YouTube user dOvetastic likes to microwave consumer products for his own twisted entertainment, and films the results so the wider world can share in his rather disturbing pastime. You might recall his previous videos featuring a 3DS XL and Wii U.
He's managed to secure a brand new 2DS console, and sadly there are no prizes for guessing what he's done with it. The following video shows "Nintendo latest blunder" (his words, not ours) being frazzled to death, and makes for slightly uncomfortable viewing — however, it's all done in the name of art and does at least confirm the news that the dual-screen console has just a single display, divided in two.
Needless to say, don't try this at home — not that you'd be mad enough to, anyway.

Repulsive x
@FernandoMachado In every single way...
This guy is a moron.
cant wait to read butthurt comments. its his 2ds and he does it for enterteinment! I find it interersting and fun to watch. nintendo fans are one of the worst..
Wow that screen is darn durable. All that microwaving and it still remains in one piece.
But... will it blend?
I've watched a few of that guy's videos. He is just creepy as hell. At least "Is it a good idea to microwave this" is actually entertaining.
@Justaguest No, the worst are apple fanboys. Well, apple fanboys and those that assume nintendo fans are automatically going to rage.
@GuyIncognito That is the question... Isn't it.
But I would have liked it if he could have sent that system my way instead of incinerating it. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting to see it get burn't to a crisp, but then it means no one can use it anymore. Such is the price of entertainment I suppose.
This guy's insane! Oh well, at least he burned something I absolutely won't buy.
@Justaguest We will see who is butthurt in a sec!
I'm getting tried of reading the words butthurt all the time

I guess it's alright to destroy it but it could of went to better use, but selling it for two thousand bucks that gets to me, if anyone buys it should get smacked in the face two thousand times.
Do you remember when we used to watch TV instead of wasting hours and hours of wasting our time watching pointless stuff on YouTube?
The fact this gentleman continues to do this suggests a vast amount of people watch these videos and he makes enough money to keep himself in microwaves and expensive electronics.
I'm guessing this guy will want to be microwaved at his funeral... He will get a billion views on youtube
Don't try this at home... Why do you need a degree in microwaveolgy to press a button! These youtubers and their cottage industries!
Wow, I don't think I have ever heard a more annoying voice in my life. The video itself was interesting but my god this guy could not feasibly be more grating than he actually is.
I really REALLY wish Nintendo Life would stop giving this guy free publicity.
This guy encapsulates everything that is wrong with society today. No, I'm not going to watch your pathetic excuse for a video. People, don't encourage this moron by watching it. NintendoLife, you should refrain from giving these people coverage as they don't deserve it. These people always get me incensed, it's not entertainment.
@MrGawain Why is it better to waste time watching pointless things on TV than on youtube? At least on youtube you choose what pointless things to watch rather than zap through all channels 20 times.
I'm not even gonna watch the video, but judging from the article and all the comments here, I can surely say that this guy need to get whacked. "Uhhh, it's his 2DS, he can do whatever derp", sure, he can do whatever, but where are his morals though? Something like a 2DS is a luxury to many, and if he (or anyone) fails to see that, then that's really unfortunate, and that's all I can say about that.
People have never been so ungrateful for physical material like they are in today's twisted society. It's really sad. That piece of technology, source of entertainment could have been donated to someone who deserves it. Shameful
..tsk tsk tsk *spit
LOL this guy is a freak...i love it!
You know, I remember the joy of getting a video game from my parents as a kid. I didn't get that many, maybe three throughout my childhood/adolescence, but they where the most cherished things of my life at the time. The mere idea of these videos makes me think of that rich brat everyone gets to know at one point of their childhood. That spoiled little person that had it all and didn't value nothing he had, but simply took it all for granted. He was a pretty sad kid, actually.
@nik1470 I'm not sure it's the turning the microwave on bit so much as the fireball at the end of it that we're being warned about
@ledreppe to you its not just remember other people like this kind of stuff
@Cinaclov ah for me the most dangerous part would be explaining to my wife why I spent £109 on something just to watch it burn... and destroyed the mircowave in the process
This is not the original guy who used to microwave stuff but one of the many imitations. That guy must be up for the world's creepiest award (that voice alone is still ringing in my ears). Mildly interesting to see how it burned though.
