I'm extremely tempted to pre-order through GAME, but then again I'm not really sure if I'll need those other 20 orders I didn't ask for.
Probably best to wait for Nintendo Uk site tbh
Ach I folded and pre-ordered through Amazon. I'll get what I deserve.
I've just pre-ordered from Amazon just in case Nintendo sells out, being Nintendo and their limited manufacturing supplies.
I'm undecided whether to get the full unit or just the pad. I definitely want the pad either way.
I'm not going to pre order though as I don't need this on release date. Happy to decide in November and if it means waiting until the new year before they're available again, so be it.
I really hope they follow suit with a SNES and N64 version. Would be so cool to have all three.
This makes me wonder when SNES remix is coming out. I think I own most of these on VC. I'd like to buy the SNES and N64 version of this but only if the latter included Rare's games
I have pre-ordered one for my partner. The perfect Christmas present for my beginner-gamer
Why couldn't they make the controllers wireless? Wireless isn't an expensive thing to implement these days.
Can't you plug the USB into a HDTV's USB port and let the TV power it, or do you really need a plug/USB Charge thingy?
@Angelic_Lapras_King This right here! It might actually work!
well I may have said I probably wouldn't buy it but....I just cant seem to resist.....have pre-ordered!
@Angelic_Lapras_King
Your parents help you hook it up...
I've got a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie with two wireless 8Bitdo SNES controllers for all my retro gaming needs so don't think I can justify buying more retro gaming devices. Especially when the Pi can fit into a case like this one:

@BionicDodo Nooooope
@BionicDodo
Er. Good for you?
Hey, I was just thinking that it would have made more sense to release this last year, on the 30th anniversary of the NES. And it would also fit in well with the 30 bundled games too—it's a play on the 30 thing, you see. Not quite as effective on its 31st birthday. I wonder if that was Nintendo's original intention but it just got delayed for whatever reason. Probably not; it would make too much sense for Nintendo to have considered releasing this to coincide with the NES' 30th birthday.
Preordered with zavvi, second controller too, €70 free post to Ireland. They don't take payment until it is dispatched in November so if I see a better deal I'll cancel with zavvi.
I'm pretty certain at this point that there's going to be a SNES version of this too, surely, along with the New SNES controller that you will be able to use on Wii/Wii U for VC titles. It just makes all kinds of sense from Nintendo's point of view—now that it's started down this rabbit hole . . .
@Kirk Nintendo are a multi-billion dollar company, seeing as you know better than them concerning literally everything they do, or don't do, why aren't you?!
@MJInnocent Circumstance.
@Kirk Given the subtitle 'Nintendo Classic Mini', there's clearly a series of these coming up in the next few years.
Fingers crossed that this thing is moddable. This could be a very convienent way to play NES games instantly again on an HDTV.
I hope Nintendo doesn't just blur the pixel edges the way they are on the Wii U. Hopefully it upscales and adds some scan lines. Managing my expectations though...
Why does the box contradict itself so many times in regards to the age restrictions?

@Kirk
You have a bit if a know it all attitude. "Circumstance" is a lazy cop-out answer.
Hopefully the pound stays weak so we can get this around €60.
@Martendo Don't worry, Boris will take care of that!
@HappyMaskedGuy
Lol
@Kirk You seem a bit less opposed today, despite what that other guy says, decided there's no point fighting it anymore? I wrote you my usual long reply yesterday, then stupidly closed out the tab - 1 of about 9 I had open, I was on the wrong page when I did it - nothing lost I'm sure but I did reply.
I'm going to have to be "That guy" this morning and take issue w/ the title - The Nintendo NES Classic Mini - b/c Nintendo and NES is redundant. The box never says it, the box says "Nintendo" "Entertainment system" "Nintendo Classic Mini", it never says "Nintendo NES". I assume we are going to get 3 articles a day on this for the next 5 months, might as well keep things short.
I vote for "The NES Mini".
Aaargh, stupid karma, that's what I get for being "That guy", the US edition isn't called the "Mini" anywhere on the box. Guess we'll have to call it "NES Classic".
Well we're still calling it "NES Mini" in ou rhouse.
Please let us know when you guys find out where you can pre-order in the U.S.
I've pre-ordered the console and two controllers! Christmas as usual is going to be expensive, lets hope the SNES classic comes out too at some point!
@NESlover85 you can always stare longingly at this Amazon US page until it updates
@Angelic_Lapras_King exactly what I was planning on doing
Amazon UK ships to the other side of the Atlantic so I just placed my pre order.
