I just caught this update as I returned to the home menu after playing Phantom Hourglass. It makes me so happy that the Wii U is still relevant š Favorite gaming console and it always brings me back for more
I never got a chance to play. The game wasnāt matching me up correctly. Every time I clicked the tri-color turf war option I ended up in a regular open match, sometimes against other players from my same team (rock). I couldnāt decide if the game was glitched or something
@BlubberWhale Tbh itās a bit confusing the transition of oot to botw and alttp so donāt worry š Either way cool story from Alana. The Deku tree definitely is a fair bit scary
@Olliemar28 I believe Alana intends to say āKokiri Forestā rather than āKakariko Villageā Not criticizing just pointing out what may be a mistake š
@Morph @Ooyah
Prime 1 should take you somewhere around 20 hours to beat first time plus or minus a few hours. It is completely normal to struggle with some of the boss fights. Prime 3 is a few hours less than that thanks to things like restarts directly from the boss fights and being a shorter and easier game in general. I think what @AstroTheGamosian is trying to say is that it took them less than 24 hours to 100% prime 3 and that it must be less than 24 hours to beat prime 3.
Prime 2 is the longest of the three as it is the most difficult and has lots of backtracking. I would say 2-5 hours longer than prime 1.
@Rykdrew @Pikman This is assuming that the user base grew relative to console numbers which is not necessarily the case. Likely the user base may have doubled or more, but it has not quintupled, so sales based on the fansā parts are not that much weaker than Prime. It may also have something to do with MercurySteam haters and/or 2d game for the AAA price tag like Rykdrew said. In theory itās a lot easier for consumers to justify buying Prime.
@fafonio I mean, retro studios said it would be very hard to convert prime 3 to button controls because of how everything within the game is designed, but I donāt see why Nintendo canāt put both prime 1 and 2 into a package or just leave prime 3 with motion controls. It literally makes no sense if this is true.
@Gryffin Yeah for whatever reason critics tend to diss on prime 2 in favor of 3, but it seems that most people (myself included) believe that prime 3 is a little iffy. The atmosphere isn't as good and the game isn't quite as well designed. The worst part of the game is the first couple hours, so I encourage you to push through and make it to Skytown where the game just gets better. Nun-chuck controls are a little frustrating, but if you can look past what it doesn't do so well you can see how the game holds up even compared to the other two games. I had trouble with the first bit of prime 3, but once I got to the good parts I couldn't stop playing. š
@KayFiOS I first played corruption in veteran mode because I had heard the difficulty was rather easy. Mogenar was probably the worst boss in the game for me. Not too bad though, you really have to use different strategies each time around. Itās generally best to destroy his weak points one at a time, so that he canāt regenerate them. Then just try to avoid his attacks, so you have as long as possible to wear him down. Make sure you have all the energy tanks you can get as that really helps in this run. I would not recommend starting over as there is a lot you would have to do over again, and missing a scan is not the biggest deal. Plus, right after Bryyo you get to one of the best parts of the game: skytown.
My first Zelda memory (actually one of my first video game memories) was watching my brother play Twilight Princess. He swung Linkās sword and rode across the land on Epona like it was an art. I also remember the day we first got Skyward Sword on the Wii and we were so gosh darn excited to play it that we immediately rushed downstairs and started it. Great memories from some of my favorite video games!
Iāll be diving into Xenoblade Chronicles X sometime soon. Had to order a large usb drive so I could download the game on my Wii U. Looking forward to it as I seriously enjoyed the other two Xenoblade games.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Probably the closest Zelda game to being the opposite from Botw. Itās a lot more restrictive, but I didnāt really like Botw while SS is one of my favorites. Itās got a lot of solid story and the dungeons are all very clever!
Iām pretty sure the original game doesnāt tell you what a heart is every time. A better example would have been an amber relic but even thatās like once per loading the save file.
Groose - The best video game character ever! Literally I would lose my mind if he was the next dlc character, and it would make my smash petition good for something. Groose fans unite!
I just finished Xenoblade definitive edition and plan to start the second one soon. I might get X at some point but it takes up so much space on Wii U. Iām going to need a large usb drive.
@Oswinner Yeah, I figured out that the prime trilogy was easier. Normal on GameCube is equivalent to veteran on trilogy. Echoes is definitely harder in veteran difficulty. I also think I was more experienced going through echoes than when I was first playing Prime 1. Now Iām working on Prime in hypermode and getting through the Phazon Mines. Not easy!
Iāve been playing me some Crash Bandicoot 4. After I finish it I plan on returning to Mario Galaxy 2 to collect the rest of the green stars. I just ordered Metroid fusion and zero mission for my ds lite and am looking forward to playing them in the near future.
I grew up on the Wii version of TP and it is one of my favorite Zelda games. Interesting how this article mentions so many great things about tp, but all they will say about it is how the reverse map caused them so much trouble. I was looking forward to tpās anniversary article, so maybe make another one that highlights the good stuff? Just a suggestion...
Question: Why is Echoes considered so hard? I had an easier time with it than prime 1, and found it super chill and fun. Also, you should add AM2R to the list.
I have been playing Hollow Knight recently. Beat it a little while ago, but came back for more stuff that I missed. Iām really into metroidvanias lately. Canāt wait for Silksong (if it ever comes)!
Where did 3d world come from out of nowhere on this list? Itās pretty fun, but like come on guys, is it really number 1?
I definitely put Galaxy as my number 1, beautiful worlds, beautiful music, best overall game in my opinion. Galaxy 2 fixed most issues with Galaxy 1, but I still like Galaxy 1 just a little better.
Finished Metroid Prime 2 and loved it, now working on Prime 3. Though something about Prime 3 really bothers me - it feels way different from the other prime games, but I just canāt place it. The music isnāt quite as good and it doesnāt give me those secluded vibes Metroid is known for.
@DrDaisy Shields are the only thing that can break, but you can repair them pretty easily and there is an unbreakable shield though you get it pretty late in the game.
I have been playing Metroid Prime Echoes and that utilizes the dark world in a totally different way than Alttp. Though, alttp probably gave some inspiration; itās an amazing game and probably my favorite Zelda game. The 2d is just so classic and fun to play. I agree that there is definitely no āhand holdingā going on. It requires a lot of exploration, which is part of its charm.
