Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'

KingofRedLions

@Samalik You most definitely are bullying, and now you're dredging up the very comment you were previously moderated for, which basically amounts to "I'm furious at you! How dare you object to porn!" Yeah, I get it, you love porn and you can't bear the thought that other people have no interest in it, and take it as a personal insult that others don't want anything to do with it. You basically have no respect for boundaries and refuse to take no for an answer.

Man-hating?! Well, that's a very strange thing to say. I have a lot of love and respect for the good, decent men in my life and I would say the vast majority of the billions of men in the world are good, decent people.

Also outright accusing me of lying as well. I have no idea about what you're referring to because a) I was never aware of blocking in the first place and b) even if I had known, I wouldn't have used it anyway and c) I don't have access to people's accounts so I don't know what people can see or not see when logged in or whatever. I don't even use the ignore feature except in the one case I mentioned, and that was nothing personal.

@Olliemar28 Could a moderator please step in here and check my account details and confirm to this user that I've never used the block feature on him or indeed on anyone. It's not nice to repeatedly be accused of lying and falsely accused of something. I would really appreciate it, thank you.

Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'

KingofRedLions

@PessitheMystic I didn't say that was the meaning though. You misunderstood me. The dictionary defines misandry as 'hatred of men'.

The relevant part of my earlier comment is quoted below:

"I had never heard of misandry before so I looked up the definition and found it tends to be used a lot in certain circles, namely by unattractive, unwashed men who lash out at women for not dating them and blame all their self-inflicted problems on women."

If I had written what you claim, I would have written "I had never heard of misandry before so I looked up the definition and found it means...etc" but I didn't do that; I was referring to its usage. In the first part of my sentence I stated I had looked up the definition of misandry and then in the second part I expanded on that by writing 'and' (meaning also, additionally), which is where I remarked on its usage, i.e. the circles in which it's commonly used.

Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'

KingofRedLions

@Samalik Now you're just bullying. I once made a very mild comment on an article re not wishing to receive porn advertising and you responded with anger and insults, insisting that I had no right to object, amongst other appalling sentiments. My comment that you link to is a response to your disgusting tirade against me. According to you, sexism is objecting to porn and you think I should be banned for that, lol.

I have never called for you or anyone else to be banned. And as for blocking, I don't understand why you accuse me of that since a) I have never blocked anyone and b) I never even knew that was ever a feature here. A member of staff or a mod would be able to 100% confirm that I have never blocked anyone. I am aware only of the ignore feature and I haven't set even you on ignore, despite your nasty behaviour towards me. I have only ever ignored one user, and it's nothing personal there, it's simply that I find his English very difficult to understand.

Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'

There's more to classifying a game than just the aesthetics of it. I don't know about how the US classifications are done but I was told this directly by someone at PEGI who rates the games, that a few people at PEGI play through the entire game before they decide a rating for it. If a complaint is received, e.g. "this game is rated too low, it should be rated 18 due to its content" then the staff will replay the entire game in order to determine whether it should be reclassified or not.

Re: Initially Announced For Wii U, Survival Horror 'Forgotten Memories' Is Finally Coming To Switch

KingofRedLions

@Diaclone_Dad On this video on the developer's channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=351KrPtoDb0
someone else also asked about 4k resolution, to which the developer replied:

'4K resolution is for devices that support UHD resolutions. Switch max resolution is 1080p and it runs at such resolution perfectly fine. Nothing got downgraded on the Switch, except the resolution which is limited to 1080p.'

A bit further down in the comments, he provides more technical details (I barely understood any of it but am quoting it here for people who do):

'We can independently render the scene at 4K and then downscale to the frame buffer size of Switch (which is 1080p and 720p). That technique is called SMAA and it was one of the very first AA technique we tried but we are not doing that we opted other cheaper ways of doing AA.

As for the 4K Resolution, keep in mind this is a Mobile + Switch trailer. What we meant in the video by 4K is just "for devices that support UHD resolutions" such as latest mobile hardware. On Nintendo Switch we are doing FHD rendering. Nothing got downgraded, except for the resolution wich we are limited to 1080p. Hope it makes sense'

He also mentions eventually releasing this on PC and other consoles as well.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw's Remake Scores A Sweet Release On Switch This September

KingofRedLions

I didn't keep a strict count but I think there are at least five different men discussing Juliet's various costumes and outfits in this comment section alone (an observation, not a criticism).

