But I actually think this app is good for what it does. Sure, it's no Iphone equivalent, but it doesn't really suck. I found the video quality to not be the greatest, but far from unwatchable.
@CanisWolfred I'm with you there. Twilight Princess is to me the greatest Zelda ever, and I've played them all (except those terrible CDI games... Shudder).
@Aqueous This really surprised me as well. I was half expecting an 8, but a 10 is excellent. Definitely on my to get ASAP list now.
@Pallefj lol Yes, it very much has been. We must converse later in more a more pony friendly environment when the time comes.

@Pallefj I'm sorry that this is a bit off topic, but I just need to say that I love your avatar there.
@Aqueous Well if you do decide to go with getting it, just know that you got someone ready to do multiplayer with.
This is quite a steal . I wasn't going to double dip for revelations on Wii U, but for that price, I may just have to. Only thing is that I like the multiplayer more than the actual game (the story got a bit to intense at times going solo, but I still did it all the way through). Time to go through the ship once more I suppose... 'Gulp'
Ah... Nostalgia trip... I remember way back when that my grandmother gave me the money for my birthday to go and buy either Pokemon Red or Blue. When I got to the store with my mom though, I had no idea which to get since the box art on both looked awesome. My mom then asked the store clerk at Target what the difference was, and he said that Blue was harder than Red for some reason. I then opted for Red after a few minutes of careful consideration. When I got home, I immediately opened and started playing with my brothers and sisters hovering around my Gameboy screen. I remember the feeling of excitement and adventure after getting my Pokemon from the professor and battling my first wild Pokemon. It was like nothing I had ever experience before that time, and I was loving every minute of it...
But I would have liked it if he could have sent that system my way instead of incinerating it. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting to see it get burn't to a crisp, but then it means no one can use it anymore. Such is the price of entertainment I suppose.
Oh my, lean pickings for this week. There may be some interesting fun to be had in retro golf and tennis, but got so many games to do right now that I'll pass. Pokemon will surely do well regardless though...
@andreoni79 No need to hold the gamepad at the same time, since I have the stand that came with my deluxe set. It may be just a second screen, but it's useful to me, since the TV is just in the other room next to me. Not denying that it is not useful for some, but for me, this is fantastic.
@Paperluigi You can, but only if you have the necessary controllers that work for the Wii console to play them. I did a bit of Super Smash Bros from the 64 on the gamepad. It was awesome.
This is by far a brilliant update. I've been waiting forever for off TV Wii mode play, and now it's possible! Now I can play all of my VC collection and Wii library in bed. Here I come to beating you Xenoblade!
@Twilight_Crow Well, there is one for me, and that's Kingdom Hearts 3 so far. But that's not enough for me to go and get it day one. I can wait a few years for the PS4 to drop in price before claiming another Sony console, like I did for my PS3.
Color me intrigued with this option that valve is going to start offering. I've heard rumblings of Valve working on a console like device, but I never even knew they were showing it off till last weekend. This could be a really nice option if all goes well, and if they do things right. Nintendo will always remain my number one console purchase no matter what though. Can't go on without my dose of Nintendo franchises.
Lovely review. This is the kind of score I figured it would get. I'm stoked to play this again.
I'm going to take a chance on grabing the limited Ganondorth figure bundle. I should have put a preorder in straight away, but there still is a chance my gamestop may have an extra. here's hoping...
I've never been a fan of kickstarter, but I've decided to back Shantae with $200 bucks for the goodies that come with the slot.
It's good to see both games promoting each other though, and that someone from the other company is helping with the Shantae game. Now I want a crossover.
This must be the most comments I've ever seen for an article...
Just going to throw my own thoughts in here. I'm 22, and I've never cared for the series to be honest. No, I have not played a game in the series, and I probably never will. The reason I can safely say I will never like it is for the content it has in it. Strippers, f-bombs, and horrificly detailed violence are all turn offs for me. All it's showing off is moral depravity at it's worst, and I can never get behind something like that. Same goes for any other form of entertainment which portrays such immoral works of a character in a glorified status, such as books, and films.
I'm a Nintendo fan at heart, but that doesn't mean I don't own other systems, with my PS3 and PSP serving as complimentary systems to my Nintendo consoles and handhelds. I could go and get this game now, but I'd never feel right with it. Besides, I have many other games to take up my time.
If anyone else wants this game, that's their business. I'm not knocking anyone for wanting to get it, I just can't go for something like this myself is all.
@Jaz007 Totally with you there. I feel alot more games would be great times if most of content you mentioned was axed. I'll never figure out why it's felt to be so necessary to include such things.
That's pretty much the basic premise for any business strategy. Make your product perform well so people will support it. I think there could have been more done to appease other third parties with the architecture, but then the price would surely have gone up as well, since companies like Bethesda are always about using the most powerful hardware.
