Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Won't Be As Powerful As PlayStation 4

Hong

Not like we needed a public statement to know Nintendo hasn't been about power for the past 15 years.

I also don't necessarily think this means a gimmick; If they make a console that's cheap to manufacture, easy to develop on, and has an appealing software base, it will sell. Nintendo's strength is in their IPs and their affordability.

Re: Talking Point: Mii, Myself and I - The Arguments For and Against Miis in Super Smash Bros.

I don't care about them, but they are considered a feature of Nintendo's products, so may as well.

Ultimately I don't care about which characters show up, so long as there is variety and they represent Nintendo's history as a whole. The characters merely need to be fun, and they need to be balanced. We can't judge neither until we've had the opportunity to play as them ourselves.

Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away

As a feminist, I have no issue with the portrayal of women in a game designed for sexual gratification.

My issue is when the sole representation of women in a product are to be victims or sexualized, or just obnoxiously designed based on some narrow scope of what it means to be a woman, in products where sexual or romantic themes are not the core value. Cases where male characters are treated like actual... people. This includes tropes such as the damsel in distress, bikini armour, and the token pink female.

Re: Wii U Lifetime Sales in Japan Overtake the Xbox 360

The strongest appeal XBox had in Asia is the online service is great for fighters. Now you can play most fighters on PC, and since many fighting gamers use fight sticks, their skill transfers seamlessly. Unless you are an odd one to like shooters, not much appeal left in the hardware.

Re: Nintendo - Inclusion of Peach in Super Mario 3D World to Encourage More Players

Hong

Yeah... Peach does not really hit any notes with me. I know it is asking for a lot, but maybe she could be given more... functional attire. Maybe she can be given an outfit like Luigi and Mario, only pink instead of green/red, and she can be less like a trophy and more of a hero. Not a change to her "classic" look, but just for games like this.

Re: Tomodachi Collection: New Life Features Same-Sex Marriage For Men, But Not Women

Hong

@invmat

Actually, the historical hero Anri never had any children, yet Marth and his line are considered descendants. What is more is the series is full of characters being adopted or not having any parental links. They could still allow stats/skills to be inherited (parental tutelage) , and just give the child a default hair colour or something. Political correctness aside, i would have enjoyed same sex unity in FE:A just because I would have liked more options.
