It's almost February and you know what that means, right? New games are arriving on the Nintendo Switch – yay! While it's not the biggest month in terms of releases, the second month of the year still has plenty to offer.
The first half of February sees the release of Cindered Shadows Story Expansion for Fire Emblem: Three Houses and games like Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl - GOLD. Later in the month sees the release of a number of titles worthy of your attention. There's the special edition of Devil May Cry 3, Samurai Shodown, the Mega Man ZX/Legacy Collection, Rune Factory 4 Special and even the recently confirmed title, Metro Redux.
Here's the full list of games coming to the Switch next month. To see each one in action, check out Zion's latest video above:
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics - February 4
Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Cindered Shadows DLC - Feb 12 (US) Feb 13 (UK)

Darksiders Genesis and metro look pretty interesting, I may pick those up on a slaw down the road.
Interested in Two Point Hospital
Guess I'll have to buy FE3H Expansion Pass....
Very excited for Megaman Zero / ZX collection, but I should probably beat the MM and MMX Legacy collections first....
Snack World is the only game here that I'm definitely getting. Maaaaybe Metro Redux but not sure on it yet and don't really care about the rest of these. I love Rune Factory 4 but I don't have the time to play it again from scratch so I'll just patiently wait for Rune Factory 5 instead.
Dammit. Why can't I be narrow minded, difficult and like only 1 type of game.
“New” to switch...
Already got the Japanese version of Snack world. Besides, they changed to costumes of the princess and those purple genies.
Moste interesting in LoveR Kiss.
I think also the Hatsune Miku game is out in February but might have been March. I'm getting that one too.
And I think the Asian release of the Danmachi game might be shipping in February, I got that one preordered.
Definitely importing Persona 5 Scramble this month as well
I might actually get DMC3 on Switch despite having the entire HD Collection on PC because of style-switching plus it's my favorite game of all time
I’m just waiting for Animal Crossing 🤪
"11 Games, mostly ports, and an expansion pass"
Are Darksiders and Dark Crystal the only 2 "new" games? I feel like the rest have already released on PS4 awhile back. Though I suppose Dungeon Defenders Awakened could be a new spin-off like Darksiders. I'm gonna go look that one up. (Edit: OK, I guess that's new too.)
"Exciting" would have worked better if Dante had been in Smash rather than Byleth. Now DmC3 is just a reminder of what might have been. I guess if we compare it to what 3DS is currently getting and what Wii U used to get it is pretty exciting for February. I paid for the beta for Dreams, which releases in full Feb 14th, so that's probably it for me this month.
Congrats to all the people waiting a decade for a new Animal Crossing game and thankful even in Leap Year Feb is only 29 days.
@rjejr In fairness, February is typically a slow release month for all platforms. And that MMZ/ZX Collection is more than just a port, anyway.
Hm... 🤔
I have planned to buy FF VIII Switch in physical tomorrow. And i have planned to add PSP game (Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX) and Wii game (Fast Food Panic) at the end of January 2020.
Oh, maybe i can add more with Ratchet & Clank PS4 on February 2020.
I'm not worried at all with February 2020 Switch release.
I still have a time to consider other games.
@rjejr Samurai Shodown is new as well.
Oh, Samurai Shodown and Two Point Hospital both come out on the same day. They are the only two games I'm thinking of picking up in February. At least so far.
Welp nothing for me this month. Looks like I'm playing my wii again. Also my backlog is big enough!
“Exciting”
Maybe Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, as that's the only thing that interests me from this list.
@rjejr sounds to me like your just butt hurt because your not getting what you want.
Wow, it's a great month! Way better than January (and March imo, as I don't like AC).
-The Dark Crystal (it looks great, a FF Tactics kind of game)
-The Snack World (looks amazing! Those Fantasy Life vibes...)
-Fire Emblem's DLC (FE:TH is glorious)
-Metro Redux (more great FPS on Switch, guys!)