I'm still in the boat though that the Wii U will be fine going into next year. With the new price cut going into effect and big games finally coming. It'll turn a few third party heads around and it will be back in business, just not in the capacity that the Wii had.
@Peahch64 And that's why physical CD sales are on the rise in Japan, at least as I was told by a Japanese news network. Different country, I know, but gives insight into why they got a physical version.
"Ace Attorney producer Motohide Eshiro reaffirmed the reason behind the download-only route is so localisation does not take as long, allowing people to get their hands on the game as soon as possible." And that they can try and line their pockets with as much money as possible, eliminating any way of anyone selling it second hand. I'm all for a company making a profit, but to say that getting the game localized faster is the only reason for such a decision is just a slap in the face. The've lost a sale from me. They could have even a limited run, but no.
Runner 2 DLC only for me this week. I already got DuckTales Remastered, and am loving every minute of it.
@ThomasBW84 One thing I should bring up though is that the Runner 2 DLC is showing up on mine and a friends Wii U Eshop for $1.99. Is $3 the actual price then for the DLC, or did we just get lucky?
I made a pic with this game, and I'm loving what I've been able to do so far. I just have to get used to putting other colors over previous ones with no undo button for shading.
@dumedum That's true I suppose. I guess I'm talking more about my own view on it, since I wouldn't bother with a demo (Especially for a game like this) when the full game comes out at the same time. Make no mistake, it's great for those who are interested that have never played one of the past games before or are iffy about the game to try the demo and buy it right after straight away. I would have just preferred it to be earlier so I could have gotten a taste of things to come. A game can build hype that way before release too.
Got this game just today on my way back from a camp. Playing it right now, and it's great so far. I'm surprised they finally decided to release a demo for the game now of all times, but better late than never.
@Mario-Kirby Here here! They've all been great to me as well. Got every one physical, and now adding this one to the collection is a dream come true.
I'm sad they won't support online for Batman. The multiplayer looks very interesting. Not a deal breaker for me though, but very disappointed.
But this has always been the way it seems for Nintendo system owners since the N64. Expect to miss third party content, because most third parties never seem to bring the quality and do quick dirty ports, with exceptions.
I honestly can see some potential, since it was only just a pitch. I would rather have a veteran studio like Dreamworks Or Pixar as some have said to take the reigns on a Zelda film though. Imagi's Astroboy, while ok, wasn't anything special to me.
How can I choose between 2 awesome (and might I add rare) games. Both Earthbound and Shantae for me. This is kind of a crazy coincidence though, since I picked up some Eshop money on a whim the other night just to prepare myself for something like this to occur.
Neither here nor there on the issue. I would prefer to have a console be region free though, but I don't see it as a make or break issue. I don't usually import that much, but when I did it was on my DS with Tingle's Rosey Ruppeland Land, and Tingles Baloon fight from Europe and Japan respectively. I also imported the Starfy games on GBA since I didn't need english to understand what was going on.
So if there is a console I think that should still be region free, it should be the 3DS to me, since they always had it region free before for handhelds. To me, that was a big step backwards.
Seems my fear of this game was well founded. Judging from the trailer, I had this feeling in my gut that I knew this would be a so so game. I'll be giving this a miss. Maybe if it has a good sale, but not even considering it till then.
This seems to remind me of another title we all had heard about flip flopping back and forth that it was, then not, coming to Wii U for a while... (Cough Alien Colonel Marines Cough)
Someone in the company should know wherever they are or not. Just say it already.
@Discostew I'm with ya there. I could get by with Wii U and 3DS alone quite comfortably going forward.
But I don't see this as news worthy. It's the stuff we've all known about for a while now. I know I'll be going with a PS4 down the line, but I can wait for it to get cheaper and have most of the games I want on it to be available before taking the plunge. Otherwise I'm set with my Wii U and 3DS and backlog for the time being.
This game looks like great fun. I love the fact that they brought back the spin dash again. Just make some other characters playable besides the usual Sonic and Tails, and you would have yourselves an instant day 1 purchase from me.
Nintendo made the right choice in chasing after the Indie Developers. A lot of unique ideas can come out of them. And with the way big budget games are going, they're losing uniqueness and are becoming clones of one another.
Still... would be nice to see Nintendo get some more third party support from bigger developers.
With the way Nintendo Directs have been this year, it stands to reason for them to wait. Difficult to gauge, but my guess is they'll drop some footage of it early next year, though more likely that next years E3 will be the big reveal.
There's enough content coming to keep me happy though. Only thing that would make me happier is if they showed off a new original IP, or revitalize an older franchise.
