Been playing intelligent systems games for a month, just finished fire emblem echoes and started a paper Mario 64 run with intent to play three houses soon!
I only got a 3DS a few weeks ago... I'm not ready to say goodbye
Sigh... Suppose PS3'll shut theirs next. Then Xbox 360. Eventually even the Switch Eshop'll go dark for good. It's tragic. Digital is so convenient but also so horrible for preserving console games without the handful of brave people risking legal action to keep those games available via emulation and piracy.
A second hand 3DS XL I bought earlier this month... Immidiately fell in love with it. I deeply regret not picking it up at launch. Only games I've played on it are Fire Emblem Fates and Awakening.
I'm honestly super unsure. If it has weapon durability then I probably won't be getting it. A big part of open world RPG's for me is hunting down unique and cool weapons. If those weapons just break eventually then they wind up like all those fortify conjuration potions I have in Skyrim. Needless bag space occupiers. In BotW I just avoided every enemy I saw so as not to waste my weapons on something I didn't need to fight and it made the game really unenjoyable for me. I never finished it two divine beasts in.
If weapon durability is gone though then it's more or less an instant buy.
Backwards compatibility is a must for me. I only just started building my switch library. And it's a good one! I'm in no rush to go buy the brand new thing when Switch runs all my favourite games if that can't.
I bought all the fire emblem stuff but I'm not sure I'm willing to risk on anything else given it'll be undownloadable eventually and my memory card is already full...
I only just rediscovered my love of nintendo, sadly my 3DS arrived just a few days too late. Thank god I found a code on Ebay. Hoping I can buy the third campaign for fates still.
I'm saving all my switch games for my vacation in a few months but I plan to play Paper Mario for the first time in over a decade and it'll likely wind up being my main game if the internet checks aren't too abrasive. So I guess N64!
I only picked up the game recently. So far I've freed one divine beast, claimed the master sword and gotten most of Link's memories back and honestly I hope it's completely scrapped. Weapons just don't feel that rewarding to stumble across and they break so easily that you're better off avoiding fights entirely, particularly thanks to the hidden 'exp' system that makes the world get harder the more enemies you kill. You can launch the game through one of the starter guide articles in the breath of the wild channel for a free Gerudo Scimitar every time if you ever get stuck and run out of weapons. A bit tedious but it saves you scavenging.
I think it's okay to have breakable weapons if there are unbreakable ones out there. I can see the value in scooping up some mob's club and flinging it at him to break it but I'd really like to stumble across a new, unbreakable, lore and story sword and not see it as basically a glorified potion. Make them hard to get if you have to just please let the option be there.
I remember getting a bow that belonged to some hero or another and then I lost it in a burst of flames while flying over a volcano for a few seconds. It was an exercise in disappointment.
I've actually been avoiding side quests and exploration because it seems like most of the possible rewards are just consumables I'll never use or that'll have minimal impact, be they weapons, food or potions. I value my bombs, upgrades and armor far more.

The horror that is the multi-million worth company having games they refuse to sell potentially pirated. What a dark age this is!

Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top Ten In Metacritic's 13th Annual Game Publisher Rankings
Still baffles me how people can keep on playing Sony's endless stream of Last of Us clones.