-Darksiders Genesis (it looks perfect for a coop adventure)
-DMC3 (it's the definitive edition of the best DMC game)
-Samurai Shadown (it's said to be an awesome fighting game, I like the originals)
I plan to get all those at some point. And people is saying it's a bad month?
Overall a pretty strong month regardless of what your favorite genre migt be.
12 games. In February. Still people complaining. Wow.
Metro-Metro-Metro. I'm a Russian and live in Moscow, so the setting is really appealing. Played Last Light on the PS3, the Redux collection on the PS4 (as Metro 2033 was only released on Xbox 360, which I did not own), but will gladly replay both. The said setting is kinda strange, though - the game looks more like Moscow and the Moscow metro from 80-s/early 90-s rather then the present day city and the subway.
Sigh. I think I am going to buy a horse and learn how to rob amazon trucks. Too many games that I want and I need to stop buying so many.
Not ready for more FE just yet. Everything else is Meh or old (2 point Hospital and Metro, really? 🤦♂️)
Been watching Fairy Tail Anime on my commute after finishing LM3 (Game out on Switch March 22)... I'll stick with that on the GO.
There is no "new exciting game" on Switch any time soon.
Not that anyone cares but me, but the physical edition of AO Tennis 2 in the US releases in mid-February. And the first week of February in the UK.
It's actually a solid tennis game, with great improvements over the first one (released on steam a couple weeks ago).
@baller98
I still haven't heard the progress about Summer in Mara recently.
I hope the game will eventually get released on PS4 & Switch as their agenda last time.
Nothing for me, but I still have plenty of games to keep me occupied. I double-dipped on TMS#FE and thus I'm replaying that on the side, plus finishing up LM3.
I might start my Claire run on RE2R, so I can finish that before RE3R drops. I also finally got the Ace Combat 7 Season-Pass recently during sale, so I might replay the campaign ... for the 4th time
I still hope to find it in me to take another crack at FE:Three Houses as well. Not sure I can overcome my deep disappointment in the game though... we'll see how that goes. I do want to see if it plays any better on Madness, but I'm too deep into my current run ...
Dozens of other games waiting in the wings as well.
I'd like to get the Snack World, but I have so many games I'm trying to finish right now lol
Snack World is a must buy for me. Been waiting oh so patiently for that one. I'll get the FE expansion when I have a lull in my gaming schedule
Another month with nothing interesting is always good for my wallet
@Mgene15 Yes, that's what this news and page is about. You got lost on your way through the World Wide Web?
@tobibra wait, what? How are they changed?
@Dakotastomp According to censored gaming, the princess and the genie will be more covered up in the English version. In the Japanese version, the princess's top is supershort and kinda looks like a bikini. In the English version it's more a normal top. And the genies are also more covered up compared to the Japanese.
Also, unless they intend to bring over those small toy weapon things, I'm unsure if they would keep the NFC functions. (I could be stupid here, as I have never watched any English trailer for the game since I allready imported it.)
Two point hospital - never played it myself but my wife has been asking me about Theme Hospital for years so for high hopes for this...
Great month for me. Darksiders, Metro, SamSho, FE DLC, DMC3, MM Collection and Snack World all look worth buying on Switch. Don't care if some of these games are on other platforms either.
Don’t sleep on Snack World!
I definitely want to get The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, just have to decide between the Switch and PC versions.
The only games I’m looking forward to in this list are MegaMan Zero Legacy Collection and Metro Redux. I’d say either Nintendo is blowing it again with slow first 1/3 of the New Year or we really need a Nintendo Direct.
(And FE 3H expansion, but I’ve already purchased the EP, and I haven’t even played that much of the main game yet, b/c there were so many games released in the second half of 2019).
Maybe DMC3 & Rune Factory 4 Special, but not anytime soon.
I should be getting New Super Lucky's Tale in today, and once I complete that I know I want to get Daemon X Machina & Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, so I know I won't be hurting for games anytime soon.
Mega Man Zero/ZX is the only one on this list I'm excited for and I'll be getting that day 1.