I'm theorizing that they may be referring to the 3DS and PS Vita versions of Blackgate. DLC is pretty much almost non existent on 3DS except for a handful of titles, so it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be just that. But only time will tell for a full confirmation.
If Wii U misses out on the DLC though, I'll have to jump ship and go with a PS3 version then.
Honestly, It sounds like a bunch of stupidity that it's our fault for this happening. I said it before, but they could easily pull off a limited run of physical copies, then not sell anymore that way and only have it on the Eshop for the people who are willing to go download only. Until they announce something like that, I'm not going to support this game, and this is coming from someone who owns all the previous ones in the series that made it boxed to the west.
@theblackdragon I seem to recall having my wallet spitting out money for AAI so we could get the sequel as well...
Not sure really... I have so many things to get to theses days. I suppose I'll be going into Lego City and get a bit more of that done. Maybe a bit of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the side, just so I don't feel like such a weakling online anymore.
I just upgraded 2 Kirby games I had gotten before on Wii to Wii U VC. It now shows that I can get Kirby's Dream Course for free. I'm so happy I waited on getting that one. Not bad getting all three games on Wii U VC for $3 bucks, now I can try the one I didn't own out.
I own both a Wii U and a PS3, though there is one difference. That being I went and got the Wii U right away, but waited about 3 and a half years before getting a PS3. I wanted it mostly to have a Blue-ray player that could do a few HD games I had been looking at for a while on the side. I'll probably do the same thing with the PS4, give it some time to get some games I want, and for the price to drop, before even consider getting it.
The Xbox brand doesn't interest me at all, so I'll be continuing to steer clear of them for now.
Kevin Conroy is fantastic, and I always get a kick out of hearing him doing Batman.
This news doesn't really surprise me though. It looked like they were wanting to make Batman a yearly deal like with other big budget titles. Glad to hear Conroy is back though.
Good review there. I've already gone through this once though, and I don't particularly want retread the same territory for only a few extra features. Also the fact that while I found Revelations ok, I felt a little sick at some points during the main campaign. My gore meter is not very tolerant, but it wasn't as bad as what I've seen in past titles. I still hold onto my 3DS copy as I like doing the raid mode with friends, but that's about it.
My Wii U seemed to crash a lot more often after the system boost update from a while ago. It was mostly on things like Hulu Plus and Netflix, but was nonetheless annoying.
And the Wii U menu seemed to be more sluggish overall, though once the jumping into the game was initiated, it went super fast and smooth. I hope this one fixes my problem with it.
No real lose here. I've always considered Insomniac to be Sony's game development studio anyways. Shame though, as the do make some pretty great games. Ratchet & Clank is a great series, and I think it would fit rather well with Nintendo's Roster of characters. That franchise is one of the reasons I got a PS3, as well as for the Blue-Ray player.
I would have preferred that NA didn't use this version of the script. It's not funny in my eyes, and while Chrom and Fredrick do talk of something similar, it's not referring to anything in particular.
Well this is quite interesting news. I would have thought a big conference would have been great. I mean, even though there isn't any new hardware to announce, it still seems silly not to shout about your games during one of the biggest gaming events of the year. I'm still excited either way in any case. Bring on Mario Kart!
@Chriiis I know, just reiterating it in hopes of Ninty seeing the demand. Squeaky wheel gets the oil after all. And you have a good point, though hopefully if they are secretly working on Gamecube games, they release them in a more timely manner.
I must say the actual new releases for the Wii U VC specifically is fairly underwhelming. Even the Wii had a much stronger lineup when the VC service started on it. I'll still be upgrading all my previous purchases though, but it would have been nice to see more titles making it to the service than that.
Oh, and don't forget Gamecube in the future, Ninty. Even though I have all the greats from the system for the most part, having everything in one spot would be great.

So begins the millennium of Luigi.
Seriously, this has been a great year for the man in green, though I am sad that we had to have a sour note in the year with Jack having died just the other week. Lots to be happy about besides though.
Re: The 3DS YouTube App Has Finally Gone Live

Great review Martin.

I understand the concern to an extent, but they could have given us at least a warning before shutting it down. I'm sure the Miiverse integration though shall come I guess, and hopefully that unified account system.
RIP Swapnote. It was a good run while it lasted.
@Pallefj I'm sorry that this is a bit off topic, but I just need to say that I love your avatar there.
Re: Data Says - Choose Squirtle in Pokémon Red & Blue

Squirtle is the no brainer though as far starters are concerned. That doesn't mean I won't have my precious Bulbasaur though.

This game looks like great fun. I love the fact that they brought back the spin dash again. Just make some other characters playable besides the usual Sonic and Tails, and you would have yourselves an instant day 1 purchase from me.
