Nintendo Download: 13th September 2012 (North America)

Fractured action over two screens, shooting, retro ninjas and selling books
There may be a shiny new home console hogging the headlines today, but the world keeps spinning and another Nintendo Download update arrives. Wii misses out, unfortunately, but there's an interesting mix of handheld titles to choose from; let's get to it.
3DS eShop
Fractured Soul (Endgame Studios, $11.99) — A game that's been eight years in the making, this action platformer — with shmup sections thrown in — looks full of promise. With both screens in use and dynamic switching between the two, this title looks set to test your reflexes and your mind at the same time. Our review will be with you very shortly, but until then you can learn more about it in our interview with Endgame Studios.
Heavy Fire: Special Operations 3D (Teyon, $4.99) — In recent weeks Teyon has given us the chance to shoot cartoon pirate chickens and safari animals on the African plains, so it only makes sense that shooting other humans in a war is next. This title is likely to be inspired by WiiWare's Heavy Fire: Special Operations, but with stylus aiming and some nice 3D killing on the top screen. We'll get ourselves to the battlefield and bring you our review soon.
3DS Virtual Console
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (Konami, $2.99) — This Game Boy title from Konami arrived after the highly regarded Nintendo 64 title with the same name, and gives you the mission of saving ancient Japan from the evil Black Ship Gang, all while rescuing fellow ninja, Yae: plenty to do then. Fans of the N64 title beware, however, as this entry has its fair share of flaws that drag it back; you can read all about it in our Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon review.
DSiWare
Bookstore Dream (CIRCLE Entertainment. 200 DSi Points / $1.99) — This resource management sim gives you the task of opening and running a successful book store. You'll be responsible for choosing and managing stock, enticing customers into the store and arranging for author book signings. While the idea of getting rich from a book store may be pure fantasy, this looks like it could be a promising budget title. We'll have our review on the shelf as soon as possible.
Nintendo Video
It's another episode of Dinosaur Office on Nintendo Video, and simply watching it will enter you in a competition with the chance to win a special episode of Dinosaur Office: The Remix.
If you want to shoot stuff, do a bit of platforming, wander around ancient Japan or sell some books, you're covered. Is there anything for you this week?

Mystical Ninja is only $2? Wow, they must KNOW it sucks to manage to get the lowest price on 3DS VC.

Fractured Soul seems like it's definitely worth a look. Just wish they had a demo. With all I've seen and heard about it, I still don't feel like I have a good grasp on how it really plays. Maybe I'll wait for that review...

Fractured Soul seems to be getting all sorts of praise (8.5/10 from NWR & A from Nintendojo), but I just don't know if it's right for me (that $11.99 price tag isn't helping either, lol).

For a non 3D game, Fractured Soul does take up a lot of blocks to download (2982 Blocks; more than NSMB2!). Anyhow, I decided to download the game after reading the interview with Endgame Studios the other day. It was a great read and wanted to support and show my appreciation for following through and finalizing this game after so many years. If the game is as good as every one else is saying, then that will be icing on the cake! I love platformers and I feel that this one is not going to disappoint me. I'll be indulging in this game with a beer on the side later on this evening.
To Endgame Studios; Cheers!!

I'm interested in a game about running a bookstore, I must be losing my hardcore gamer tag. There's just something about a bookstore that takes me back to when I was a kid. I hope I have the option to stock Goosebumps

^Don't worry, their last on-rails shooter was good, so this shouldn't be too bad...

Great week. An awesome GB game (For people who like simplicity like me), an awesome 3DSware game, and a seemingly good DSIware. Great job NOA!
But I still wonder why the sonic games still have eshop pages...
