Holy crap man, that is freaking awesome. That's super cool of Capcom, it's good to see they appreciate those of us who love old-school games, instead of those young whipper-snappers!
Actually, tbh I wish they'd release this game as retail ONLY. Considering the lack of storage space on the wii, a retail version of the game would save me from having to delete MORE games. Also, I wouldn't put the price tag past $30 for a retail version of the game. It would probably even be lower.
It definitely looks interesting. It's before my time (I'm only 19, I was born in the late 80s! ) but I'd love to give it a try! From watching the video, the puzzles seem very unique. They aren't complex, unrealistic puzzles, from what I saw. It honestly seems like this game does a lot of things that I've never seen in a game before (things I wouldn't think to DO in a game, like waiting for a stoplight to turn green before crossing a street, waiting for a boat to come by instead of just jumping straight into the water)
C64 support for the US would be awesome, I've never played any C64 games in my life
Great review, Corbie! The price is definitely right, but at the high block size (290?!?) I can't really bring myself to delete Toki Tori or My Life as a King for it.. My fear about this game was always that the gameplay would get repetitive
Wow, a great week for Japan! SMRPG, PS4 (I really want that game! I've heard it's the best of the series), and Ninja Commando looks awesome ("C button does NINJA TRICKS" ), and they ALSO got 3 wiiware games?
Sounds interesting, I imagine it would be in the point-and-click adventure style, at least I hope (it's one of my favorite genres, which hasn't gotten enough attention in recent years!) Either way it sounds like a great story, and the artwork will of course be amazing.
Um....... What do you do? (The description is sort of vague.....) I guess I'll go wikipedia it real quick. That wiki entry was also somewhat vague....
So, back to my original question: What do you do? What's so exciting about it? What warrants the $15 price tag (and presumably high number of blocks required)?
Yeah, you can equip different weapons (they all look uniquely different in battle when you equip them), armor, and accessories. The weapons and armor usually only affect your attack and defense, but some armors will raise your attack/magic attack in addition.
How do you mean "do anything"? The different accessories prevent certain types of status effects, they raise different stats, things like that. Aside from that, stat raising is about the only thing I can remember from the game's equipment. There is one thing you get from the hidden boss of the game (Culex), the quartz amulet, that halves damage taken by one character and increases all the damage they give. There are a few interesting items like that in the game.
At any rate, it's a great game! And to add to previous discussion, I never could get into earthbound. I just didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing. Maybe if I try playing it again now I'll be able to get into it..? I was a little bit younger when it first came out
I have never had enough spare room on my wii to download the nintendo channel. Maybe if we had some sort of storage solution..... OH WAIT I can easily move all of my wiiware/VC games to my SD card!! ...... >: (
I wish I had a storage solution... Maybe I'll delete Defend your Castle or something... Or wait until monday and see what there is to download then? I don't know, I feel so limited...
If you don't like it don't buy it. everyone else loves the game. I've played through it over the past what, 9 years, at least 20 times, and it's enjoyable every time. I personally love the story. I didn't like any of the paper mario games as much as smrpg. It's personal preference, so stop trying to convince people that this game sucks.
And, I've been playing FF games for that amount of time too. FFII and III on snes are among my favorite games as well. And I also enjoy not only the retro FFs, but the recent ones as well (VII thru X). So.... Like I was saying, it's all just personal preference.
I imagine the "typewriter" is like eating corn-on-the-cob, you hold the wiimote in front of your face and move it slowly from left to right, or vice versa.
Very good interview, he seems like a cool guy. After paying 1000+ pts for most of the wiiware games I've bought, I forgot Eternity's Child is only going to be 500 points! Thats amazing, I definitely can't wait for this one.
Hahaha... It actually looks like a game I'd really enjoy. I love quirky japanese platformers (DoReMi Fantasy ). I'll definitely pick it up if I ever have an odd number of points left over
I'd kind of written this game off before, but this interview makes it sound kind of interesting! I wouldn't delete anything to make space for it (Im recently addicted to Pokemon Puzzle League, Dr. Mario, Toki Tori!) so I'd only get it if we see some kind of storage solution by june...
lol I wouldn't want the game, but the keychain sounds awesome!
EDIT: Ok. That was the best trailer ever! I just watched it, and the game looks amazing hahaha! I would definitely buy it if it were released outside of japan
Well I love puzzle games, so I'll definitely pick this up once I clean up my wii storage a bit.. I find I've been deleting quite a few games as of late. The only thing really keeping from this game now is the large block size.. And the fact that I've been spending too much money on wii points the past few weeks!! 8P
I've played alllllllll the final fantasy games, and they are definitely my favorite series. But I still love SMRPG. It's one of my all-time favorite games (alongside FF4, btw)
Wooo!! Super Mario RPG is one of my favorite games of all time, and my SNES cart is starting to go bad (the files randomly erase). So this is exciting! Also, I always wanted to play phantasy star IV, but never got around to it. So, hopefully we'll see both of these stateside soon!
Wow! The first good week for the US VC in a while! If they weren't making me choose between the space for Metal Slug and Dr. Mario, I'd definitely pick up both! I've already deleted all the games I can, I hate parting with my games!
What do you do once you've beaten the game though..? It seems like something you could complete in maybe 6-7 hrs of play (if you got really into it), then never touch again.. Are the puzzles on each stage really that different? It seems like after 10 or so stages you'd get the hang of it and the stages would become dull.
Ok, another problem I foresee is that once we get the memory issue dealt with, people will run out of spaces to PUT their channels! There are what, only 48 spaces right? With my wii memory completely full, I have only about 18 or 19 empty spaces to put VC/wiiware/channels.
Buuuuut if this does become a problem, Nintendo could easily just release a wii update and expand it, right?
All I want is Secret of Mana 2, or hell even just Secret of Mana. I still have the original cart for Secret of Mana, but it just doesn't work like it used to! The memory clears pretty much every time you take it out of the SNES
Man... I want to get all of these games. Star soldier, dr. mario, gyrostarr, lost winds.. But I just don't have the room on my wii with all of my vc games
Awesome game! Definitely worth the 5 bucks. It's so addicting. Although, it sucks that it was released the night before my last two finals! I'd take a "10 minute study break" and end up wasting an hour on the game! I'm on level 35 now and I'm more interested to continue playing now that I know there are bonuses and easter eggs for getting higher up!