Its sorta scery haw mutch it bernt tbh im suprised haw flamabil it was
I've seen these videos before, and at 4:43 it's sounds like Chuggaaconroy caught a legendary.
All I can think is all the toxic materials being burned up and turned into gases... hope the guy wears a gas mask.
@citizenerased
I just tend to believe David Attenborough documentaries, BBC comedy, HBO drama, and a large amount of well crafted programmes are better than watching this bloke microwave stuff, some university kid unboxing his iPhone 4, a guy play through Mega Man 2, and various copies of a cat playing a piano. All were really watching on YouTube is strangers home videos.
Not saying that all Television is brilliant, but there is still some quality control in certain corners of broadcasting which is lacking on YouTube.
The mentality of buying something solely to destroy it and call it 'art' or 'theatre' doesn't make sense to me.
I'd have been more interested had he used the heat generated by the burning 2DS to heat water and calculate the amount of energy stored within a 2DS.
That would have turned it into a scientific experiment rather than some piece of wanton destruction that he calls art.
O.O
It's one thing to do something like microwave the 2DS, microwaving random things has proven to be entertaining in the past.
But this host is a complete donkey.
Watch the profanity please — TBD
D:
How could you, you... you MONSTER! (T-T)
Great to see it once and for all confirmed that it's one big screen.
Now any discussions I have around the fact it's one big screen can't be disputed by ignoramuses.
Like my modified 2DS Plus idea that combines the two needlessly separated screens into one big screen, so you could watch movies or surf the web on a much bigger and clearer display for example, and simply emulates the dual split screen setup for 3DS/2DS games in software...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhrJhyeVfis&feature=c4-overview&list=UUPRNNGLAaYqhvf_xmif5RiQ
Now a more plausible improvement to the current solution than ever.
See; when people get a little more informed a lot of these ignorance based arguments can be better avoided.
Hey Microwave man! You should be glad you got a more affordable version instead of an upgraded $250 one.
@Goginho So I guess you think All You Can Eat Buffets are satanic, rite
RIP HEADPHONE USERS.
They're microwaving it before we even have a proper teardown?! I'm very curious to see the single screen powered on, but off the casing!
@gsmaciel
That would actually be quite useful to see because I assume it would show perfectly that the machine is basically running some kind of code behind the scenes to generate the two separate viewpoints on that single screen. Meaning it would have been entirely possible to just have a single screen model from the get-go with the visual separation being done in software rather than with a pointless piece of plastic that just limited what could have actually been achieved with a single large screen.
I'll continue to say I think a single screen model with the two display windows separated in software would have been a better solution because then that single large screen could have actually been put to good use for things like viewing movies, reading eBooks and surfing the web at a much larger and easier to see/read size.
@HeatBombastic I guess you're either being a funny guy, or don't get it. This has nothing to do with "satanism" ..being "satanic"
We shouldn't get into this here, but people need to be grateful for the food they have, if that's what you're inplying. There are less fortunate, and we should share as much as we can. At the very least, think about how lucky we really are when when we sit down and eat, no matter the occasion
Peace my brother (or sister)..
This guy is an Idiot. Looks like one to.
@Goginho oh my GOSH he bought it himself what is the issue??? just let it be it's just a handheld it's not the cure for cancer. your statement is ridiculous.
...he is rather annoying, though.
Maybe it's just me, but I really wish he would donate these systems for kids at a homeless or domestic abuse shelter. I've been in the latter and, believe me, those kids need any diversion they can get.
As for everyone watching his YouTube clips... Watch the news. And when that's done, read a book.
@MadAussieBloke Hahaha
Some people have too much money.
What a terrible cook.
@CrabGats lol ironically, I find it ridiculous how you're bothered by my statement
I dunno what kind of devil possessed you, "..it's just a handheld". It's just a glass of water that can save a life..it's just ten dollars..it's just..it's just...
Yet, you ask what the issue is, seeing as how he did buy it with his own money. Well I guess you're right. This guy wasting his money like that for a few meager and measly hits on youtube is nothing compared to the money a government is able to waste for military and what not. Or is it?
