@aresius Can you tell me why this game is fun? I've never heard of it before, and from the video review it seems sooooo hectic. Do you have to quickly move all over the place to micromanage things and departments, or will they give you time to do what you want?
No chance on the PS5 and XSX reducing the Switch's popularity to nothing. The Switch will survive the next-gen launch, and even thrive on just on the release of first-party games from Nintendo alone!
@nintendork64 You can buy the digital version, and both you and your wife can play the game on both of your Switches... at the same time. That's what I'm doing with ours. Cheers.
@mesome713 That's funny, because my wife just finished Cat Quest today. I've been waiting for Cat Quest II to go on sale. I'm glad you liked the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon demo. Cheers.
@SalvorHardin The Switch Pro doesn't exist right now for one reason only, and that is because the Switches are still selling like hotcakes. If that continues next year, we will still not see a Pro. But if it doesn't, and sales of the Switches start to decline due to the PS5 and SXS releases, then there is a good chance we'll see Nintendo releasing the Pro Switch. Honestly, I believe Nintendo can mitigate any negative impact from the Next-gen launch by releasing their arsenal of triple AAA, first-party games around the same time.
Nintendo knows how popular the Animal Crossing IP is, so they think they can get away with anything, while the fans are left behind. This is pure egregiousness. It's arrogance, and it reminds me of Sony's PS3 launch level of arrogance after coming off from a record-breaking PS2 sales.
@krvstkvlt It's not that it wasn't very fun, but more like it was extremely lacking in content. Surfing is no fun due to a lack of skill moves. It's just a single button press, same with badminton. The 8-bit events are extremely fun, but there's just not many of them.
Cyberpunk 2077 is meant to be played on a high-end PC, PS5 or XSX, not on the Nintendo Switch. They got my favorite game of all times, The Witcher 3, running on the Switch. But just ask anyone, and they will tell you the experience is way subpar!
Focusing on the software is key to mitigating any impact the PS5 and XSX will have. Having been away from Nintendo since the Gamecube, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the older games, especially from the Wii U, being ported over to the Switch, with games like Mario 3D, Paper Mario and Mario RPG.
@SwitchForce I have no timeline. I want a Pro just as much as the next guy. We were debating Nintendo's latest announcement. And my thoughts were that they were quite clear in their wordings that there will be no new Switch hardware in 2020.
@PorllM Well. Platinum games released the photo along with the hints that something is up. I have to agree with everyone that The Wonderful 101 may be coming to the Switch, and the Switch only. If you look carefully at the picture, you can see a Switch there in the photo that they had chosen to release this statement. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Dino Crisis remake as well.
@Tourer145 Do I need to play the first one before playing the 2nd one? They say the 2nd one is the better game, so I'm just wondering if I could just skip the first.
@sanderev In that quote, Furukawa said, "We are not considering a successor or a price drop at this time." He was right, since there were no successors to the Switch nor a price drop in 2019. There were the Switch Lite and a revisioned Switch, but none of those were the successor, like a Switch 2. In this quote, Nintendo said, "Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model in 2020." That was an emphatic statement. There will be no new Switch models of any kind in 2020, unless you believe that Nintendo will release a Switch successor with a different model name not "Switch" only 3 1/2 years after the Switch was released?
@Lemonyoshi By then it would have been 4 1/2 years old, so might as well wait a few more years to release a Switch 2, with a proper, more modern CPU/GPU chipset.
@Investor9872 Now that is very likely. The Switch is selling so well, and depending on what sort of 1st-party softwares are coming out in the fall to mitigate the impact of the PS5 and XSX releases, Nintendo will sell a boat load of more Switches. I would love to be able to pick up a Switch Pro or a Switch XL this year, but it does seem more than likely that Nintendo doesn't need to release another system till 2021.
@Lemonyoshi Why do you think that the PS5 won't come out until 2021? That's highly unlikely. The XSX is coming out this fall. Everyone is reporting that both systems will be out this fall. The PS4 and XB1 came out at the same time in the Fall of 2013. The only time when the PS3 came out a year after the XB360 was because the PS2 was still selling really well, totaling 150 million + when all said and done. The PS5 will be out this Fall.
@jamesthemagi. This. The Switch Lite has already position itself as the 3DS successor. Those 3DS owners look to finally make the switch over to the Switch, they will push the sales numbers to over 100 million easy.
@sixrings For me, the ability to play games at a stable 60 fps is the most important, followed by resolution/graphic, fast load time and then handheld mode.
Great article! I would love to see more of these kinds of articles to help shift through the mountains of shovelwares of games that go on sale constantly on the eShop.
It was a challenge for me to only pick 3 features of what I want in a Switch Pro. But ultimately, the most important feature for me is an improved, current and more powerful CPU and GPU. I have a $40 LG phone that has a more powerful CPU than the OG Switch. That's egregious! The next feature that I want on my Pro is an improved, larger, higher contrast, 1080P screen. Finally, the Switch Pro, by name, has to output in 4K, but if all 3 features cost more than $400, then I Nintendo can drop the 4K for the first two features on my list.
@redpython I've completely a heck of a lot more than you can imagine, unfortunately, and all of them when you come to a battle, let you pick a move (an attack, defense, magic or run away). Seems like you're the one who haven't played many. I've been gaming for over 40 years, and have never run across anything so simplistic in an rpg as this Pokemon remake, not even an action rpg is this simplified. It's definitely not worth the full price of admission. But to each his own!
Call it streamline or whatever you want, but it's asinine to have random attacks instead of choices in a battle.

Where are these Nintendo games made? In China? I'm wondering if it's a good idea to disinfect the case and game when it arrives? I'm in the US.
