@cylemmulo “brutally difficult 2 seconds in” is another accurate retro feeling of old school games. When a game only had an hour or so of content then it needed to kick your butt right out of the gate.
The fact that the physical copy of this is a game key card should now and forever going forward be a negative part of the overall score. It’s a back door attempt to eventually kill physical media and anybody who claims to be a fan of videogame history and preservation should not support this with their money.
@sonicbooming it’s weird to me that every single comment in this thread doesn’t include a mention of Silksong. To me it way more exciting than even Tears of the Kingdom. Fingers crossed but I’m not holding my breath.
Not one comment for Curse of the Sea Rats!! Unbelievable! This looks like a cross between Bloodstained and Hollow Knight. I love it. Metroidvanias are awesome.
My favorite part was when they, once again, failed to mention anything about Silksong and my heart died just a little. Boy do I just love to wait for games!
I'm continuously surprised that these comments don't constantly talk about Silksong. That game is, by leaps and bounds, the most exciting thing that could be announced today IMO. Please, if there is anybody here who hasn't yet played Hollow Knight then get off the internet and download that game!
An option to get rid of instant replays would be nice as well. I like the game but I’m pissed I paid 60 bucks for it. Hollow Knight was a far better value at 15. Different game of course but....I digress...
@zool Most of my time was spent in the coliseum playing the trial of the conqourer over and over again for Geo. Just love the challenge there. Also, I had to get all the endings for the game and all 107% completion. So yeah, I took my time.
@zool my first play through took me nearly 80 hours. My second play through took another 36. This game has ridiculous content and ridiculous replayability. Also, hand drawn graphics aren’t “retro”. Even pixel art isn’t necessarily “retro” it’s a design choice. Sometimes you want a photograph on your wall and other times you want a painting. Just cause the photograph looks more realistic doesn’t make the painting inferior right?
@RadioHedgeFund genuine reply! Yes! I’ve bought the PC version of his game and the Switch digital version. I’ve beaten both of them 107%. I’ll gladly buy the physical copy even if it’s double the price. That’s 15 for PC, 15 for the digital Switch and then 30 (if it is double) for the physical. That still only adds up to 60 dollars, the same price I paid for that turd of a game MARIO Tennis Aces! I’m willing to pay that to support the developers of Hollow Knight and encourage them to continue making more great games. Hollow Knight is a classic. It will be on every list that includes “Symphony of the night” and “Super Metroid”. Buying this game isn’t just an investment in the game. It’s an investment in the future of awesome 2d gaming. I hope that answers your question. Enjoy playing!
Nintendo is due for another direct here soon. The Bayonetta, Kirby, and Pokemon franchises just don't really do it for me. Donkey Kong will be great and Dark Souls will of course be a day one purchase for me but personally I can't wait for Hollow Knight to finally drop on the eShop. One of the best 2d metroidvanias I've ever played and its soon to be portable. My productivity is going to take a big hit and I couldn't be happier about it.
I thought as soon as I mentioned it everyone would lose their collective minds. “Oh yeah! Hollow Knight! How could I have forgotten about the PC Goty (IMHO) coming to Switch?” Get excited folks. It’ll be here soon, I can feel it. I think. Maybe that’s gas?
Has everyone already forgotten about Hollow Knight!? It’s supposed to be a Q1 release so it should be right around the corner. Honestly, it’s the game I’m most excited for out of all of these. I’ll still be getting Kirby and Dark Souls but...guys... Hollow Knight, check it out, you’ll thank me later.
Played several hours of this game on my PC and then stopped so I could wait for the Switch version. This is easily my GOTY. I could not be more excited for this to come to the switch. First day buy and I recommend everyone else do the same. You will not regret it.
Had to walk away from the original because the fighting system felt way too chaotic. Like I wasn't really doing anything. Hope this changes in the sequel. I really want to love this game.
I could not disagree with this article more. Rather than Splatoon 2 showing off its local multiplayer it instead shows off its biggest flaw. If there is no multiplayer on the same console then Nintendo should be shamed not congratulated. Requiring the investment of over 700 dollars (2 switch's and 2 games) to play a game with a friend on the couch is ridiculous. This is a Nintendo fail if I've ever seen one. The fact that this game received a score of 10 from Nintendo life with these glaring flaws seems crazy in my opinion. It's a great game yes, but FULL of ridiculous decisions that run counter to playing with friends.

@The_Nintendo_Pedant you’re not confused. He is confused. Hollow Knight has never been more than 15 bucks since its launch day.

Game key Card. This looks amazing but I’ll wait.

@Mattock1987 that’s exactly the attitude that got these fans angry in the first place.

P4G is tempting but Fire Emblem lost me during three houses. Everything that happened in the monastery was so boring.

@BananaMetallurgica Absolutely! I’ve never heard so many accolades for a game that is so unbelievably slow and boring to play.