I'm sure Laurent Fischer has something to do with this! Wiiware's only for geeks and otaku!
Re: Review: Gyrostarr
The SSR tourney ends tonight?? Crap, I think I'm sitting at like 11th in the tourney....
Re: Most Popular WiiWare Games in North America (25th June)
Toki Tori........ That is one of the best made wiiware games thus far! But, my guess is that no one's heard of it, so they won't download it

I bought Secret of Evermore on ebay for like $10 a few months ago..... But at any rate, I like Secret of Mana better.
Great interview as always, Corbie! Sounds like a cool guy

Re: EU VC Releases - 20th June - Epic Fail
Wow, no VC and two crappy wiiware games? That sucks, guys...
Re: Most Popular WiiWare Games in North America (18th June)
Wow.... Pokemon Ranch at no. 1? Ridiculous.... Also, how are the two piss-poor shovelware titles that got released monday ABOVE Star Soldier R?

Lostwinds... 7? Toki Tori... 8?? My Pokemon Ranch... 3!?!?!
WTH.

Good interview! This game sounds pretty interesting, with the building/painting aspect. Plus, I'm sure my two sisters will love it (The Sims. )

Geez the guy on the video is freaking insane!
Love this game btw, one of the best puzzle games ever
Re: 100 WiiWare Games Currently In Development
The reply to the storage issue was obnoxious. Maybe all of us hardcore VC/wiiware fans should boycott for a month or so! (..nah we couldn't do that )
