well I'll give it another search tomorrow then, I think I remember searching around there and couldn't find anything...also remember some area being blocked off by boulders...

@prosody thanks, im at the gobul urgent quest so am i almost close to getting that skill? and what is an easy way to get barroth tail other than choping the tail off. because i need it for the waist armor.
Not really, you've got at least another ten or fifteen hours to go I'd say.
As for Barroth's tail, your best bet is to slice it off and then carve it. It's not easy to do - you'll need a weapon with a lot of green sharpness (preferably blue!) and a lot of patience. Good luck
I was going to have a moan about not being able to kill a Great Jaggi this morning, but when I tried again today, I owned TWO of them in quick succession, in two lives (it would have been one life if I was able to heal myself in time, but that was partly thanks to my weapon losing its edge.). All thanks to my new bone-axe.
I look forward to the enemies that have tiny areas of weakness...
how long in too the game do u get the long sword n the other 1
You unlock the Long Sword after clearing all the three-star quests (including the urgent Gobul) but you may not be able to make one at first depending on what materials you have.
I just encountered Lagiacrus for the first time on the Monster Guts mission (yes, my progress is rather slow). I pee'd a little bit. That thing is scary. And I've gotta go back into the water to find some more Monster Guts D:
(Although I've gotta say, Lagi's AI is awesome)

My first few hours were a heady mix of jubilation and confusion as I roamed the wild's collecting resources like there was no tomorrow. Now, I get it, and boy is this gonna keep me entertained. I love details and this game is full of them. Already it's resembling Animal Crossing in the way your brain is multi-tasking the whole time. So much to do, so much to collect. Love it.
@Raylax: That was an awesome moment indeed. There was me looking for Epioth guts, I enter the cave bit to look for more, and omg there he is. I pulled out my note-book thingy to record him, and the moment I do, he looks at me. Then I had to get guts with him swimming about. He bit me a few times, but I was packing a massive pile of mega-potions, thank gawd.
I played my first online quest with someone from a gaming mag, and it was quite fun.
My keyboard was unable to type at some points, which was extremely frustrating, as it took a good 30 seconds to type out a line with my control pad. Is this a known issue - are you unable to type with the keyboard during a quest?
N.B. I couldn't say for sure, but It might have been that the keyboard wasn't functioning the moment I entered the city. (I was made aware of it when the magazine man came back from a quest and I found couldn't type with the keyboard.) The keyboard functioned perfectly before I entered the city AND on joining another city to see if I could get it to work.
I have not completed a single quest Ever since I got the game, I've mostly been playing offline, but when I do go online, I can't seem to join any active quests. When I try to join, it says that "the quest is no longer accepting participants" or something similar. I tried the "hunting mushrooms" quest by myself, but no one joined me and I failed the quest As a result, my HR is 1!
Is there something I'm missing in terms of joining a quest or allowing others to join?

You should be joining quests while the other players are still in the City. When browsing for a city look for the number in brackets "( )" - they denote how many of the people in that city are in a quest at that particular moment.
Joining a quest is as simple as clicking the noticeboard after aplayer has applied for one though the guild - provided it isn't full (they can range from 1-4 players) or password protected.
@edhe: You can chat with a keyboard? Are you talking about a usb keyboard, or something else, because that would fantastic.
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

Hmm... I'm guessing that the problem I'm having is joining quests with passwords. Otherwise, the quests on that board say that there is only 2 or 3 players in the quest. I guess I'll have to try again later.

If the game is telling you the quest is no longer accepting participants, I think it might have more to do with the party already on the quest. You can't join a quest mid way through. Furthermore, if you were browsing an "Everybody's Welcome" or "Newcomers Welcome" City, it's unlikely they'd have put a password on it anyway.
You could use that keyboard to chat with others in the game, or just on the internet channel?

Both. Regarding Monster Hunter Tri, the whole online thing is a bit tricky as the recipient of your message needs to be online AND not currently in a quest - I've never been able to send anyone from this site a message because they've always been offline or on a quest.
But you're still able to type freely while you're in a City Gate, a City and presumably on the Field, although my recent experiences (see post #51) show that it isn't always so simple.
It sure beats typing out a message at 10 words a minute with your controller.
USB Keyboard is awesome, you can type in-game messages much much quicker, and the gestures and shout-outs are mapped to Ctr/Shift F1-F12. When I next go back online, I'll have Wii-Speak and the keyboard ready.
Anyway, back to Moga Village now, I haz fireflies I need to catch.
I played 30 hours off-line, so my guy is pretty stacked from 5 star questing. Well when I went on-line I had to start all the way back over at 1 star schtuff. It is pretty fun slaughtering Great Jaggis with noob swho hit me with their Great Swords more than they hit the monster though. XD
