Re: Sonic Lost World Gets Free Legend of Zelda DLC Tomorrow

Lunapplebloom

Oh yes! This was what I was hoping for! Sonic looks so cool with his Link cosplay costume, and seeing him in Skyward Sword style has made my day. Will download as soon as I can tomorrow to test this out on my launch week copy of Lost Worlds. (which is also very decent might I add.)

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th March (North America)

Lunapplebloom

@Discostew an interesting idea. Perhaps there is more to the whole EA deal than we realize. Nintendo trying to make it up by releasing old sports games is not exactly a winning idea though.

VC has been a bit appailing as of late, but not to concerned about that either way for now. Still, will get some things when the drip feed in down the line upgraded from Wii VC.

Pure Chess for me this week, when I have the time anyways.

Re: Steel Diver: Sub Wars Update Applies Fixes and Tweaks to Online Play

Lunapplebloom

@Aqueous Thanks for your investigative work. Well sounds like they tried a bit of balancing I guess. We'll find out soon enough how affected everything is I suppose.

To bad they didn't tweak the online for finding friends first before going random... Oh well, these improvements are nice to see, especially that winning streak modification. Never could get to high with all those errors I kept getting.

Re: Ninterview: Aaron "NintendoTwizer" Norton and the Ultimate Retro Collection

Lunapplebloom

Kudos to @NintendoTwizer for having such an ability to collect all these titles and put in a room this awesome. My hat off to him about ROMs as well. He hit that notion on the head perfectly. As a retro game player myself, nothing beats the actual system experience. The feeling of the actual controller in your hand and playing it on an old tube TV is the stuff of legends...

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

@RantingThespian No that's ok. It just really gets me in my soft spot. Your story sounds fascinating though. I've been considering starting from the very beginning once I see the rest of new series on Netflix and Hulu Plus. Even if everything may look dated, every great series comes from somewhere, and I'm always willing to take a look at where it began.

@RantingThespian & @Senario David is really one of a kind in the role so far to me. Luckily, I'll still get to see him one last time for the 50th.

And thanks for the heads up. I saw Matt's first appearance episode now, and he's off to a good start. Need to see more before I pass judgement however.

Sure thing though. I'm always up for a little discussion. I think I saw a thread around NL somewhere for Doctor discussion, but can't remember where. I've derailed this topic enough though for myself and you guys with me.

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

@RantingThespian You really know how to hit a guy right in here... Having a nostalgia moment.

@Senario I know, right? I have a few people who I know who watch it (on NL and in real life), and that was what partially pushed me to finally see it. I never really got into it, since the episodes I saw were out of sequence, so it just looked like a weird mess of a show to me. Now thanks to the power of Netflix and a little prodding, I decided to take another shot from the beginning of the newer series... And it was Brilliant! Now to see how this new guy after Tennant works out.

@Aqueous One can hope. I guess I may need to vs you in that before it goes for good.

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

Oh man... First I finish off watching David Tenant as The Doctor in Doctor Who on Netflix (Which is really sad and brilliant at the same time), and now I see that Nintendo is pulling the plug on online soon for Wii/DS as well. Today's just my day for the bittersweet moments in life...

Guess I'll need to round up some online with a couple of friends for a final bout in a few games before the services go dark... Sigh... I'll miss Mario Strikers Charged with my mentor, @Twilight_Crow.

Re: Weirdness: Samus Aran's Metroid Backstory Re-imagined as a Love Song

Lunapplebloom

@Kaze_Memaryu Sorry, video was a bit to NSFW for my tastes. If he wants to state an opinion, the least he can do is not use such language to convey it. I get the overall gist of it though. Plot holes aside, I just feel it doesn't deserve as much hate as it gets. Just my opinion mind you, but I'll be keeping it all the same.

@Of_Folsense Untitled
Agree with you there man, especially Ridley for me. The music really fit the bill too.

@Midnafanboy Well, I'm glad we are somewhat on the same page for Other M. Video is all a matter of opinion, but I guess I'm just looking at the animation quality put into it is all. That end scene with Mother Brain was awesome in my book. And might I add that I'm a fan of your avatar as well. But here's where I picked mine up from.

Should really change it I suppose, what with Christmas over with... I just like it to much I guess.

Re: Weirdness: Samus Aran's Metroid Backstory Re-imagined as a Love Song

Lunapplebloom

Sometimes it seems I must be one of the only people who liked Other M. Granted, the story was not really well done, but at least Samus had some emotion, they just portrayed it in the wrong way. Otherwise, Team Ninja did a great job with the gameplay.

This video does an admirable job at trying to show that Samus isn't just an emotionless drone sent in to wipe out life, but that there is a human with emotion behind the suit. I believe this more successfully brings that across without the going and putting needless cowering from traumatic past experiences when she already defeated Ridly twice before. The songs a bit cheesy though... Would have preffered if they kept the lyrics out of the classic tunes, but would have defeated the purpose of the video. Only thing bugging me with animation is the eyes, but otherwise a super job in the animation department, especially since it's fan made.

Re: Rumour: Steel Diver: Sub Wars Is Set In Same Universe As Star Fox

Lunapplebloom

I highly doubt this is a universe melding thing going on here, just some tongue in cheek cameoing. Peppy makes a fine salesman, though let him be in his own game again soon, Ninty.

A fun little game besides the fact that you can't find your friends to do any online with them. If they had implemented that, I'd jump into the full version straight away. As it stands though, I'm going to need to think about it.

Re: Feature: Meet The Gamate, The Handheld Which Tried To Take On The Game Boy And Failed

Lunapplebloom

Interesting... Never heard of this system before, but no real surprise I suppose. I was after all living in a country that wasn't even selling Gamate handhelds. No surprise it failed either, what with the screen being shoddy for displaying games most of the time. Still, would have been interesting to see it be modestly successful with the right development and care put into it. Maybe then the company would still be in the console business to this day...

Lovely article though, Damien.

Re: World Record Speed Runner Just Can't Stop Playing Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Lunapplebloom

Can't say I blame him if it floats his boat. Some games you just never really get tired of and want to go back again and again, though my reasons is just for fun, and not speed runs.

Some of my all time favorites to revisit every so often is Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Super Mario 64. Both hold a special place in my gaming life, and I know almost every nook and cranny of them.

Re: Western Version Of Bravely Default Features Costume Changes For Female Characters

Lunapplebloom

@Aqueous with you there, though I haven't had a chance for the demo. I'll need to check it out.

But this has no bearing on my decision to get it. For people to get all up in arms over small cosmetic changes that have no big effect on the overall gameplay or story is amusing to me. Seems the only way to please everyone is to have an unaltered cut of the game on the cartridge only accessible with parental controls.

Re: Site News: How was 2013 for Nintendo Life?

Lunapplebloom

Thank you NL for being here all this year and for every year in the past as well. First time I came here was when the Wii had first come out. I usually waited to read Nintendo Power, or look things up on IGN when it came to Nintendo news. But once Wii VC and Wiiware came around, I wanted a place that I could get instant info on all the downloadable gaming goodies that where on the service. I then discovered Nintendo Life, and this slowly became my number one source, especially for reviews. I've lurked the halls for many years before I joined to join in on the conversation back in January of 2012, and have been enjoying the time here even more ever since.

I'd like to say thank you to all the editors, mods, and community for making this my go to place for Nintendo news, and info. I look forward to the many more years to come.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
