I need to buy a 3DS XL for this game. Looks really good so far, and I can't wait to play it. I just hope that we'll be able to customise our characters.
I don't get the big deal about the R/S/E remakes. We're getting completely new games, and people are moaning because they can't replay the same game on a different console. Can somebody explain this to me?
Eh, I wouldn't really want it on the 3DS anyway. I've been stalling on buying it for my 360, so if it doesn't come to the Wii U, then I'll just go ahead and buy it on the XBLA.
Just a heads up (if it wasn't clear enough), Project Cars and Drive Club are completely different games. Project Cars hasn't been announced for a PS4 release, whereas Drive Club is a PS4 exclusive.
720p @ 30fps is still decent in my opinion, and the game still looks great. The lack of analog triggers is not a big deal in racing games for me, however, I would enjoy using a steering wheel. If there are any Wii U problems, I'll just get it on PC.
All for it. It's sad but understandable that we don't get games like this immediately, but I'd be very happy to finally get my hands on it, whether it's for the DS or the 3DS.
I love Shin'en, so this was an easy one to answer. Dunno what I'd do with £100 though, as I already have Trine 2, MSF:HDE and Chasing Aurora. Suppose it'd be nice to have some credit left over after buying Toki Tori 2, Runner 2, Nano Assault Neo and The Cave.
Good luck to all participants!
@DrKarl I don't understand why people keep saying that like it's a fact.
Look at Bit Trip Runner 2. That had problems that couldn't be detected on development kits, and was only brought to their attention after it was released. They were satisfied with the quality, shipped it, then created a patch for it. Who's to say that they didn't see the problems before it shipped? Not all developers are out to make a game with as little effort as possible.
Shame for the people that wanted it, but I had no interest in it anyway. I hope that Origin thing wasn't real, because God knows EA wouldn't try that crap with Microsoft or Sony. Holding such a grudge would just be petty and unnecessary.
@DlSPOSABLEHERO Gaijin are trying to have the European version out in mid-April. We've got to wait because, and I quote, "to release in Europe, there are several rating agencies, like the ESRB here in the US that require that games be rated prior to release. The ratings process took quite a bit longer on Runner2 than we had previously experienced. Because of this, we are only now starting to submit our European versions to Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. Please be patient and know that the game is DEFINITELY coming."
This was leaked on a list from a games retailer before the Wii U was even released. Hardly surprising if it's actually true.
People can quit supporting Ubisoft all they want, but if they release games like this, Watch_Dogs, Ghost Recon Online and Rayman Legends for the Wii U, with Rainbow Six: Patriots still a possibility, I'll buy their games for my console, no doubt.
@L-Lawliet This feudal Japanese setting that you want in a game? The game that you have described is almost identical to Nazo no Murasamejo. Go pester Nintendo to localize the original/release a new game in the series. Forcing that on to a Mario game would be terrible, in my opinion.
My problem with Mario is not that it's unoriginal, but it's that they have too many Mario games coming out all at once. NSMB isn't the most innovative game ever, but it's a bigger problem for me that there are so many Mario games being released for the Wii U and the 3DS. Seriously, Nintendo have dozens of franchises to call upon. Once sales pick up for the Wii U, they need to move away from Mario for a while and focus on the lesser known games. F-Zero, StarTropics, Punch-Out, StarFox, Wave Race, 1080; just a few of the franchises that could return. With the amount of IPs that Nintendo have, there should be no need to release a Mario game every five minutes.
Ice Climber and Duck Hunt should get sequels on the eShop from Nintendo. I think they'd look good with Rayman Origins-styled graphics. Panel de Pon and The Legendary Starfy should also fall into the eShop category.
1080 and Wave Race desperately need to come back. I think 1080 should return in a similar fashion to SSX; an arcade snowboarding game rather than a realistic simulator. Wave Race should be similar to what it was in 64 and Blue Storm.
Gyromite, and, unfortunately, Earthbound are almost certain not to return. Great games, but I doubt they will see revivals outside of SSB.
I always thought that Gumshoe and Sheriff should be remastered as a third person sandbox and a third person shooter respectively. Detective Stevenson could search a city looking for clues about his kidnapped daughter in a similar fashion to Grand Theft Auto, and Sheriff could flesh out a story around the woman getting kidnapped by bandits, and how the town sheriff and a few townsmen go to save her.
New entries of Star Fox, F-Zero, Excite, Pilotwings, Custom Robo and Metroid are fairly simple ones that don't need a lot of explaining; HD graphics, online and offline multiplayer and exciting single player modes. Simple as.
StarTropics and Nazo no Murasame Jo - two highly overlooked games on the Famicom/NES - could do with new games as well. StarTropics will probably work best in the same way it did on the NES; an eagle-eye view, moving Mike through caves in a similar way to Pokemon and The Binding of Isaac. Nazo no Murasame Jo could be turned into a third person adventure game, similar to it's older, more successful brother, The Legend of Zelda. Combat could take aspects from Ninja Gaiden, in the sense that Takamaru could be proficient with a number of weapons and ninja arts.
Golden Sun, Advance Wars, and Pokemon could very easily make the transition onto a home console, especially now with the Wii U's second screen. Golden Sun could use voice acting, but other than that it doesn't need a shake up of it's formula. Battalion Wars is already on home consoles, but Advance Wars could easily be there too. Gameplay is similar to Fire Emblem, so no problems there. Maybe it could use cut-scenes in between fights to make it more interesting. Pokemon is the obvious "expand the size of the world to anime proportions, 3D Pokemon models, etc". It could also use a trainer creator mode, the ability to travel with a friend online, the chance to become a gym leader/ elite four champion and hang on to your position, and possibly voice acting. Visuals similar to Ni no Kuni, an interactive Pokedex, and maybe the removal of turn-based combat would set it apart from the current portable games, and would still make people want to buy a new game on the 3DS.