Re: Over 1,000 Parties Interested In Developing For Wii U Since Nintendo Web Framework Announcement
Nintendo made the right choice in chasing after the Indie Developers. A lot of unique ideas can come out of them. And with the way big budget games are going, they're losing uniqueness and are becoming clones of one another.
Still... would be nice to see Nintendo get some more third party support from bigger developers.
Re: Miyamoto: Zelda Wii U Was Considered For Display At This Year's E3
With the way Nintendo Directs have been this year, it stands to reason for them to wait. Difficult to gauge, but my guess is they'll drop some footage of it early next year, though more likely that next years E3 will be the big reveal.
There's enough content coming to keep me happy though. Only thing that would make me happier is if they showed off a new original IP, or revitalize an older franchise.
Re: It's Still Not Known If Batman: Arkham Origins DLC Is Coming To Wii U
I'm theorizing that they may be referring to the 3DS and PS Vita versions of Blackgate. DLC is pretty much almost non existent on 3DS except for a handful of titles, so it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be just that. But only time will tell for a full confirmation.
If Wii U misses out on the DLC though, I'll have to jump ship and go with a PS3 version then.
Re: Capcom USA Senior VP Responds to Ace Attorney Concerns
Honestly, It sounds like a bunch of stupidity that it's our fault for this happening. I said it before, but they could easily pull off a limited run of physical copies, then not sell anymore that way and only have it on the Eshop for the people who are willing to go download only. Until they announce something like that, I'm not going to support this game, and this is coming from someone who owns all the previous ones in the series that made it boxed to the west.
@theblackdragon I seem to recall having my wallet spitting out money for AAI so we could get the sequel as well...
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Thirteen
Not sure really... I have so many things to get to theses days. I suppose I'll be going into Lego City and get a bit more of that done. Maybe a bit of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the side, just so I don't feel like such a weakling online anymore.
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd May (North America)
I just upgraded 2 Kirby games I had gotten before on Wii to Wii U VC. It now shows that I can get Kirby's Dream Course for free. I'm so happy I waited on getting that one. Not bad getting all three games on Wii U VC for $3 bucks, now I can try the one I didn't own out.
Re: Poll: Do You Follow and Watch Rival Console Reveals?
I own both a Wii U and a PS3, though there is one difference. That being I went and got the Wii U right away, but waited about 3 and a half years before getting a PS3. I wanted it mostly to have a Blue-ray player that could do a few HD games I had been looking at for a while on the side. I'll probably do the same thing with the PS4, give it some time to get some games I want, and for the price to drop, before even consider getting it.
The Xbox brand doesn't interest me at all, so I'll be continuing to steer clear of them for now.
Re: Kevin Conroy Inadvertently Confirms Role in Future Batman Arkham Game
Kevin Conroy is fantastic, and I always get a kick out of hearing him doing Batman.
This news doesn't really surprise me though. It looked like they were wanting to make Batman a yearly deal like with other big budget titles. Glad to hear Conroy is back though.
Re: Review: Resident Evil Revelations (Wii U)
@bezerker99 It's $49.99 in the Wii U Eshop.
Re: New Wii U System Update Goes Live
My Wii U seemed to crash a lot more often after the system boost update from a while ago. It was mostly on things like Hulu Plus and Netflix, but was nonetheless annoying.
And the Wii U menu seemed to be more sluggish overall, though once the jumping into the game was initiated, it went super fast and smooth. I hope this one fixes my problem with it.
Re: Insomniac Not Working On Wii U, Considers It More "Current Gen" Than "Next Gen"
I can't wait for their first movie.
Re: Weirdness: Nintendo of Europe Didn't Want "Boingy Bits" in Fire Emblem: Awakening
I would have preferred that NA didn't use this version of the script. It's not funny in my eyes, and while Chrom and Fredrick do talk of something similar, it's not referring to anything in particular.
Re: Nintendo Won't Be Holding A Large-Scale Press Conference At E3 This Year
Well this is quite interesting news. I would have thought a big conference would have been great. I mean, even though there isn't any new hardware to announce, it still seems silly not to shout about your games during one of the biggest gaming events of the year. I'm still excited either way in any case. Bring on Mario Kart!
Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed
@Chriiis I know, just reiterating it in hopes of Ninty seeing the demand. Squeaky wheel gets the oil after all. And you have a good point, though hopefully if they are secretly working on Gamecube games, they release them in a more timely manner.
Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed
I must say the actual new releases for the Wii U VC specifically is fairly underwhelming. Even the Wii had a much stronger lineup when the VC service started on it. I'll still be upgrading all my previous purchases though, but it would have been nice to see more titles making it to the service than that.
Oh, and don't forget Gamecube in the future, Ninty. Even though I have all the greats from the system for the most part, having everything in one spot would be great.
