Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Release Date Confirmed for North America

Posted by Thomas Whitehead

Going back to the start

The Etrian Odyssey series certainly has its share of loyal fans, with the latest entry in the first-person RPG series arriving on the 3DS earlier this year — Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. While that's the latest numbered entry, Atlus will shortly be bringing Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden to 3DS in Japan, which is a new spin on the first game in the series.

We've known for a little while that this title will come to North America as Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl, and Atlus has now confirmed that the game will launch in the region as physical retail and an eShop download on 1st October, priced at $39.99. It'll have all new animations and an optional orchestral soundtrack, but perhaps more importantly adds fresh content and aims to provide a solid starting ground for new players. The Story Mode — a first for the franchise — will provide five preset characters and be driven by its narrative, while veterans can jump into the familiar Classic Mode. Whichever option is taken, this new version of the original will have new dungeons and upgrades to accommodate improvements seen in Legends of the Titan.

So, how many of you in North America are planning to pick this up on 1st October?

I just posted this over on the forums! Can't wait to see what they have done story wise to the franchise! Just too many games this year. Thanks for 4 of them Atlus!!

@Thomas You should probably mention the price as the last Atlus game went for 49.99 here! This one will be 39.99.

Argh!!! Reading the SMT4 review was agony enough, but this news is just too painful!!!
Suffice to say, I live in the UK; where we still don't have a solid release date for EOIV!

Hope to god EOIV sells well enough in Europe for someone to consider bringing this over here, Etrian Odyssey is one of my favourite series, imported 1-3 from
America and am eagerly awaiting 4 to launch here.

I will be getting this also but haven't even started the last one yet. It's still in the shrinkwrap as I try to beat all these other Great games we have received this year Through the Eshop and through Retail. What a great year! I cannot Remember a year such as this one for any system ever. It's a great time to be a 3DS owner. I love the cover art on the packaging. I will be getting the Cartridge. Man if we get the announcement that Fantasy Life is getting Localised this will be even better!

@Windy Totally agree! There is just too much to play and I still have about 5 unfinished games just from this year alone. Not to mention I haven't finished any eshop games I got yet! I wouldn't even mine if the first 4-5 months of next year are quite. However I believe we will get Bravely Default by March!

So it's a remake of the first game? That's actually awesome. I'd completely missed this series until now, so this'll be a great place to start. And that coverart is beautiful.

Etrian Odyssey is a little too hardcore for me, as far as having to make your own map and whatnot, but they look like a lot of fun. As everyone else is saying: The 3DS is on a roll this year! A barrel roll even!

Nice!! I was gonna get the 4th one, but when I heard they were making a remake of the 1st one I decide to wait. I'll hopefully have it by the end of the year

@hydeks You can dl the demo of Etrian Odyssey 4 and see for yourself. The demo is the first part of the game and if you so choose to buy it you can transfer over the data to the new version of EO4. I personally love the series and just beat EO4 at over 140 hours!

Not sure what I'll do here. Played through the first one already, and it is such a long game, and still need to play 3&4. But the series is awesome, and I would recommend to anyone into very hardcore RPGs who hasn't played the first one.

@Weedy Atlus is probably the worst about tempting European players. That is why I am very against region locking. It is not a matter of waiting but if the game will ever be localized there in the first place.

@MERG Just beat it. I realized I just don't have the time to devote so much of it to one game. I may go back one day and finalize it but I doubt it!

Another 3DS game is great news for the 3DS but I wonder what they are thinking by having this release the same month as Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Also that Batman game is coming out that month too. I know some can afford to purchase all 3 but I think the majority will buy Pokemon have that take up their time for a while. I know I don't plan to buy anything but Pokemon that month. I already have a back log of games to work through before then.

@MERG In the words of Mario here we go. Just this year alone first games I've barely touch or haven't even started yet. Unchained Blades, Fire Emblem Awakening, Soul Hackers, Castlevaina LoS MoF, Denpa Men 2, both Oracle Zelda's, Dillon's Rolling Western TLR, and Super Little Acorns.

Now games I'm about half way to almost done with. Monster Hunter Ultimate, Luigi's Mansion, Nano Assault EX, and DKCR which I did beat but I'm unlocking the bonus levels! That pretty much goes for EO4 as well

You you know I'm just going to add like 6-7 more games to that list by years end!

I wonder if this'll have any cool extras like EOIV or the last two MegaTen games? If it does, I'm totally preordering it the day they announce it.

@LunarFlame17 I'm sure it will as I believe all my EO games have had one. Its just what the company does. Almost always a cd and sometimes an art book! Its the only reason I haven't been dl'ing them!

@ToxieDogg This is a perfect example of why software devs should be given the choice as to whether their games be region locked or not. Can't wait to play this at an unspecified date in the distant future... yay.

YES! I've wanted to get into this series, but I don't like starting a series part way through. I think this will definitely be a good reason to finally start playing!