In contrast, there are a bunch of guys who have made belittling comments about Princess Peach and Princess Zelda's outfit changes in their respective games. Why aren't they here in this comment section, complaining that this game features dress-up? Didn't you know it's pathetic when female characters wear different outfits?

There's a definite pattern; those guys have a similar mindset (or may even be the same individuals, idk) as those on here who sneer at and make contemptuous remarks on articles covering games deemed "girly" or, shock, horror, "feminine" particularly when the games have a cute aesthetic, are fashion-themed and aimed at a female demographic.

Why the big difference in attitudes between these games, characters, and their outfits? Rhetorical question. We all know why.

In real life, people wear certain outfits in order to carry out their jobs safely and effectively, e.g. firefighters, paramedics, police officers.

Yet when princesses wear different outfits to reflect their roles/activities in their games, it's merely playing dress-up and is deemed worthy of male contempt.

Guys like that really should take an honest look at themselves and strive to become better humans.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th April (North America)

KingofRedLions

@Ryu_Niiyama That's so helpful, thank you! I have enough credit in my account, so based on what you wrote, I think I'll get those games at some point soon. I also just realised that I have Sushi Shot by the same developer and I really like it.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th April (North America)

KingofRedLions

@Ryu_Niiyama I love games which have food/cooking themes so the Make It! games caught my interest but I wasn't sure about the control scheme(s) and afaik there are no demos.

Ideally I like to play these kinds of games via touchscreen. I only saw the Joy-Con mentioned for one of the games but is it possible to play using the Pro Controller or touchscreen? Also, which control scheme do you find is the best? Thanks in advance.

Re: Fashion Dreamer Releases Its Third Major Content Update On Switch

KingofRedLions

The new outfits look great! I wish these events lasted for longer and were more spaced out though. I only just managed to complete the 14th volume on the final day of the Dramatic Fair and I haven't had time yet to start this new event.

@Anti-Matter Do you already have the Model Debut Nicola games on Switch? Games 1-3 were listed on Deku Deals recently and so far are still Japanese only. Whenever I've seen that happen on Deku Deals, those games eventually released worldwide in English + other languages, so I'm hoping that'll be the case here.

It's actually only thanks to your comments about the series that I ever heard of it in the first place and I got interested from there, so thank you for that!

Re: Fashion Dreamer Goes All Dramatic In First Free Update For 2024

KingofRedLions

For me this doesn't measure up at all to the New Style Boutique games and while still not a fan of the "influencer" angle, I bought this on day one and I'm having more fun with it than I expected, mainly due to the online mode. I get a lot of joy simply from creating stylish outfits for other players (and making them happy too I hope) and that gives me a nice warm feeling inside. I put effort into fulfilling their listed requirements and creating well-coordinated outfits but unfortunately I rarely receive the same from other players. I'm not stating this to be horrible to anyone, just being honest here, but most of the Lookits I receive are quite frankly terrible; nothing matches, the colours clash, the outfits are just a big jumbled mess T_T Oh, well, never mind. I still experience happiness from putting together nice outfits for others and that for me is the main draw of this game

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

KingofRedLions

@Samalik Stop harassing me. I have no interest in knowing about your perverted misogynistic hobbies. I'm not even part of the target demographic for those pornos. I'm female (my username may give the impression I'm male but I chose it because I just really love this character), so it's a real problem when I'm subjected to porn, unasked for. It's totally unwanted and unacceptable. Gaming is a fun hobby for me, my happy place of escapism. Being subjected to porn in the gaming sphere makes it a very unwelcoming place for me.

I really couldn't care less if you think those are 'quality' porn games, it's all the same to me: absolute filth which caters to vile, sewer-dwelling men who enjoy humiliating, degrading and abusing women. The fact that you think normal, healthy people (including women!) would be interested in such filth and you want to force people to see it is highly revealing about yourself. I assure you I'm not 'sealing myself off from a classic in the making', I am never in a hundred million years ever going to feel that I missed out because I opted out of porn. I have a huge backlog of Switch, 3DS and PC games that would take a lifetime to actually get through. I'm sure I'll survive without some crappy porn games. And as to your other suggestion, no one, male or female should ever be told 'no, you're not allowed to opt out of seeing this. You WILL be subjected to porn!'