Official wording from Nintendo is Remember in Europe you only get a USB power cable, no USB power plug. I reckon someone at Nintendo is looking into selling these separately, £50 for the console or whatever its called isn't a bad price and £8 for additional controllers is pretty good. I thought after it was announced that the US would get the console for $60 and controllers for $10 I thought that the UK would probably sell the console for £60- £70 and the controllers for £15. I am pleased the prices aren't that bad.
@rjejr I was just gonna post that. lol
But, I do agree with you.
@Martendo And yet, true.
@the-madprofessor Yeah, I expect so.
£50 is a decent price, can't wait.
@Kirk Oh, my post yesterday was based on marketing. I didn't know how well this thing would sell b/c I didn't know if it would be in drugstores next to tins of Christmas cookies and Sega Gear or in Gamestop next to the 3DS. If Nitneod is going to market this as a console in the Nitnedo section of major retailers, and have commercials on Cartoon Network and do a serious social media campaign it will sell better than if it's just a dump. I think 3DS Portal for amiibo was a dump, 2DS is getting lots of love w/ the Ntinedo Play stuff.
Of course w/ Ntinedo it's sometimes hard to tell b/c they don't really market anything well, but I do think retail placement of this will matter - toy section next to the $20 Jakks Pacific Pac-Man games won't look very good, next to the $79 2DS, maybe it becomes a purchase.
@Kirk You wrote this last July -
"Figure it the Nibelsnarf out! Is what I say.
You basically promised us before the original Wii came out, ten years ago at E3 2005, that we'd be able to play virtually all of Nintendo's games from its past consoles and we still aren't there yet."
I think they have figured it out, just not in a way that you like.
watch it...-Megumi
10 pounds more than the us and it dosent even come with a ac adapter what a joke, i bet all the games are gonna be in 50hz too
@pokemasterrrrr You're getting on my nerves, go spam GameFAQs or something.
@rjejr Yeah, def not in the way I'd like. And, to be fair, 30 games (so far at least) is pretty far off the mark in terms of getting all the retro titles on there—even less so than the Virtual Console. lol
@rjejr It will certainly be interesting to see what kind of store space it gets.
I know this much: In most gaming stores, Microsoft and Sony share the majority of the space, with Nintendo usually getting a small area out of the way half the time, and this means it has less space than the other guys to show off its consoles but more consoles to fit into that space.
When NX comes out, how is Nintendo supposed to get decent space for all its hardware and games?
I'm not sure adding more hardware to the mix shortly before the NX launches was ultimately the best solution, because the NX really is going to need as much store space as it can possible get if it's going to get noticed by the average shopper.
But, I guess we'll see. . . .
@Dazza bookmarked!
@Kirk Maybe NX is mail order only?
I do wonder about shelf space as well, but then I realize I don't know what the #$$%#@ NX is - home, handheld, both - so I stop wondering about it. I'm pretty sure that it will be in the gaming section though.
Oh, and I looked on Wiki, and you are right, Wii U has a lot of NES VC titles, very similar list to the 30 on this thing. But Wii U only sold 13m, and i'ts still $299 - how I don't know - and those games were $5 each, so $60 for this is still a bargain. Not that I expect you to buy 1.
I have been wondering this morning if this was the device Ntineod was expecting to sell 20mil of, not NX. It might be small enough and cheap enough to do that. Probably not, but in light oft is I'm reexamining all the rumours and leaks over the past year.
@Stitches Different European ratings boards.
7 is PEGI - Pan European
12 is USK - German
6 is Age classification of information products - Russian
Is it backward compatible with wii
Sarcasm
@rjejr I think only God himself knows what NX is.
@kamikazilucas It was to be expected really,it's just the way it always has been.Actually though.at current exchange rates it converts to $66 so it's not too bad.They could have slapped a 60 quid Brexit price on it.
@OorWullie most 60 dollar wii u games are 40 pounds
@samuelvictor I'll do the same
I'll pick myself up the controller, but don't really see the point in the 'console' itself. Can't see this selling too well either. It's got a buzz on Nintendo forums but so many other things do and then fail to sell. We're in a bubble here.
Already preordered mine and a controller at GameStop.
Pre-ordered mine from Grainger Games (£49.99).
Loads of people I know who aren't into gaming have done the same, it's got a good buzz for sure.
Nintendo are being soo lazy to not include an AC adapter!
@samuelvictor the plug standards is NO excuse, if that was the case then why is it my Wii U came with a UK plug and my old 3ds came with a UK plug as well?
But yeah, like you said, most people have spare phone adapters. My tv has USB ports so that will power my mini NES?
