Fire Flower

Koei Tecmo is a name that may be a little more familiar to Nintendo fans in recent years, as it’s pushed out both Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors, crossovers between Nintendo’s popular franchises and the company’s Musou games. While there’s no news on what else the companies are collaborating on, if anything, the president of Koei Tecmo recently stated in an interview the franchise that he’d like to get his hands on next.

Speaking with Kotaku, Hisashi Koinuma said that he’d like to take on the Mario series, and it seems like he’d be game for making just about anything featuring the plumber. Here’s what was said:

I’d like to have an opportunity to work on Nintendo’s Mario. Basically, he’s a character I’ve been playing with ever since I was a kid, so if I could do something with him, I’d be really happy.

Considering Nintendo’s recent track record of being a little more lenient with its IP and the kind of games that can be made with it, we wouldn’t be all too surprised if a Super Mario Warriors were to pop up someday. Even if it didn’t end up being a Musou title, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has shown the kinds of interesting ideas that other companies have for the plumber.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Mario Warriors game? What else do you think Koei Tecmo could do with the franchise? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
