I've read about this some years ago that it was 'somewhere hidden on a computer in their offices', and i find it very strange that it is 'kept so secretive'. Maybe it is up to us gamers, to fit the pieces together ultimately. The Metroid-series has a time-line too which is mostly known now by gamers. Does Mario have a timeline too, from the baby-mario to what, the paper mario?! Would be odd.
It's really, REALLY sad to see these once 'great developers' give away their own responsibility, creativity and all in all their heart by running to western developers and letting them to do their work for them. Konami, Capcom, Namco and now....Square...
@WiiLovePeace He should create, that is my point. But as just as i said, you can NOT create something with a secondary motivation. Otherwise you are no artist, or you forgot how it actually is to be a artist. I'm an artist myself, and i never ever made the intention to create a innovative thing, ever. I cannot say that sometime this year i will paint a great landscape painting. The motivation would be a ambitious one, which is imposed onto the creation by force and not dedication and love.
Remember, I'm not bashing Miyamoto as such, i think as a true gamer one should be absolutely critical on such subject matters. If you're not, you allow mostly lousy products to fill the shelves as it actually is for a while now. Miyamoto is no god, he is a human being like you and i, and just like everybody else he needs time and space to express himself, which is the main key to innovation.
When you're ready to create something, you put it together immediately, you begin scratching gently and let it develop naturally. Actually the word 'ready' cannot be found in an artist's mentality, for you open yourself up to be in a creative state or you close yourself off by limitations you put upon yourself like time or money or whatever. An artist loves creativity, he loves development, he loves things that grow as all nature does. So, you're not gonna say to a Van Gogh that you want a great masterpiece within a certain period of time! You're not gonna say:"Well now i am ready, let's create someting..." or "Sometime in the future i will be a great artist". You're ready or not. And whatever the case may be, as an artist you keep it to yourself, you don't brag about it.
He shouldn't talk about creating a new IP since creativity is a spontaneous process. You cannot force yourself to create something wonderful, as it must come natural to you; let it grow as a flower. Do, but do not talk fist, and then thereafter start doing. Mario and all his other creations didn't come into being by imposing or forcing the will by wanting to get something done; they are all spiritual, spontaneous and therefore intelligent creations. And one who doesn't understand that, doesn't understand making or enjoying true works of art, like the great videogames or even paintings.
You don't sit down and begin to paint with the intention of making 'the most amazing painting ever'; you sit down and let the brush and yourself become one, adjusting and in the end creating something you didn't suspect at all, it is a process of surprising even yourself. As in his own case, he didn't announce first that he was going to create a great something and luckily thereafter Mario was born : Mario & co. were made without an secondary intention behind them, they were not created on demand from himself or from another.... :s No, this is not a very good sign from Miyamoto-san as his motivation is a anti-natural, anti-artistic one, all too deliberate.
Nintendo is at least the only one who makes consoles, on which actually videogames are being released, instead of the overdose of 'virtual soldier and gangster-simulations' sarcasm
Whenever one like Goldeneye oo7 or not, fact is that the games-industry is nowadays infected with violent, mindless, war-simulations like the new Kane & Lynch, Operation Flashpoint, the zillionth Medal of Honor, Call of Duty part 100, Ghost Recon 'we want to create fake gamers with a mentality of future soldiers'-rubbish that that game began. I am a Westerner, but i can tell people this; the true games industry is slowly dying from these dominant Western developers and it's healthy future lies in the hands of few companies who didn't forget that shooting does not have to be equal to fun at all. It does not mean i don't like the first Goldeneye, Resident Evil or a Tomb Raider or a No More Heroes even, but it's CLEARLY a other form of violence. Instead of being a virtual soldier or gangster, you're an adventurer, that's a wholeee lotta difference!
