@Cashews Think you’ll be waiting for some considerable time with that one. Nintendo first party games take blooming ages to have any discount and even then it’s not much.
As a 48 year old hard working gamer it’s really nice to see that depicted in this advert. I’ve always felt somewhat embarrassed pulling out my switch on planes for example. It’ not just a youngsters hobby.
@GrailUK Appreciate the time you took to answer my question. It’s clearly a great game as it gets amazing scores across the board. I’m very early (1.5 hours in or so) and I’m still very much finding my feet on how the game works. I hope I get as much enjoyment from it as you clearly do. Oh and Halo combat evolved was a 10/10 on release in 2001 (I think it was) Blew me away and I’d never seen anything like it. They’re clearly both exceptional games in their own right.
@GrailUK First time for me as although I’ve been gaming for 30 years on all systems this passed me by. I’ve only just started it. Seems cool but why do you say it’s perfect?
Played it on release but bought myself a copy off e bay (with a hefty price tag) a while back. Just started. It and on chapter 3. Loving it all over again and puts the new versions of the franchise to shame. Origami king was utterly boring.
I absolutely love Mario kart and one of my first ever games on the snes was super Mario kart which ignited my gaming habit. Likewise Mario kart 8 deluxe is such a fantastic complete package… These new DLC tracks however are unbelievably bland. Looks like Nintendo have made minimum effort to get maximum profit and have just stopped caring. I personally won’t be purchasing atm and if the rest are like this it’s a no from me……gutted.
@steventonysmith Born in 74 mate. Gaming since the early 80’s. Can I afford it? Yes of course I can but I think they’ve priced it too high and won’t be upgrading. It seems I’m not alone in this thinking. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion though.
I would be playing Dread but am stuck on map 3 and keep going round in circles! Lol I’ll pick it up again soon. In the meantime I bought Sackboy on the PS5 (for a bargain £33) which I love but trying to complete levels is proving challenging I have to say….yes I’m a pretty average gamer! 😁
@Euler Just to correct you most Wii’s do not play GameCube games. I bought a Wii last year for the duel purpose of it being able to play GameCube and Wii games and it’s only the early models that have this capability. After that they switched the models and they can only play Wii games. Just for anyone who is considering this option.
Also on a side note I spent about £120 on TTYD at the same time. Steep price for sure but personally Nintendo don’t pander to what the fans want and Im not sure this game will ever be remade again so copies will only ever go up in price. Lastly (and my opinion only) I thought the Origami King was very bland and although looked pretty wasn’t anywhere near TTYD and super paper Mario. I sold my copy after playing around half the game.
Genuinely torn whether to buy this. It gets great reviews and looks really interesting but I’ve never played any Metroid games (despite owning every Nintendo console since the SNES). I’ve never played Hollow knight and have dabbled with Ori (which I enjoyed but got stuck). Don’t know whether to chance this or not?!
This game and Super Mario Kart got me into gaming in 1992. I was 18 at the time. Went round my brothers friends house and he was playing Mario kart. Thought I’d have “grown out of it” by now but let’s be honest you never grow out of our wonderful hobby. It’s just too much fun 😁
@FishyS Blimey I didn’t know you could purchase so much for the Switch! I own all 3 consoles so my games are spread over over them totalling 50 - 60 at a guess.
@Ocaz That’s fair enough. I own all 3 consoles so probably own 50 - 60 games in total I guess. Great you love switch so much. Nintendo were my first gaming love back in 1992 and I always buy there console too.
Bought both Spelunky games earlier in the year on PlayStation. To anyone thinking of getting them they’re superb but be under no illusion these are bloody tough games and you’ll do well to progress more than a few levels.
@Teksetter
I bought both of these on PlayStation not too long ago.
As recommended definitely get the first one and if you like it the second later.
Be aware also these are undoubtedly excellent games but I’m not lying when I say they are the hardest games I’ve ever played.
As long as you’re ok with that then it’s fine but for most average gamers progression is slow as you’ll die over and over!
I consider myself a salesman’s dream tbh. I have the PS5, Series X and the Switch. There’s zero chance of me feeling the need to buy this. Nowhere near enough of an upgrade for me to part with my money and in all honesty I feel like Nintendo are having a laugh with this. So little has been upgraded yet the expectation is for the consumer to spend another £300. I’ll stick with the original Switch until they give me a proper reason to change. Genuinely don’t understand anyone that already owns a Switch being tempted by this but we’re all different.
@Ludovsky Appreciate the response that you’ve clearly thought out and have knowledge about too. You obviously make valid points but the likelihood is even with anniversaries all we’re going to get is a bunch of games that have been out previously and have been given a coat of paint and then they charge £50 for them. This doesn’t really cut it with me tbh. The switch is fast becoming a console of old games ported on to it as it’s so successful. I just want new games of some games the great franchises that Nintendo have made over the years. Where’s? Metroid prime? F zero? An actual new Switch Mario kart and not a port. Maybe Mario strikers? A new switch Sports game (similar to wii sports) I’m sure there’s loads more that I can’t think of atm. It would be nice to have some new titles to look forward to. That’s all
Really disappointing. Nothing I’m remotely interested in. I love and hate Nintendo at the same time. Just give all the big hitters we all want for the love of God. They’ll sell like hot cakes but typical Nintendo give us a few average titles and another rehash of a game.
I just will never understand Nintendo. Possibly the most frustrating company on earth to support.... They’ve so many loved franchises that people are desperate for and what do we get? Mario Golf, yet another splatoon and an old Zelda game and a bunch of games i have zero interest in. I’ve been a fan since 1992 when I got my first Super Nintendo and an now in my mid 40’s so I should stop having high hopes for their announcements. Just give me a NEW Mario kart already!
I’ll wait for the reviews. I have an apartment but could probably lay out a track. Having seen the new trailer it does look kinda cool. Will only be a single player game though at that price
Having been a Nintendo fan since 1992 when I was 18 (I’m now 45) I’m probably shouldn’t be as excited as I am to play this! Lol I loved the original and bought a DS solely to play the follow up before selling it again. Roll on Thursday!
Please excuse my ignorance here and I’m genuinely not trolling but what’s the big deal about having to sign in to play Doom and Doom 2? I get it’s annoying but people saying that aren’t buying it just because of that seems crazy to me.
Just downloaded and played 30 mins of Doom 3. Personally one of my favourites and loved it on PC when it came out in 2003.
Have to say looks and plays superbly in docked mode. Haven’t tried on the go yet but this is silkily smooth and I’m really pleased with my purchase.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong's Upcoming Patch Will Nerf The Difficulty In Certain Areas
@link3710 I would estimate it took me about 80 attempts to beat Moorwing.
I’m not particularly great at these games but do enjoy them.
He was a bugger indeed.

Woohoo. Downloading!

Blimey that sucks.
I missed the Black Friday sale last year but I heard there were double the amount of games on sale then….
Re: Nintendo's Huge Switch Sale Begins, More Than 1,000 Games Discounted

Same. I’ve got around 12 indie games on my wish list and only Ori is discounted.
Shame….
Re: Mario Strikers: Battle League Kicks Off On Switch This Summer
Really looking forward to this.
Loved the original on the Gamebube.
Excellent news
