You'll have seen 'Retro-Bit' in quite a few of our headlines today, and we're not done yet. That's because the nostalgia-driven company has had a big blow-out at CES 2017, with some products that are rather tempting and others that are, well, less so.
We're not sure where this one stands. The Retro-Bit Mega Table is basically a massive USB controller that'll set you back $499.99 - it's out in March. While it's arguably rather cool, we're not sure it's a wise use of such an extravagant amount of money.
Good luck to anyone that decides to buy one of these tables; we'll happily admire it from a distance instead.

Not bluetooth enabled?
For when playing retro games with a regular controller is too easy
This is madness!
(Love it!)
Beautiful
@UK-Nintendo
Temptated with that table ?
Wanna buy ?
It looks beautiful, but there are a lot of why's here. The most important why can simply be answered with "because they can", but other than that, this is a pretty useless product in this form factor.
Unless you're not going to use it as an actual table, it'll only take up unnecessary space and if you DO use it as an actual table, then you'd better make sure to not drop any liquids on it, like coffee, tea or any cold beverage. Will probably not be too conducive to the health of all the integrated controls and switches...
@Anti-Matter would love to buy but wife will kill me
the question is, y is there ABXY buttons but no shoulder buttons?
As cool as it is, I could buy quite a few useful items rather than buying that particular table. It looks really nice though.
@derty Well, would you want to hug the table to reach those shoulder buttons?
@GrooveManyula lol well u can play 4 player I guess haha, 1 on the dpad 1 on ABXY and 1 on each shoulder button... my god that would be ridiculous but I would still want to try that out lol seems like 1 heck of a party
I don't think $500 is really that much for this. People often overlook production costs on things when it's really just beyond their budget.
"Great for use with emulators and Steam games"
They're joking, right? Why would I want to use that massive thing as a game controller. This thing is virtually useless.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy It's a stupid, silly novelty item at best. Then again, it be amusing seeing someone use the thing by pressing the huge buttons with nothing but his/her arms, flapping around and about, Mashing the buttons with their elbows. It's kinda ridiculous and kinda feels comedic in some dumb way.
Hah. Don't forget that its probably not waterproof. For that price it would be the same as using a basic gaming pc with fan openings at the top as a coffee table.
That's just dumb
..you'd have to get on top and dance on it, like Tom Hanks in Big, just to use it.. Lol..
Not bad, but I wish their logo wasn't on it. That's the biggest flaw in my mind.
Would be good to have when the nice people at Mario Marathon do one of those 'share the controller' challenges where one person controls the D-Pad and the other the B/A buttons and try to get thru a level. Pricey though. Ouch!
Finally! A new DDR controller that is potentially hazardous to dance on for multiple reasons!
This is kind of cool but I just wish the colors were different. As far as the price, it all comes down to how much money you make. For many, $500 just isn't that much.
I could see this being fun playing in a group, after some drinks, with one person using the control pad and others the play buttons
Cool? Yes. A practical use of my hard-earned Rupees? Nope.
You'd have to get a glass window made to put on top of this table when you aren't gaming. Assuming the controls don't protrude over the edge.
Im impressed yet baffled at the same time
The only thing I could think of...

Well, I suppose it's an amusing gimmick to have two people try to control the same player foosball-style. It reminds me of when I'd play "Wolfenstein 3D" as a kid with one player in charge of movement and the other player in charge of shooting and toggling the M, L, I cheat keys.
In other terms, you could play the original "Star Fox" in a similar manner to the coop mode in "Star Fox Zero."
@bluedogrulez that's the first thing I thought. What a bizziare design choice to omit a wirelsss option considering how cheal it would be, accounting for the relative price of the product.
It is cool though far too expensive.