Treasure is amazing; and anything like Sin and Punishment & Ikaruga will be perfect for me. Can't wait for the inevitable Sin and Punishment 3 on the Wii U. Oh, and Nintendo, add Isa to SSB4 please?
Xbox is becoming less of a video game console, and more of a home entertainment system. Quite frankly, my 360 is being shot down as soon as my Wii U arrives on the 30th. I have no interest in Halo, Gears of War or Call of Duty; all I want is Forza. And lets be honest, Project CARS looks like it will be a top notch racing simulator. I only own 4 Xbox 360 games, and the Wii U already has 11 announced in the launch window that I want. And that's excluding eShop games and Wii games that I still need. Microsoft need to focus more on making people want a 360 by releasing new games or sometihng, rather than trying to ambush Nintendo's console. With such sleazy business tactics, who in their right mind would want to join them?
I wouldn't be surprised if it sold over a million in Japan over the course of a few days to be honest. 5.5 million in four months? Definitely possible. I think the number will be closer to 7 million come March 31st, if not higher.
Sometimes I wish Nintendo were not always striving to be different. You can't even blame Sega for this. Hopefully Nintendo will create a firmware update that integrates universal voice chat into the Wii U so we won't have to worry about developers making their own independent lobbies, but for a company that's trying to get some of the 360/PS3/PC market on board, you'd think voice chat would be one of the certainties. Voice chat isn't just people screaming obscenities at you, that's a select group of people. What about friends that aren't available for local multiplayer, how will you communicate with them then? Because I don't want to stop playing a game to type numerous messages to them when I could've just been talking to them through a mic. When you race as a team, how will you form strategies? Again, typing is laborious. If you don't like the people online, don't talk to them, but the people that do want it will feel left out in the cold without it. I say the same thing with achievements; if you hate the idea, ignore it. But it should be there so the people who love them can enjoy it. How will it hinder your enjoyment of a game if it's there but you're not using it? Simple answer is it won't, but it will aggravate the people who do want it.
I'd love to camp outside for a midnight release at some stage to meet with other Nintendo fans and the like, but 27 days is just crazy. It's hard to me to understand why someone would be cold, wet, alone, and not doing anything for that amount of time just to buy a console. I wonder how rich he must be.
Great news, nice to hear some information from Ancel. Definitely picking up Legends after Tekken, Nintendo Land and Assassins Creed 3. @triforcepower73 Mario comes out at launch, but Rayman comes out next year. You might want to get Mario first, then Rayman if you can.
New video, still not interested in the slightest. It doesn't jump at me like I hoped it would. Oh well, there are various other games to look forward to.
Would've liked if Captain Falcon's Twister Race was multiplayer with Wii remotes, but some F-Zero action is better than none I guess. I love the fact that Nintendo are tapping into their lesser known franchises, rather than making it the obvious Mario, Zelda, Kirby & Pokemon. Definitely looking forward to Nintendo Land, especially Metroid Blast. I'd love to have some DLC on this game though; an Ice Climber styled platforming mini-game would be pretty sweet.
I don't mind. It will give them more time to create the best game possible. I have other things to look forward to in that time for the Wii U, my existing Xbox 360, and hopefully a 3DS sometime after Christmas.
It will probably be a good game, but to me it just seems like another generic zombie game. I'm much more excited for things like Rayman Legends and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Not a fan of CoD at all, I have no interest in what they're doing. What does bug me though, is the fact that Nintendo are hiding pretty much everything from everyone. If third parties still don't know how online works, that's a major problem. There are a bunch of details about online accounts, Miiverse and the Nintendo Network that we're still unaware of, and that's ridiculous. Nintendo need to stop being so cautious. Stop assuming that Sony/Microsoft will copy whatever you do, and just give us some information.
If you've got a Classic Controller Pro, what's the problem if this doesn't support VC games? Or Wii games, for that matter? Even if you don't, it's not like CCP's are expensive. British members, you can go down to your local GAME and find a new CCP for £5! I would think it would be obvious that it wouldn't work with Wii games. It could've worked with VC games, but it isn't the big deal that most of you are making it out to be.
It won't be Lightning Returns or the reboot of Final Fantasy XIV, because development of Final Fantasy never leaves Square Enix's offices in Japan. Hopefully it isn't Tomb Raider either, I've hated every game in the series and the new one doesn't look like it will change my mind. Kingdom Hearts doesn't appeal to me either. Sleeping Dogs or Hitman: Absolution will be snapped up quickly though. Personally, I hope for Sleeping Dogs more.
Who is that dressed as Captain Falcon? It looks like the big guy himself!
Day 1 purchase for me. Hopefully they announce a DK suit, along with costumes from Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Yoshi, Golden Sun and Kirby. Even if they don't, I'm still buying it.
@HarmoKnight Why would they be hinting anything? It's just a costume, you're over-thinking it. And have you forgotten that Toad is one of Peach's moves? It should stay that way. SSB doesn't need to be ridden with unnecessary Mario characters; this isn't Mario Kart 7.
This article's title should be reworded to say "Games that the Wii U needs." Anyone who's listening to what the reviewers are saying, don't. This is an excellent game. Re: Microsoft: If You're Backwards Compatible, You're Really Backwards
It's funny that he says that. The only thing I've used my Xbox 360 for in the last 4 months is to play Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.
The very slim chance of me buying an Xbox One has become no chance.