You're disgusting and pornsick, you have zero respect for boundaries, and refuse to take no for an answer; don't interact with me ever again.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

KingofRedLions

@Impossibilium Heh, my experience on Steam and GOG has been very different, and I'd say Steam for me has turned out to be miles better.

Despite my never seeking them out, my Steam recommendations used to be full of anime porn games for some reason. I play lots of cute cat games and apparently that was enough of a reason for Steam's algorithm to decide it'd be a great idea to recommend hundreds of schoolgirl anime porn games to me. Yes, every single day. It was relentless. Fortunately I was able to discuss this with a developer at Valve and I sent him screenshots of my weird recommendations feed, including some for actual Adult Only rated games that had slipped through the filters I'd set up. I also told him that I'm female, not even the right demographic for those pornos. I remember saying to him it was the equivalent of male readers on Amazon receiving recommendations for raunchy romance novels with a shirtless man on the cover XD

He was really nice and helpful and understanding, and implemented some changes and not long after, my recommendations feed showed a huge improvement and now shows me games I'm actually interested in. Since then, I've bought several games on Steam which I only knew the existence of thanks to receiving recommendations for them, and spent zero on GOG.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

KingofRedLions

@Princess_Lilly Yes, I absolutely agree with you there on the great work by GOG in preserving old games – and getting them to run on newer systems too.

My GOG account is several years old now but I don't recall ever encountering any age or content filters when I created the account or since, or ever being asked if I'm an adult, or even being asked if I'm the target demographic (male) for those porn games.

The emails that I received from GOG were advertising some anime porn but the one I remember seeing on the homepage was some sort of sci-fi porno with characters rendered in a CG, sort of cartoony, semi-realistic art style. This was actually how I learnt that GOG was now hosting porn. There was no announcement, no asking if anyone would like to opt out (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

KingofRedLions

@Princess_Lilly Of the stores you mentioned, the only ones I have any experience with are the eShop, Steam and GOG and I agree, they're all trash cans, including GOG, but for additional reasons to the ones you stated.

I think GOG is actually worse than Steam though. I've seen a hardcore porn game advertised right there on the GOG homepage, no age gates and no way of opting-out of seeing that stuff; I've even received emails from GOG advertising porn games – a new low that even Valve has never stooped to. I contacted GOG customer support about all this but got nowhere.

Re: As Switch Momentum Slows, Nintendo Expects Further Sales Decline Next Year

KingofRedLions

@Nanami_Ataraxia In answer to your question "Do people just play the first parties on Switch and all the third parties/indies elsewhere or something?" I still have all my old Nintendo consoles and they're still working but the only ones in current use are my 3DSes and Switch. I also have a laptop and a gaming PC and use the laptop for games that require a mouse, and/or really old games, e.g. SimCity 4. For convenience I have rebought some of my GameCube and Wii games on PC, e.g. Bully, Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4. And then there are some games which I already owned on PC but then for convenience also bought them on 3DS/Switch.

For me it depends on the price and whether a game has controller support on PC. I tend to like bright, colourful games and don't care about photorealistic graphics, so if a third-party game is cheaper on Switch and it runs well then Switch is my first choice.

Even if they're available on PC, I'll buy time management games on Switch because of the touchscreen.

I bought Neon White on Switch instead of PC because of the rampant cheating on the Steam leaderboards.

I'm a bit peculiar too in that I originally played Castlevania games on Nintendo consoles and the association is so strong in my mind that I won't now buy them on Steam because it feels too strange somehow to play them on PC (also the CV games on Steam don't have full controller support). It's the same with Tetris, The World Ends With You, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, Rune Factory and Ace Attorney games; I'll always choose them on Switch over PC.

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Barbiegurl777 What a hassle, but I'm glad to hear it was resolved!

Hehe, I'm the same, I wait for a sale even for games which are already cheap. I use a combination of Deku Deals and checking the eShop directly because some developers give a further discount on top of the sale price if you already own any of their other games.

Something that surprised me was that it's possible to earn gold points even for activating a code bought from a different retailer. I bought Breath of the Wild DLC elsewhere for less than it cost in the eShop and still got 90 gold points simply for activating the code!