Microsoft should fix their own hardware quality assurances before they create any new hardware at all. The ring of death is a common problem, even if you treat your stuff extremely carefully as i do. Sure it has a couple of good games like Namco Museum Arcade, Star Ocean, Elder Scrolls IV, Bionic Commando Rearmed and Rez HD, but Nintendo and Sony ultimately outweighs them as their hard and software are top quality...
By the way the designer of the original Playstation was in fact responsible for the insanely unsurpassed SPC700 sound processor for the Super Nes which rivals even modern soundcards. To this day, i find the Super Nintendo soundtracks the best ever.
Secret of Mana was one of those games that would've been a cd-rom based game by the way... There are more of these 'lost' consoles by the way, even from Nintendo themselves.
Galaga, Pac-man and.....Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaacerrrrrrrrrr! Hopefully this time with a NICE commentary like the ones in Rage Racer and Ridge Racer Revolution...
Hehe, you need competition if you want to improve your own products. It is called inspiration, there is nothing bad about that. Without the N64 and Super Nes having ever existed, there wouldn't have been a Dreamcast, Playstation and it's follow-ups ever existed. Without the PS2 and PSP there wouldn't be a 3DS, definitely! Sony i respect, but Microsoft not, after their great X-Box releasing a hardware failing (ring of death) 360 (and yes, i treat my hard and software very very careful!!!)...
It is in fact the intro music in Super Metroid on loop, haha. Nice trailer by the way, Like the new Donkey Kong Country and Goldeneye, a must-have of the year...
I can guarantee you that Nintendo oversees the development of the game to make sure everything fits like a glove. I must admit i'm still stunned, it looks great, and i bet it plays the same too. Along with the new Donkey Kong Country and Metroid : Other M, the potential game of the year.
Great, great game. It looks even nicer since it is upgraded with a progressive scan and it has 16:9 support. So you won't have to, like in the first Resident Evil, stretch the video-mode manually.
"Gamers wanting a new Resident Evil game that's closer to its third-person roots could very well get their wish granted as Capcom unveils the latest instalment in the franchise at E3 2010."
Well unfortunately i'm not one of those gamers. I absolutely dislike the way that the franchise is steered in. As i made a comment on Youtube on Resident Evil 1.5 (The original, and unreleased Resident Evil 2) :
"Zombies, howling hounds, other mutated animals, hysterical and atmospheric music, urban environments and static 2D, rendered perspectives that enforces the uncomfortable feeling as a gamer : Resident Evil...R.I.P"
This game should be released some day, because THIS is Resident Evil. and not those phoney 4 and 5 ones
Finally it is in the open now that Nintendo needed some time to express themselves that they haven't forgot about hardcore gamers at all! Nintendo stole E3's entire limelight! Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Solid 3, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country, Kid Icarus Uprising, Zelda OOT remake and Zelda Skyward Sword....DAMN!
Jeeeeeeeeeej!! Finally a proper Ridge Racer on a Nintendo system... Ridge Racers on the PSP were great remakes of my favourite Racers ever, and this looks even nicer.
Underrated, will be a sought after classic in a matter of time, believe me. It's difficult at times, not very fast pacing but sheer atmospheric and suspenseful because of it. Some camera-views will really take one's breath away. Nuff said!
Great games, but a lot of wasted disc-space that could've been occupied with other classics like Daytona USA, Virtua Cop 1 & 2 and Virtua Fighter 1 & 2
Dark game, very complex and very amazing. It's like A Link To The Past in a way, as you can travel between a dark and light realm to solve puzzles in one other.

Exactly my thoughts! Same story applies to the Wii...
What are they expecting? That success will be unlimited?

Re: Our Perceptions of 3DS Metal Gear Further Solidify
Old news. As i already said on the 27th of June as a comment on 'the game' :
"It seems that this is a Techdemo and NOT a game as such. Just Like the Final Fantasy VII one for the PS3...
Konami has not decided if the Metal Gear they're gonna release will be in fact a new instalment or a previous one."
But i'm glad more people know it now for they might set their hopes on a certain title that might never be released at all...

See Wiki entry.