Is it the same act, just on a much smaller and less noticeable scale? Is it where it all begins, this deliberately wasteful behaviour? I mean, humans are wasteful as it is, unfortunately, but most are oblivious to it. So you tell me.
Same poopsiedoopsiecacapoodledoodledoggiepoople, different package?
This is the kind of attitude I find pathetic. Obviously some people simply cannot put themselves in others' shoes. Let's pray to God nothing terrible and life-changing happens to such people, otherwise they might experience a change of mind and attitude..oh no
I don't want to guilt trip you or anything, you can continue believing whatever you want. This is just my standpoint, and I will continue to support it. What's your's?
Meanwhile, a Foxconn employee is thinking, "I got screwed out of overtime for THIS?"
I like where this guys head is LOL DOWN WITH 2DS lol
Joke's on him, really. Doesn't affect me at all, and he's down $130.
Plus, Nintendo just made money, since he bought one, and it can't be turned in for resale as a used system. It's really win-win-win all around.
Don't really care about people like this. Just some money waster and a waste of technologies and life.
I use to just fear killer clowns, now I fear that guy
Finally! a use for the 2DS!
My dad had to deal with the aftermath of somebody putting 2 gas canisters and loads of ball bearings into a Microwave (In block of flats) caused absolute mayhem. (Funny the news didn't mention it probably they didn't know).
and that's why pyromaniacs shouldn't have microwaves or ovens, or be left alone with anything that can start a fire......
The video's of people trying to damage (And failing) stuff like the Panasonic Toughbook are pretty good.
Nintendo's build quality seems to be going down to me. Think replacing 3DS circle pad's is going to end up an ongoing cost for me.
Made a nice little bonfire, if that's what you're into I guess. Personally I think I'd have more fun playing with my 2DS than roasting it in a microwave, but I guess if you've got money to burn.... heh heh.. get it? Burn Oh, I crack me up.
man got me there lol.
anyways i think the people upset are just the ones who cant get one and therefore feel the need to place the blame on people able to afford and destroy for the lack of a better term for thier own faults.
so no it wouldnt be better if he sent it to someone who would want it, because that would make it redundant, it is his money after all so hes not entitled to give you anything it isnt a charity.
and its not really a waste because a game system does not contributes to any real progress in life.
@fchinaski Better him than me/sarcasm
In all seriousness, I don't mind the microwaving so much as the gall to charge over $2,000 for a burnt, microwaved, unusable, un-salvageable Nintendo 2DS for over 15 times the amount of just buying a working 2DS! Who in their right mind would be so wasteful as to spend two grand on a hunk of melted plastic?
Only $2000 what a bargin. Or I could just buy one for £109 and microwave it myself.
Nintendo got their money..
He just wasted his..
Nuff said.
I want my 7 minutes back.
That was fairly enjoyable to watch. Not for any other reason besides something sparked and then proceeded to catch fire.
I just feel that he is doing a very dangerous thing because the frame gas from burnt 3DS is probably toxic. He is also wasting a toy that can be given to a poor child who want it, rather than wasting it like this. His other behaviours on this video seem pretty strange and repugnant.
@DarkLloyd Money is not everything. The progress of 3DS would be to make a child smile (assuming that the child would not get addicted because video game addiction is an evil.)
@GreatPlayer, It would make kids smile, theres no denying that, but i still stand by my point that the guy in question is not entitled to give it away instead of doing what he wants with it aka melting it in the microwave
Its not something i would do but im not against it either, i personally either get it for my self or not get it at all in this case im guessing the guy isnt for charity in that form.
He should be put in an oven. Tired of his attention seeking garbage lying to himself and others that it's in the name of art. Pure attention whore and nothing more. A board I'm active on has a member who is a friend of this clown and he'll delusionally defend this fool to the death. I know it's not hurting anyone as they're readily available, but there's something just not right paying good money to do stupid garbage like that. In the end he's a disgusting subhuman being who can do what he wants with his time and money, but it's a shame he can't keep his idiocy to himself instead of infecting others with it so he can get his ego a boost.
