Nintendo announces the upcoming release of The Last Story™ – Limited Edition bundle including a SteelBook™ case, soundtrack CD and art booklet

18 January 2012 – Nintendo today announced an exclusive limited edition bundle for The Last Story, the latest action-packed RPG to come from Hironobu Sakaguchi, available exclusively on Wii™ across Europe from 24 February.

The limited edition The Last Story bundle will be available for pre-order while stocks last and features a copy of the game, an exclusive SteelBook™ cover decorated with beautiful artwork, and a The Elements Of The Last Story package which includes The Premium Soundtrack CD and The Illustrations art booklet. The CD features a 7-track selection of music from the game composed by Nobuo Uematsu who has also collaborated with Hironobu Sakaguchi on many of his previous iconic RPGs.

The Last Story adds a modern twist to the traditional RPG formula, offering a strategic, real-time combat system and allowing you to customise your character and weaponry. By mastering a mysterious ability called The Gathering you will be able to help the main protagonist Zael and his band of mercenaries complete the many missions and battle vast bosses by discovering their weak spots and using teamwork to bring them down.

Unlike many other RPGs, The Last Story not only features a story-driven single player campaign, but also two online multiplayer modes, Deathmatch and Co-op, allowing you to battle against or alongside up to five other people from across Europe. Online battles can yield rare weapons and items that can be carried over into the single player campaign.

The limited edition bundle of The Last Story, the latest action-based RPG from Hironobu Sakaguchi, launches across Europe exclusively for Wii on 24th February 2012. Each bundle contains an exclusive SteelBook™ cover, a copy of the game and a The Elements Of The Last Story package.

I'll be very cross if the people of UK make this flop for the US and the other regions. T-T Don't you dare fail us, a lot is riding on the sales in your country. Just like it did with Xenoblade.

Still bummed about the USK rating ruining the beauty. Maybe I'll just go for the stand-alone game so I wont have to see it (and save some money :P ).

I'd like to see how much it is so i can decide on preordering the limited edition. I'd only preorder in a webshop that accepts payment in Euro though since nobody knows which effects even the slightest surprising news on a Euro-country might have on exchange rates. Nowhere to be seen in those i know yet.
@James: Are you going to do another News article the first time it pops up in a European shop or webshop ? I'd really appreciate that. :)

The US already gets a lot of stuff that Euralia does not, so do not fret the reverse happening to you.

@Collision_Cat: Have you tried Shop.to? Play.com? Zavvi? The Hut? I know cats in general are lazy but try activate yourself a little before throwing tantrums around you.

@KID_A I have no idea, but Reggie should be fired for not bringing this to America as well.

This game should be coming here, that looks so cool!

NoA doesn't hate Americans, it's more that they just don't care about appeasing a small core gaming audience when it means taking a (small) financial risk.

If you want The Last Story to have any chance of release in North America then be sure to support the limited release of Xenoblade. Hopefully that game will be profitable and NoA will consider doing something similar for The Last Story and Pandora's Tower.

@Collision_Cat & @Mok Did I just witness a skit between you two? :O

Anyway keep your eyes on the usual suspects. Game.co.uk I wouldn't be surprised got it. However I wouldn't recommend pre-ordering instore as they'll NEVER GET IT IN (like the Tales of the Abyss 3DS fiasco).

Honestly I'm guessing NoA would want to see how Xenoblade does in the US before considering releases for Last Story or Pandora's Tower. I don't expect they announce anything until May so they can see Xenoblade's first month sales which means we'd be looking at a late summer/fall release IF they decide to localize any of the other games.

Agreed! The limited edition of Zelda Skyward sword also had such a nasty looking logo!

@James: Thanks for answering. Since KAI7321 (24.) mentioned it's available at Zavvi the ship's really sailed now.
I thought it would be around the price the CCPro game packs. For about 70 € max i'd think about it. Can't justify spending more for the limited edition.

Amazon have it listed as £34.99 so I expect Zavvi, The Hut etc to drop it to a more sensible price soon - £80 is way too much.

Saw the ad on the Nintendo Channel last night. Wish I had the funds to pre-order this, I have still yet to purchase Xenoblade and Zelda Skyward Sword. I'm impressed with this limited edition promotional bundle, but no doubt I'll have to go without for a few months. Good things come to He who waits, and all ...

The shocking economic state of this country makes me want to swim away from it, maybe I'll see you in passing ;)

@misswliu81
Thanks for the update :) I feel an imminent pre-order going in despite my earlier pessimistic rant.
