Re: Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014

MaverickHunterX

I really prefer this approach the best, because it's the fastest, most direct way to get the information you want. Especially for those of us who really just want to get straight to the point: the games.

Don't care about the financial reports or market strategies or stage actors pretending to have "fun". I just want to see the games. Give me a new trailer and a release date, and I'm set.

Re: Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 13th February

MaverickHunterX

It's about damn time!
This may the first ND I get to watch while I'm not at work.

For this ND, I'm expecting a reiteration of MK8's release date, more info on Smash Bros, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Mario Golf, maybe another trailer for DKC:TF, and Yoshi's New Island...that's about it.

Just like a few of the others on this site, I'm keeping my expectations low.
Though, I do hope for a few surprises.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on Satoru Iwata's Nintendo Strategies

MaverickHunterX

In my opinion, Mario Kart 8 definitely NEEDS to be out earlier, like either March or April. I agree with what Williaint said--as good as DKC:TR will be it's NOT Mario Kart. Mario Kart is more or less Nintendo's Call of Duty, that game just moves consoles. Hell, MKWii is STILL moving Wiis after all this time.

Now Smash Bros U/3DS, that should be released in May. Yarn Yoshi, Monolithsoft's X, Bayonetta 2, and Hyrule Warriors need to be out this year.

And while it is interesting that Nintendo has decided to release DS titles on the WiiU Virtual Console, they SHOULD really be releasing N64 & Gamecube titles on it. And maybe a few popular JP console & arcade titles that never made it west.

And while they're at, how about fortifying the Nintendo Network for the imminent arrival of MK8 & SSBU/3DS. Remember how the Pokemon Bank crippled the 3DS network in Japan for a month? Imagine that mess x30.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games Our Readers Would Love to See in 2014

MaverickHunterX

What I want to see on the WiiU in 2014?
Though HIGHLY unlikely, I'd like to see "X", Yarn Yoshi and Fire Emblem X SMT get released this year. But one could dream.

And maybe, just maybe during some ND this year we'll actually see a trailer for Zelda U, or Nintendo could let Platinum Games have a crack at Metroid. Why? One word. Vanquish.

Vanquish's gameplay + Metroid-style exploration = WIN.

Re: Talking Point: Claims of Wii U Third-Party Development Troubles Shouldn't Be Dismissed Lightly

MaverickHunterX

@ boynerdrambling I completely agree.

I've been saying this for a while, but it's ALL up to Nintendo to make the WiiU successful. Which is more or less what they had to do with the 3DS over the past 2 years.

Until Nintendo is able/willing to release a console that's relatively on par with "current" PC specs, OR the rest of game industry collapses under it's current model, we've never gonna see any prominent 3rd party presence on a Nintendo console.

Re: Talking Point: Marketing Wii U to the Masses

MaverickHunterX

What people keep forgetting is that Nintendo doesn't advertise unless there's a BIG upcoming title they want to promote, and they usually advertise it two weeks before and after the game's release.

The only 3DS commercials on TV(this year) were Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. And the only WiiU game they've advertised thus far has been Pikmin 3.

Give them another week or two and I guarantee you'll start seeing commercials for the Wind Waker HD deluxe bundle/price drop on Cartoon Network/Boomerrang, Nicktoons, and DisneyXD/HD/Jr.

Re: 3DS Hardware Sales Continue to Rise in Japan, Wii U Numbers Drop Again

MaverickHunterX

@Yasume
I love how all the doomsayers said the same thing about Ocarina of Time 3D for the 3DS, funny how that turned out.

But seriously, the one thing all you doomsayers fail to realize EVERY console generation is that you never count Nintendo out.

That being said: I don't expect that big of a boost from WindWakerHD, but it and the price drop will at least get the ball rolling.

And they'll continue to gain momentum as Sonic Lost World follows after WWHD, then SM3DWorld, then DKC Tropical Freeze, no strong AAA exclusives from either the PS4 or the Xbone this holiday(and no PS4 launch in Japan til Feb' 14), the WiiU will definitely be in a better position than it is now.

Re: Mario & Luigi Has a Dreamy Japanese Chart Debut, Wii U Hardware Sales Drop by a Third

MaverickHunterX

I think it's funny how people are already saying that "Sony and/or Microsoft has already won" even though neither of them has sold a single PS4 or XboxONE.

Beyond the news of initial preorders being sold-out(or shut-off), we have no idea how many units have actually been preordered or how many units will even be available to sell at retail on day one, etc.etc.

And judging by their confirmed launch titles, it's not much better than the WiiU's launch. All those awesome "system sellers" we saw at E3 won't be available till spring 2014 or later.

As far as we know, Sony & Microsoft's launch issues may mirror Nintendo's to a certain degree. My point is: We simply do not know.

And until we have ALL 3 next-gen consoles at retail with actual units on the floor to sell, we can't call anything. Anyone who does at this point is either moron or they have a Flux-Capacitor jerry-rigged to their car.