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Barbiegurl777 Thanks so much for those recommendations! I had the first two on my wish list but hadn't heard of Dangerous Relationship before. It's currently half price and I'm downloading the demo right now (it seems to be one of those where the heroine has no eyes, lol). Re the hacking you mentioned, I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope the bank at least returned your money.

@Nanami_Ataraxia Hello Kitty is good medicine XD. I'm glad to hear you're on the mend now.

I agree, the King of Red Lions is the best talking boat ever! (Well, the only one I know of, but still...)

I earnt a lot of gold points from my recent pre-closure 3DS eShop purchases. If you can resist the temptation, what I do is buy the cheaper games instead of using points to get them; it all builds up over time and you could then use the gold points discount on the bigger purchases (easier said than done, I know XD).

I'm not aware of many horror VNs on Switch either but have Kurokami-sama's Feast and Alice's Warped Wonderland: REcollection wish listed. Not sure if even if TEMPEST, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo and Hermitage: Strange Case Files count as horror or not but they seem to be on the darker side of things/contain supernatural elements if those are of interest.

Oh, and if PC is an option as well, there are several free otomes and/or horror VNs on Steam, the majority of which are still on my ever-increasing backlog though...

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Nanami_Ataraxia I tend to go overboard with details myself lol but no, what you wrote was perfect, like a mini review With all the spending I plan to do in the eShop, I'll probably be able to buy this Hello Kitty game with gold points AND on sale - bargain! I forgot to say this last time but I hope you're feeling much better now, and get well soon!

@Nanami_Ataraxia @Barbiegurl777 I also have Lover Pretend wish listed (I'm female, I just chose this username because he's one of my fave characters). Some other otomes which caught my interest are Bustafellows, Variable Barricade, Cupid Parasite, Olympia Soirée. Need to save up a bit more first though XD

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Barbiegurl777 You're welcome I need to clear a bit of my backlog first but Kirby's on my list too.

Oh, that reminds me, I should've included Kirby's Dream Buffet in the list of kawaii games.

You probably already know of it but in case not, Deku Deals dot com is great for wish listing and tracking sale prices. Djungarian Hamster has been on sale four times so far and the game + all DLC would normally cost £16.35 in total but I got it all for £8.15! Going by past peformance, it'll likely go on sale again in summer, so I hope you can get it for a similar bargain price.

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Barbiegurl777 Setting up accounts for different eShops seems like too much hassle to someone as lazy as I am, but I've noticed that some games only have demos for JP/Europe, so it may be worth your while making a new account for the European shop.

Kawaii/girly games that I have on Switch and recommend are:

Pretty Princess Party
Waku Waku Sweets
Stray Cat Doors 1 & 2
Tales of Djungarian Hamster + all DLC
Clouds & Sheep 2
Animal Crossing
Fledgling Heroes
Welcome to Primrose Lake
Pokémon Café ReMix
Puzzle Collection: Complete Edition
Puzzle Galaxy (base game is free, has really nice art, I got the Drawings Bundle DLC really cheap on sale, it contains DLC x 2: Space & Steam, and Cuteness Overload)

Others on Switch but I own on PC:
A Short Hike
Untitled Goose Game
Teacup

If you enjoy food-themed games, there's Julie's Sweets as well as many of the Cooking Tycoon series, e.g. Sushi Time, Sweet Bakery, Pizza, Burger, Food Truck Tycoon etc, although there are so many different editions with varying amounts of DLC included, so it can be confusing to keep track of which editions I already own. They go really cheap on sale though and are decent for what they are; I never encountered any bugs or other issues in any of them and the food looks delicious XD.

Kasiori I'll mention separately. It's a very cute but difficult sweets-matching game; the English text translation is hilarious, it's so bad it's good. The characters all wear sweets/dessert themed outfits and hair accessories and the presentation is super cute, but something I only discovered after buying was that the characters occasionally appear in swimwear. I mainly play as one character, Miru, because her voice acting (entirely in Japanese) is hilarious and expressive. However, her bikini is particularly skimpy and this depiction is clearly meant to be considered sexy, but it doesn't sit right with me because she looks like a little girl to me.