Maybe it's time I get around to playing TwoPoint Hospital. Maybe they'll eventually get to TwoPoint Elementary School, the game I've been wanting to play for over twenty years.
the Switch is not region locked so you could buy Persona 5 Scramble from Japan, yes it won't have any English subtitles but you can still buy it and play it
@BlueBlur101 better that than waiting an extra 7 to 8 months for the English release
Just Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection and the Fire Emblem DLC. First half of 2020 is looking very much like backlog season.
Here we are! 1 month ago was Christmas 2019! Already a lot of games in the 1st 2 months. If I pick up anything, it will be Super Mario Odyssey, & maybe the Namco Museum, although it's missing Rolling Thunder 3, unless the game has unlockables, and that is one of them.
I've got enough for right now, with Super Mario Maker 2, & Smash Ultimate. I'm blessed, even in small things, like video games.
Bought Samurai Showdown already in the japanese eShop and played the hell out of it. I'm just waiting for Under Night In-birth in the upcoming month. It's great to see some fighting games on Switch. A newer Street Fighter or Guilty Gear would be nice this year.
@JasmineDragon That's also a port
It's been out on PS4 and Xbox One for several months now
Crap. Expensive month for me. DMC 3, Darksiders, Metro, SamSho, and Two Point are all for sures.
@Dr_Corndog Yeah, Feb isn't a month to expect much, so I wouldn't expect a title promoting "12 exciting new games", but that's the title I got, and it seemed off enough to get my attention.
I do stand corrected though, "5 new games, 6 ports, and a DLC", is probably more accurate than my original assessment of the situation.
@JasmineDragon Really? Judging by that photo I assumed it was 1 of those Sega Ages classics port. Thanks.
@Dirty0814 Yes my butt hurts, you should kiss it and make it better.
You used "your" wrong not once, but twice, in 1 sentence.
@electrolite77 There would probably be less complaining if there were new 12 games, but it's only 11 and DLC, and let's face it it's February so it's not very exciting, so I think a lot of the complaining is a reaction to the title. If the title simply stated "February Releases on Switch" maybe there would be less complaining?
Or it could just be me, I seem to bring out the worst in people. 😁
No thanks you can just go to your room in the basement and ask your mom to make you some hot cocoa and bring you your coloring books.
I'm really happy with how the library of fighting games is shaping up! If SFV:CE is coming out as the rumour suggests, then all I would need is a port of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Nothing this month. Can we please get a direct at least?
Darksiders Genesis in February! That's a surprise. I thought it was mid April or so. I hope it's as good as it looks.
@personauser93 Exactly. There's nothing for me here. As has been the case most of the Switch's existence. But right now that's okay because I don't have money and Animal Crossing New Horizons is coming soon.
All I want is Cindered Shadows Story Expansion for Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix is due out on 2/13.
in Japan. I already ordered a copy via PlayAsia.
Fire Emblem dlc will be a nice addition for February.
Got samsho and rune factory preordered. Will buy snack world, under night, dmc3, darksiders and dark crystal this year. Will likely get the FE dlc next month or march. Strong month for me.
@BlueBlur101Yeah, you're right. I didn't know it released last June on the other consoles. I thought it was just a couple of months ago, when it came out on Switch in Japan.
Still a new game by my standards, though.
Three Houses DLC and Byleth in Smash!!
And Under Night also.
@tobibra Would you recommend I import it and does it have English subtitles support.
"12 Exciting New Games"
Lists a DLC ¯ಠಠ_/¯
@Anti-Matter That PS4 Ratchet & Clank game is great. Enjoy.
@Dakotastomp I don't think it has english text. So I can't recomend importing unless you are ok playing in Japanese
@rjejr
Maybe that’s it. But some people are excited. I guess it’s perspective. Maybe my age. A system getting anything in February is a result (especially a Feb that has a huge AAA first-party release in March).
@LordVal How is SamSho mate?
No doubt that there's good games here but nothing really interests me personally aside from possibly the Megaman collection.
