Re: The Games Industry Reacts To The White House's Violent Games Showreel

Goddess_Nikke

The industry wants to sell their stuff so of course they will call it art or something.
I am not sure if there is a direct correlation between vg and violence, but one thing is certain if you are exposed to violent scenes, frequently and over a longer period of time your brain will adjust, I think its called desensitization.

Did some tests on myself the other way round. Played only family friendly nintendo games for some time. After that I had a hard time playing a violent game. Next step was to just watch anime (no tv, etc). Had a similar effect. Didnt like normal movies shows no more.

Has an ongoing effect on me - still dont play violent games and just watch anime. Believe it or not.

Recent example: bought devils third for my collection at a bargain - the violence didnt suit me - not sure if I am gonna continue playing

Ok! I cant help but notice some corporate identity here. No offense - thats fine with me - different opinions make the world less boring and more colorful.

In regard to buying download and supporting a company, I dont really know what to say. I like physical games - only buy digital when there is no physical and when there is a bargain on it. Physical games are day one mostly.

Supporting a company means identifying with it - yes, I do like many of their games and franchises but I dont like their attitude.
I do own DK for wii u same as mk8. I bought mk8dx but will not buy this one.

Same here! I dont really care about freebies, if I want to buy a game I buy it - definitely preferred club nintendo goodies.

A company certainly is required to give you anything for free - no such law. But as open-minded consumers we have the right to an opinion and know if somebody is taking us for a fool.

Luckily we dont need to participate in what I would was a bad joke.

Why am I not surprised. People may hate when I say its never been easy for me to be a nintendo fan. I do like most of their games but I dont like their way of treating their fans. They are known to be arrogant and I am afraid the recent switch success might not change that attitude.

Just btw, its perfectly understandable you get more points for going digital as its much more expensive than physical - at least I get much better prices from online retailers

To each their own! Doesnt make an impression on me, though. I collect physical games as well, in the sense that I only sell them if I hate them. A collection imo should be an expression of what you like in gaming. Buying every game is just an compulsive act. My switch collection is still below 10 games. Thats because I only buy games that I want to play. Tbt, beem playing much less in recent years and my backlog has been growing - still buy games just in case.

Funny - why would anyone want to pre-order on those conditions?

I generally tend to buy physical-only games (if possible) and tend to pre-order. I dont have to pay money in advance to my online retailer and have cancelled preorders a couple of times already once the metacritic score was revealed (smash tennis for example). The fact that physical games are cheaper is mind-bogling on its own.
