I can vouch for this being real. I live not far from Southcenter and they had this event back in Winter 2010. I remember the sign said "Come chat with Mario!" and there were only two 30-minute sessions that day. Charles repeated my name and answered my silly question which was his relationship with Bowser (I didn't expect he'd know more than Nintendo does but he said while he wished Big Bad Bowser didn't always kidnap Peach, they still set aside their differences and had adventures together, referencing M&L:BIS).
My impression was that Charles was using Skype or some sort of remote chat application and the Mario avatar simply reacted to his voice. He probably had some buttons/keys he could press to make Mario jump while he shouted Wahoos. Nothing seemed staged as the technology already existed back then.
Edit: They didn't hand out any gifts back then, so if the "surprise presents" part seems staged to some of you, well I can entertain the idea that that's their new PR stunt. The Mario chat part was real though.
@nintendomasterr Because precisely like @ikki5 in the first post said, NOA wants to maintain its family-friendly image. I'm not saying I approve or disapprove of their ideology, but that's the way it is.
@MrRight You say that until your so-called "sickening" parents and activists start suing or raising issues to the FCC and the companies start getting warning letters about a heavy fine or have their products rated M instead of T (less customers). Now what? Sure I love an uncensored product, but if it's not going to be released due to regulations, I'd rather them censored — better than nothing.
@Mijzelffan I agree with you that there's no guaranteed one free play per day (as in: even if one sucks at practice). We're still in the honeymoon period, but Japan has already entered a number of no-promo droughts according to my Japanese friend.
@rjejr I skimmed through the wall of replies but if it's still not answered, I think the bunny's name is "Staff" as that's what it says on the nameplate if you go in the "post on Miiverse" section. The Japanese bunny is "Baito-kun" (stands for Arbeit or German for part-time) and his boss's name is "Tenchoo" (lit. storekeeper).
@NintenBo The title of your pic says "2016 ポケモン20周年" (2016: Pokemon 20th Anniversary), which merely suggests that they will be doing something to celebrate Pokemon's 20th birthday in 2016 (hence they left it blank). So it could be anything on the table — Gen 7, Pokemon Z, Pokemon Go, Pokepark, Pikachu swarming worldwide... it's up to anyone's prediction.
@Damo I'm not Tsuchinoko, but I think it's your tagline and how one interprets what "we" means. If you're including the readers, then there will be people who are offended. If it's just the NL staff, not at all, but perhaps no misunderstanding would arise if it said "If only the staff knew how to play" or something. I guess.
@Spectra_Twilight I agree. The water mirror may show the "truth", but it's not gonna be the "entire truth". Or maybe it's showing an ambiguous image taken by the prosecution side as proof of guilt, whereas Phoenix manages to pull out a contradiction from his ass in the Nick of time.
@chiefeagle02 The additional features are likely to refer to the ability to expand your upload capacity, just like Pokebank. I heard the Japanese version offers up to 100 upload allowances if you charge 100 yen for 1 mo or 500 yen for 6 mo (compared to 10 without this fee), and each file can be up to 20MB instead of 4MB. I guess it isn't about additional functions, just the available capacity.
@blackbox64 The Japanese believe that there are at least 3 people in this world that are your lookalikes albeit unrelated to you. This foreign Payne-lookalike must be one of them
@Cattymadness That most likely is NOT Maya. Let me translate what she says. In the first picture, "....Silence, you imbecile." In the second, "Your Honor, I do not see why not! Not bad as a form of entertainment." (most likely a reply to Phoenix's volunteering to be Bokuto's defense attorney as this country doesn't have one).
If you're telling me that Maya had been in this country for quite some time, gaining reputation as a haughty priestess and getting quite acquainted to the country's judge, I will not buy it. That ??? woman is a new character. In fact, that is not a magatama (Google it). A magatama looks like a "9", but this new country's gem has a soul design.
@Discipledoctor Don't leave me hanging. Do tell what exactly you don't like about AA5.
@RaymanFan2 Because GAA deals with Wright's and Payne's lineage and it's really hard to twist the explanation to make younger players believe that Phoenix's great grandpa is Japanese but himself is American in the localized version. Besides, some of the characters didn't know much English and were struggling in London. Will the localized characters speak English yet struggle with British English as well? Unless they change London to France and Sherlock Holmes is speaking in French instead? I know these are non-issues if it were a fansub, but we're talking about Capcom USA who would change miso ramen to burgers.