@peanutbuttercup have you seen much of that snack world game? I’m wondering if it’s any good...
@rjejr The only way there'd be less complaining is if Nintendo announced a general Direct. Honestly I think Nintendo's being cautious not to be overshadowed by the PS5 reveal.
@electrolite77 "I guess it’s perspective."
Well my perspective sux, all the NL regulars know that.
I read that title 12 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In February, I get excited, then my brain goes into "bait and switch" defensive mode over the title b/c I was excited then I wasn't. I probably should have skipped the comment on this one.
@Grumblevolcano "I think Nintendo's being cautious not to be overshadowed by the PS5 reveal."
That idea popped into my head last night during a Direct discussion on twitter, where I now waste even more time than I do on here. With a PS5 reveal reasonably expected sometime in Feb it is possible Nintendo is waiting until after that to show a Direct. And knowing Sony it's also possible they're waiting until after the Direct to reveal the PS5. OK, just kidding about that last part, Sony wouldn't really wait, but I'm sure they know all about the Directs considering they're very similar State of Play vids.
I'm not as hung up on the Directs as I used to be, so I don't really care when they show it, I'm more interested in the content. The Sony State of Plays have been lackluster at best. I do think they'll be good though once the PS5 is announced and they can show off some of those games, rather than the same games they've been showing off for 3 years like TLoU2 and Ghosts, and Nintendo needs to do the same in a Direct. We need a Direct w/ more than just Animal Crossing and Overcooked 2 DLC. Even that infographic the other day left me unimpressed. Sure, it was filled w/ some good games, but nothing jaw-dropping like BotW 2 or even Odyessey 2 would be. And surely we'll get at least 1 jaw-dropping game for the holidays. And 1 big port, Skyward Sword or Sunshine.
When Nintneods is ready to date the big guns, that's when they should drop the Direct. Who knows, they may even be thinking of waiting until after Animal Crossing to focus on that. I think you'd agree w/ me that AC is likely to get it's own Direct in Feb. I don't even care about that game but I'm excited for all the people who do, who haven't' had a new home game since the Wii. Still have my WiiSpeak on top of the TV. (I got mine w/ Endless Ocean: Blue World but it was invented for AC.)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Speak
Metro Redux, the Fire Emblem expansion, Rune Factory 4, and Darksider Genesis are the only four I look forward to this coming month.
@LordVal I still wish more 3D fighters come to Switch too, there's just way too many 2D ones. More games like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Dead or Alive 6, or even an old port of Virtua Fighter 5 would be nice.
@GrailUK absolutely ok. We played it two weeks straight every day, but after the Skull Girls 2 bargain, we concentrated on this one more.
@retro_player_22 I'm more for the 2D Fighters.
@NinChocolate there's quite a bit of gameplay on YouTube of the Japanese release
Btw when I use quite, I mean a fair amount. I understand there's a difference in meaning between NA English and British English
@electrolite77 I am genuinely excited for the MMZ/ZX Legacy Collection. Some of the very best action games ever made, enhanced for the Switch. Say what you will about the other releases this month, but this one is killer.
Dark crystal is all I am waiting for. Waited almost a life time for the series, then a game surprise was dropped on us. Can’t wait!

If DMC3 SE comes as physical I will buy it, otherwise not interested in any of the games in this, which is quite good as it gives me time to play through the backlog
I think I'll just keep chipping away at DQXI until Animal Crossing arrives.
The Dark Crystal cause I love a meaty T/SRPG and DMC 3 cause...well it's DMC 3 and I need more DMC.
@LordVal Though I like 2D fighters, seeing and playing the fight perspective one sided gets old too fast (to me). 3D fighters like Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter had you fight throughout the environment/arena and offer true freedom of movement allowing you to experience fights from different perspectives which add dephs, realism, and freshness to a match unlike 2D games. I agree that 2D fighting games are more lively, flashy, and colorful but 3D fighting games does give gamer a different taste away from the one-sided 2D gameplay.
