Re: Rumour: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX Partnering Up for 3DS eShop

One of my all-time favorites. I actually really miss the sprites from the older games in the series; the graphical style in Dream Team and Paper Jam isn't terrible, but I'd rather see cleaner sprites again--or something that closely resembles the concept art at the top of this article; if this series ever comes to Switch, it would be beautiful if stylized like that concept art.

Re: Character Art From Forthcoming Disney Wii U Title Emerges Online

IanMage

While it may not be fair to say that Disney has completely lost it's creativity, I would definitely agree that they're not nearly as good as they used to be.

@CosmoXY When it comes to animated films, in particular, the academy actually doesn't take their voting very seriously. They still regard animation as a "genre" rather than an art form, which drives animators like Brad Bird and myself insane.

This article shows that certain members of the academy vote for animated films even when they haven't viewed all of them and should have abstained from voting.

Re: One Of The Most Successful Nintendo Games Of 2014 Isn't What You'd Expect

IanMage

I've never been so disappointed by a Disney film. The movie tried to be bold in changing the Disney formula, but the characters and plot were so poorly developed that I couldn't stay invested in it. It wasn't terrible, but it doesn't deserve the hype it's been getting. Best Disney movie of all time? Really?

I guess the sales of this licensed movie-tie-in game is evidence of just how over-hyped and overrated it is as well as how large the user base is.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

IanMage

@ChuJelly I noticed that too. I think the screen does darken automatically when in a dark environment; when the background of the demo video darkens, the "old" 3DS screen remains bright, while the "new" 3DS screen automatically adjusts to the darkness.
It wasn't mentioned in the article, but I told Thomas to include it in an update.

@ThomasBW84
From 20:55 to 21:24 of the Direct video, it looks as if the new Nintendo 3DS can adjust its screen brightness according to the lighting of the environment you're playing it in. Maybe this should be mentioned in the article, as minor as it is?

Re: AlphaDream Currently Has No Plans For The Mario & Luigi Series On Wii U

IanMage

I think that if they were to release a console game, they should make the characters look as they do in the concept art of all of the other M&L entries. I don't think the games would lose their charm if this were to happen.

Anyways, Superstar Saga is my favorite game of all time, so I have great respect for the people behind these masterpieces.

Re: Kingdom Hearts III Highly Unlikely To Appear On Wii U

IanMage

I've already voiced my opinion on Square's decision and I see it as a slap to the face of its Nintendo fan base.
I'm hoping that the Wii U eventually gets a port of KH3, even if it's released long after the PS4 and Xbone release and even if it's the inferior version.
The talk about specs preventing the development of a Wii U version is all an excuse; developers need to actually go through the effort of learning how to port to Wii U. Afterall, what kind of company values specs over their fans?

Re: First Impressions: Super Mario 3D World

IanMage

@Yoshi3DS They already started this pattern a long time ago with the original Super Mario Land> Super Mario World> Super Mario Galaxy> and then the Super Mario UNIVERSE that we were all expecting this to be.

Super Mario Galaxy is already 3D, so I don't think this new "3D series" has any reason to continue. They must be making Super Mario Universe... until then, I'll gladly play Super Mario 3D World.

Re: Nintendo Won't Be Holding A Large-Scale Press Conference At E3 This Year

IanMage

I am slightly disappointed, because I really was hoping that Nintendo would have an epic reveal of the next Zelda game for Wii U; my hopes of seeing a reaction similar to the one with the revelation of TP are now crushed. At the same time, last year's E3 was weak and some of the Nintendo Directs were more exciting. I have a good feeling that we might actually get some downloadable demos of revealed games to compensate for the lack of a stage presentation. At least I hope so... heck, that would be more exciting than any past E3.

Re: GameStop: Wii U Will Need Great First Party Titles To Compete

IanMage

I can't stand the marketing for the Wii U. If people still think that the Wii U is an accesory for the Wii, isn't it obvious that Nintendo needs to advertise it with a clear message that "This is not a Wii; it's an entirely new console with HD graphics and a gamepad." Something as simple as that would be enough to get the message across.

Of course first party titles will sell this system. Mario Kart, 3D Mario, HD Zelda, and SUPER SMASH BROS. will be crucial. I'm still waiting for a good Wii U game...

Re: Pachter: Wii U Will Sell Between 30 to 50 Million Units During Its Lifetime

IanMage

I can't believe he thinks the PS4 or "Durango" is going to sell almost the same number of units as the Wii did. If the PS3 and Xbox360 never came close, why would consoles of this generation have a better chance at doing so? If anything, consoles of this generation should be expected to sell fewer units, given the high prices of consoles and games.
And, basically, anyone who predicts the number of units sold, before the freaking console is even RELEASED, has no common sense.
Does he think the Wii U's sales are going to stay constant? Just wait until the next Zelda, 3D Mario, and SSB (that one especially) are released for Wii U; the sales will increase like crazy. Look at how the 3DS started; it had no good games at the start, but once the first party exclusives came out, it became the best selling console in Japan. I predict the same thing will happen with the Wii U.