In AA6 Phoneix is only traveling to "China", no problem.
@BattleEnder This dub is actually pretty faithful to the original Japanese lyrics. They only took out the Udon reference (Instead of "Plodding, poky, sluggish...you're early", the original had different styles of udon which is a wordplay on Yadon), changed from Yakan (kettle) to sunstroke, modified a bit so the song rhymes, and that's it.
Why is Nintendolife reporting this? To spread awareness/interests? I've seen people ask similar questions but never seemed to get a response from Thomas or other staff. I would like to know myself.
@linforcer I'd like to know why you think it was awful. Aside from a handful of spelling and grammatical mistakes I think the overall delivery was amazing. That reference to Sharknado was just fin-tastic.
North America did have a premium online science learning program called Pokemon Learning League, but it sort of flopped and went offline in 2008. I can't speak for the UK, but we US people probably are not interested in Pokeducation as much as the Japanese do. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Learning_League
@Dolphin64 I sincerely hope you were just trolling, but alas you said that wasn't a joke. Cherries have their share of antioxidants and nutrients, true, but food therapy cannot replace necessary medical intervention. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
@Yosher When you say "weren't many fans" and "generally" you probably draw from personal experience, and that doesn't necessarily speak for the rest of us. Your question needs to be changed to "WHY did you decide to keep the car mechanism" (deleting the hated part) for neutrality, and hey, that exact question has been asked like you noticed.
>Why do you travel around in a car together?
>In past installments, everyone would move separately through the board. As a result, the actions of the other players often didn't affect you. In Mario Party 10, players move together in a car, so each player's action will affect the others meaning you'll need to keep an eye on the TV screen. This way, everyone's constantly involved, and we keep the flow of the game at a good pace. (<- the answer to your WHY right here)
@Artwark Dr_Lugae and retro_player_22 already explained it perfectly so I won't add on to that, but a future advice for you: NEVER ever ignore a lawsuit against you, no matter how ridiculous their claim seems. If you ignore it or don't show up in court, the judge will have no choice but to award the plaintiff, and whatever their demand takes effect. This is called default judgment.
@Chubblings Like the article mentioned, turn on your PSS and keep inviting leaders (delete them afterwards) as they will give you the number of flags that particular player has collected in the past day (up to 30), so if you're lucky enough you may reach 1000 with under 50 invites.
@Sforzando "Free" means they won't charge you money. It does not mean you can steal their copyright. It's like your comic website. It's free, but can I steal your comic and say I made it? Think not. "Stole from free emulators" is a valid statement.
I think the voting mechanics near the end of the AA trailer would have been perfect for the jurist (or juror for a better term) system. I'd expected that in AA:5 but somehow they still kept the initial trial system. Hope it'll happen in AA:6.
I take that back, tweets didn't load properly yesterday. There were about 80 valid entries, not counting late submissions since those probably won't count. Odds have dropped to 1 in 5 or 6.
@biglittlejake Your complaint can be easily fixed. Restart a new game and turn the EXP share OFF (yes you can do that in your bag). And try the Nuzlocke Challenge on X/Y.
@Xtremetdifan @WingedSnagret @JQuest
Fortunately those "impossible" Pokemon created by cheat devices in the DS games are blocked by the Poke Transporter, and Nintendo is actively blocking battles and trades with hacked Pokemon in their X/Y server, so things are clean as of now.
@BlackHearted1
You may be able to Poketransfer some hacked Pokemon to X/Y, but Nintendo is keen on blocking them from online trades and battles. Just last month they blocked illegally hacked Sheer Cold Suicune during a scheduled maintenance.
Just one bone to pick with this article: It's never "Pocket Monsters Akai", but "Pocket Monsters Aka". Aka is a noun while akai is an adjective in Japanese.
@TheOneHacker Not sure who "forced" you to download it nor why you would willingly allow to be forced, but here's my suggestion: get an AC buddy to play with, and visit the numerous AC trading boards out there. Visit someone's Nook's Homes and copy that. Have junk you don't want? Sell it on a trading board. See how these solve your problem? Try it
