39 as a download from the GAME website. So it'd be £40.38 to buy those two separately from them, meaning you're paying £9.61 extra for the chest and A0 poster (assuming you don't already have DX).
Really, for me it'd be dependent on the build quality of the chest, and on that front I have a nasty feeling it'll be the build quality of a Happy Meal toy. Whilst my first instinct was to go for it, after thinking about things logically I'll probably pass.
And on a side note, I'm increasingly thinking GAME ripped me off when I bought Pokémon X from them (which I only pre-ordered with them to get Keldeo on White ). To order a physical copy online through their site is £32, it cost me £35 in the shop with a £5 deposit (so £40 total) and they didn't even have any of the Pokéball preorder items left (not that I'm that fussed about it, it's just the principle of the thing ). So I'm not sure as I'd want to trust them with this either...
Once again NoA drops the ball for it's fans.

i felt even more disgusted after Cabooselololol confirmed it was a preorder bonus which game have decided to charge for. i cant believe two companies i trust for years have treated us this way.

Hi guys, I just want to ask if any of you knows what to do or has been in my situation before. See, I sent an email to GAME before I pre-ordered ALBW this is how the exchange between me and GAME went:
"User Query: Good day, I saw on the internet that Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS game comes with a pre-order bonus when you preorder it from Game, however I checked your website and there is no information about the pre-order bonus. I would like to know if I will be entitled to it if I pre-order it now even without being advertised on your website. Thank you!"
and the reply I got:

NOA really needs to step up their game. We rarely get preorder bonuses for games here, and at best it's a poster or maybe a download code for a game most of us already bought anyways. I would love to have this special edition in America
I love how people are surprised every time Game blatently tries to rip people off. They're old hacks at it, they've been doing it for years. It's business practices like this that stopped me having too much sympathy for them when they nearly went bust last year.

@SirMime Little did you know that years later a fully HD beautiful version of Link's Awakening would come to the Switch with a collector's edition and all.
