It does sounds good from the review. I wasn't impressed with the demo though, did the demo just poorly represent the game? it did kind of just thorw you in the middle of the game. The graphics seemed blurry too... I'd rather have the jaggies than blur, that's why I didn't like Little Kings Story...
Coming from a person who has never played a MH game, I like it a lot! For me, it`s the kinda game you need patience to play though. There is tons of items, weapons, armors, monsters, and other stuff. I never played the demo, and the graphics seem fine to me. No blur at all, and graphics shouldn`t be a big factor on deciding unless they hurt your eyes or something. My only gripe about the game(and those who own it as well could agree) is that the text is very small. I can still read it, but I take my time when doing so. All in all, it`s a great game. And you should probably rent it to see for yourself.
Maybe blur wasn't the correct word... the enviroment graphics just seem filtered to make them look smoother. maybe I'm just used to the sharp/crisp graphics in PC games lately. I can get over that though if it's a good game, the demo just kind of lost me a little
You're quite right Steve, they are heavily filtered and it can be off-putting in places when the screen takes on a Vaseline smeared-like appearance! However I do think the game would have been uglier with jaggies, so I'll happily take it.
As for the demo, it's a good reflection of the game's quality but not its qualities, if you'll forgive me semantics pedantry. The joy of MH is getting something new out of each quest to use in your next one: a new enemy carve to make a sharper weapon, a new bug-type to combine with other items. Playing them each individually doesn't mean anything: it's how they relate to each other that makes them enjoyable. I think it's a great game having spent about five hours on it today before even going online!
The game is sick, you don't know what you're missing. Though the demo throws you right in to the action, the full game gives you enough room in the beginning to become well-aquainted.
@Nintenfreak Only certain weapons have elemental properties - these are usually indicated below its attack with the Elem statistic. Later on - and I mean a lot later on - you can use the Awaken skill to add elemental properties but we're talking about at least 50 hours in. Hope that helped!
Just gonna take a nice stroll into town, maybe pop by Gamestation, then pop in Starbucks for a coffee, read the MHT manual while I watch ladies the world go by. Then... I'm gonna run home as quick as I can, arms flailing above my head.
Most impressed!!! Had three hours playing earlier, then annoying life got in the way. I'm now counting down the minutes till I get to continue the hunt, then a mate's coming round for some boozy co-op later. Yay.
Arrghh. All this talk is making me want to get this.It looks awesome but I'm not sure I can invest the time needed what with a toddler,a baby due any day and a backlog of games that is getting increasingly out of control Damn E-Bay. Oh sod it, I'm gettin it come payday
oh yea sirr the game ir great im new to MH series but games great the demo didnt justify how well it is or playin wit a wiimote and chucks are great for it ...imo
For everyone new to the game, don't get discouraged when the game begins to get really really hard. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get used to how easy the first couple levels of missions are and then hit their first boss and give up. Don't. This is a game where you die a lot. Whenever you die, look at it as a learning experience and move on. It's ok to die, but not ok to ignore learning from the death.

Okay I decided to buy the game. You guys are right, it's a great game and has a lot more to it than I thought, I spent several hours playing it last night.
I do however disagree with the claims (from Nintendo and some of the other reviews) that this game has the best graphics on the Wii. I'm playing it with the component cable on an HDTV and still the text is a little uncomfortable to read and it's a little hard to get past the whole smeared look of the graphics. I personally believe that Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers and Zelda have better graphics (at least graphics that are easier to look at)... but other than that, this is a great game!
