I don't believe it's a con that it's too simplistic for these days because people are craving polished ps2 era/style gameplay right now. However, they priced this about $10 too high for what it is and alienated their fanbase with changes that weren't necessary(when your demographic is ages 13 - 50 at that). There was a lot of hype for this but Farming Simulator 25 is outselling it on Steam right now.
This was an excellent mobile game and it never felt like you were being ripped off. The biggest issue is that they never expanded on the exploration maps and gave you more things to do with the characters. It was basically an action combat version of Granblue Fantasy but I never understood why it wasn't ported to Switch.. I'm not holding out hope they make an offline version after Square just let Mobius die though.
This is why they made it super easy to remove the back and replace the thumb sticks. Battery glue looks like it's gonna require a professional repair outlet to avoid a lithium fire or screen crack though..
I'm sorry but a remaster needs a widescreen fix and higher resolution textures/models. This looks like it's a modified version of the original running in some sort of emulation engine with a little ai upscaling. You may as well just play the original on Duckstation for similar results.
Kemco is like a generic RPG production factory. They need to stop releasing 3-5 games a year and take the time to make 1 higher quality game. Then and only then am I paying for a physical.
Wow.. I'd rather they of just continued saying they can't port it. The Switch has a giant demand for physical offline copies with no download and this would of sold like hotcakes in the current market. The internet infrastructure in the USA is just not ready for this streaming BS.
Squeenix seems really confused as to what kind of audience Switch has and what their customers want. We get things like a low budget Crystal Chronicles port with no Local Story Coop, no Legend of Mana Physical in the west and FFX/X-2 Remaster requiring download for X-2 in the west. Now we get a cloud version of this that no one asked for?
I would love a new quality Metroidvania but we keep seeing these empty pixel art clones that feel lazy instead of unique. We need more hand painted, vector graphic, or 2.5d cell shaded with a proper storyline.
At this point I'm wondering if themes were tested and and failed from too much ram usage or menu switching issues. They could easily make money from first/third party themes and people have been asking for years to no avail. There is no excuse to not add proper game library organization features though.
Finally crafting layered armor! This being missing day one has been my largest complaint. Rampage mode is pretty meh as a secondary. I wish it was designed more as a Musou experience defending the village outskirts and up to the gate vs tower defense.
I like the idea of these games but what I've always hated is the outdated daily stamina systems and when they add events that can be missed if you don't do them at certain times/seasons. Hoping Rune Factory 5 at least avoids the stamina issue.
All of these need to be set to one per customer, per address. Companies are not doing enough to prevent scalping because they make money from it and don't care. It's almost to the point I'd say we need a temporary law that says you cannot sell a product for more than 10% of it's MSRP if the product is new to market(within 1 year.)
This wouldn't fix the situation with everything but opening it up to older products would would cause too many issues.
In digital titles you lose some ownership unless you can back it up like a GoG copy. Switch cloud games have 0 ownership. Once the server goes down then your money and investment go poof with it. This is just a very expensive rental system that I hope crashes and burns.
I played Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3 plenty back in the SNES and Genesis days but after seeing Mortal Kombat 11 videos I was pretty disturbed. We have have some backwards thinking in the USA when this is okay but even a modest bikini that a woman would wear at a beach makes them slap a partial nudity warning on it.
The only problem I see with these swimsuits is they are too immersion breaking.
I'm glad they decided to port it. When the original remaster was announced I was confused why Switch wasn't mentioned after barely anything was changed quality wise. Hopefully under THQ Nordic they can turn it into a proper franchise it deserves.
As soon as this person said it's using the Mariko SoC(already in the 2019 model) and acted like it was new was when this became obvious BS. Also OLED is still too expensive and Nintendo wants to keep the costs down to maintain a profit. The most logical theory is that they will use the Nvidia budget Xavier SoC released in 2020 called the NX(15 watt). It has the Tensor AI core allowing it to use DLSS(From the job posting a while back we learned Nintendo is messing with DLSS.)
They probably will only add 1gb of ram to help with the increased demands while keeping costs down. 720p in handheld mode and NOT 1080p, but there were some meetings with Sharp on the LCD's so the colors might look better or the screen size slightly different. It may have a larger screen to body ratio.
Keep in mind this SoC is only around 400 gflops increase in power from the Mariko but that does allow them to turn on more bells and whistles like draw distance, shadows, post processing, etc while in 720p(Basically allowing Witcher 3 to look like it does in docked mode.) Battery life would increase by 1-2 hours from the 12nm manufacturing process and they won't have to replace the battery model at all. They might even reduce the battery MaH by 1000 to cut costs more and still have around the same life as the 2019 model.
Then for Docked mode you would have 1080p and not have to butcher the games with messy dynamic resolution scaling. You would set a resolution internally and use DLSS upscaling to always hit 1080p while turning up the visual effects as much as possible(Witcher 3 could do this in a patch and look close to the PC version in docked mode.)
Finally they call it something silly like "The New Nintendo Switch" and sell it for $349/£329 while lowering the price of any remaining original to $279/£249 and phase it out.

That would of been an awesome April fool's announcement.

Re: Review: TY the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue HD - An Enjoyably Old-School Aussie Romp
Forget Ty. I'd rather these devs port Blade Kitten to Switch with a new episode. That I would pay $40 for a physical copy.
