Re: Review: Zero Time Dilemma (3DS)

@Bigskyorbust Nah dude, it doesn't really matter which you play first. You may as well go for 999 first though. I say that only because it's my favorite.

Re: Weirdness: The NES Zapper Just Became Much Deadlier

@Sean_Aaron I didn't say I was in disbelief that this discussion is taking place period. At least, I didn't intended to. What I did express is that it's a ridiculous topic for a site like NL. Why it's being discussed HERE I can't understand, nor do I understand how anything I've said enforces the idea of Americans being unable to engage in polite political discussion. But whatever, people can keep using this as an opportunity to stand upon their soapbox and wax political......on a videogame site. Personally, I'm ready to move on.

Re: Weirdness: The NES Zapper Just Became Much Deadlier

MC808

@Sean_Aaron Are you saying people who live in countries that don't allow firearms to be generally sold are better off? Because to me that's also every bit as ridiculous a notion as the converse.
Having said that, it's ridiculous that this article, and subsequent "discussion" is even here and taking place on NL.
EDIT:
"Because Americans are unable to engage in polite debate about political issues?"
Seriously? Do you realize how hypocritical a statement that is? Apparently you don't, because I see even more American-bashing from you. But you know what, I'm not going to insult every Scottish person just because of the foolish comments made by one. That's the real difference between us, not our nationality. In the meantime, enjoy your ride on the anti-American bandwagon, it's free and there's plenty of seats available for the likes of you.

@3MonthBeef Just be glad it wasn't a bazooka designed like the Super Scope 6
LMAO

@-Red- I for one refuse to accept that stereotype. The real shame to me is that the stereotype even exists, but thanks to people like Sean_Aaron it's here to stay.

Re: Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey Believes Virtual Boy "Hurt" the VR Industry, But It's Not All Bad

@DESS-M-8 There's no point in even attempting a convo with that kid. I see him make these grandiose assertions all the freakin' time. Your opinions are always wrong. Why? Because they're YOUR opinions, not his, which we all know are actually facts, because they're his.
I'm replying to you because I don't think I can calmly respond directly to him. I suppose it doesn't matter though, since we're all uninformed dumba##es. But hey, you know what they say about opinions..... heh

Re: Video: Hands On With The Revo K101 Plus, The Ultimate Game Boy Advance Clone

MC808

@retro_player_22 I have to second the vote for the PSP being the ultimate portable emu machine, imho.
I've got an insane amount of emus and games on mine and have logged countless hours playing it. I can't recall the last time I actually played a PSP game on my PSP. lol
I've retired the ol' PSP though, and replaced it with a Vita. Of course, I'm simply emulating a PSP on it. The benefit of it is being able to enjoy all my emus on that gorgeous OLED. It's totally worth it. In fact, it's absolute bliss.

Re: Video: Five Ways FAST Racing NEO Isn't F-Zero

MC808

@defrb Yeah, I agree. Too much importance is placed on boosting. I guess that's why I love Wipeout so much. Boosting can save the day, but the emphasis is usually on precision driving. And I'd love it even more if the combat aspect were totally removed. The Wipeouts on PS1, Saturn, and even the N64 one weren't as combat heavy as the "newer" ones. Wipeout XL being the pinnacle of the series, IMO. But I guess I should shut up about Wipeout, it's not really the topic here. lol

Re: Video: Five Ways FAST Racing NEO Isn't F-Zero

MC808

@sevex I've never experienced what you say is a trait indicative of Wipeout. Then again, I've always gone with the first-person camera view on any/every racing game that allows it. Maybe that's why...
But anyways, imo the handling characteristics are more like F-Zero than Wipeout or XG.

Re: Video: Five Ways FAST Racing NEO Isn't F-Zero

MC808

@TerrapinJess Admittedly I'm a HUGE Wipeout fan, but I still enjoy the F-Zero and Extreme-G games. Have you played XG3 on GameCube? Hands down the highlight of the series. I highly recommend it to any fans of the genre.
Playing that in Super-High-Res 480p with a Wavebird......ah good times, good times indeed. haha
It's very nice to play on PC with the Dolphin emu as well. Assuming you already own a copy, of course.

Re: Review: SteamWorld Heist (3DS eShop)

MC808

@luke88 That's a shame. If it's such a good game and they're so confident about it there should be a demo, regardless. Especially when they're wanting that much for a digital only release. Just my opinion.

Re: Review: SteamWorld Heist (3DS eShop)

MC808

@ejamer "A $30 retail release is worth maybe $10 as a digital only release, because once digital it can't be loaned, traded, sold. The idea of "buying" digital is a farce, because you don't own anything except a limited license to use the software."
Well said, my friend.

Re: Feature: Finding Top Speed in FAST Racing NEO

MC808

@WiiU-Dude I guess I'm one of those crackheads good enough to routinely pull off "perfect laps" in the various Wipeouts.
I found Wipeout XL to have the best balance between scraping walls and the jarring stops that would happen often in the first Wipeout.

Re: Video: A Wii Wave Race Project Got Far Enough to Have Its Own Patents

MC808

@TheRealThanos Ahh...simcade, that works. hehe It's definitely a grey area. In between a Gran Tourismo and a Ridge Racer. Or a WRC and a Sega Rally. There's a lot of room in-between those two.
Reminds me of an X-Files quote:
"If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced."

....and yeah, Kawasaki owns the term "jet ski', literally.

Re: Video: A Wii Wave Race Project Got Far Enough to Have Its Own Patents

MC808

@TheRealThanos Personally I wouldn't categorize Blue Storm as an arcade racer, if only because of the control and exceptional physics, which are actually quite realistic. At the same time however, I wouldn't categorize it as a racing sim either. EVERY other boat/jet ski game I've played easily falls into the arcade category.

Re: Video: A Wii Wave Race Project Got Far Enough to Have Its Own Patents

MC808

@dkxcalibur No no, I didn't mean to imply that at all. I was just using your comment about the depth to expound upon and give my opinion. Sorry if it sounded like I was insulting you.
It's similar to what I've observed with the Wipeout series, in the sense that people who are awful at it tend not to like it as much as those who are good at it, even though they want to like it. hehehe But I suppose that can be said of many games. And I'm not saying you fall into this category, I'm just saying it happens.
Wave Race 64 and Blue Storm are two of my favorite games ever, and I believe they are highly underrated. All the other boat/jet ski games I've played just don't even come close to the feel or look of Wave Race. I think both games also truly demonstrate the graphical capabilities of the N64 and GC . Blue Storm is still freakin' gorgeous to this day.
I suppose I can understand how some would get bored with them, but I never have. The effect the weather changes in BS have on each course is massive. It completely changes everything. It's not like some other racers I've played that have a reverse or mirrored version of a track and call it "new". Ridge Racer comes to mind.

I added your friend code, feel free to add mine.