Re your wish list, Little Dragons Café is expensive (although currently on sale) and I've seen reviews mentioning technical issues with the game, so it's worth checking some reviews out first.

Cute, fluffy otomes which I don't own but played the demos of are:
Kitty Love -Way to look for love- (demo is Europe & JP only)
Diamond Girl ★An Earnest Education in Love★ (demo is Europe-only).
These were good fun but the English translation was atrocious in both cases.

Gothic Murder: Adventure That Changes Destiny is more light-hearted fun murder mystery otome than romance (I have it on PC though, not Switch) and wholeheartedly recommend.

If you like fashion games, then also worth mentioning are SELFY COLLECTION The dream fashion stylist! (it's only ever been on sale once, back in 2020, but I got it for less using gold points) and Fashion Dreamer (due out sometime 2023).

Sorry for the lengthy comment...I really should stop now XD.

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

@Nanami_Ataraxia That was super helpful, thank you so much! I really appreciate all the detail you provided.

My only experience playing rhythm action with a controller was the (very fun) karaoke minigame in Sleeping Dogs on PC. I eventually did well enough at it to get high scores but stylus/touchscreen is still always my preference.

Whenever I see rogue-lite/like I immediately lose interest but the cuteness in this game still really calls to me. J-pop tracks are also another plus.

I may still give this one a go, likely on deep sale though. Thanks again for your help, most appreciated

Re: Hello Kitty And Friends Happiness Parade Gets A Last-Minute Delay On Switch

KingofRedLions

This looks adorable! I love Hello Kitty and I love cute things but I was hoping for something food-themed again, like Apron of Magic.

@Nanami_Ataraxia I'd be interested to know your opinion on the game if you get a chance. I don't know how comfortable it'd be to play using the Pro Controller; I've only ever played rhythm action games with a stylus/touchscreen and the eShop doesn't mention any touchscreen support for this game.

@Barbiegurl777 It is already out in the UK, and I suppose everywhere else in Europe too (release date says 13 April 2023) but unfortunately it appears to be digital only, at least for now. Happy gaming to you too

Re: More Indie Developers Are Giving Away Free eShop Codes For Wii U & 3DS

KingofRedLions

FREE to a good home! I found this download code for extra content for HYRULE WARRIORS (Wii U) in the box for Hyrule Warriors Legends.

The code adds a new weapon for Ganondorf and new characters (the card doesn't specify but has pics of Toon Link, Tetra, Linkle, Skull Kid and King Daphnes Nohansen).

Will work in the UK, possibly other countries in Europe too, I don't know.

B0JVPKQP1DBBXCG8

Retyping to be certain:

B0JVPKQP1DBBXCG8

In the Wii U eShop, select 'Enter Download Code' and enter the code, follow the on-screen instructions, start Hyrule Warriors and enter Free Mode, for example. You will now be able to select the extra characters on the Select Warrior screen.

Re: Best 3DS And Wii U DLC You Should Get Before The eShops Close Forever

KingofRedLions

New Style Boutique 2 has several free DLCs, which can only be added in-game, not via the eShop:

01. Spring-Summer Styles Pack
02. Pink Latte - Nautical Casual Pack
03. Pink Latte - FABBY-tacular Pack
04. Three Colour Stripe Pack
05. Sporty Splatoon Pack
06. Peach's Yukata
07. Rosalina's Yukata
08. Animal Crossing HHD Pack

I also checked whether New Style Boutique 1 and 3 have DLC - they don't.

Re: Best 3DS And Wii U DLC You Should Get Before The eShops Close Forever

KingofRedLions

Hi, I made an account just so I could post this

New Art Academy has some DLC, all priced individually at £1.79 each, so buying all 12 comes to £21.48 in total. Within game, navigate to Lessons and from there to Add-On Content to purchase the DLC:

01. Mixing Paints
02. Pointillism & Textures
03. Fur & Feathers
04. Paint like Monet
05. Drawing Birds
06. Illumination
07. Paint like Van Gogh
08. Reflections
09. Glass & Light
10. Expressionism
11. Life Drawing
12. Paint like Turner

I only just found out about this DLC late last night and bought them all this morning. I also checked if Pokémon Art Academy has any DLC but it doesn't.

PS Thank you so much for this helpful article! I had no idea about the Ace Attorney DLC but have now bought them all.
