I'm still incredibly excited for the game. People always seem to forget that 7's and 8's are still very good scores (not to mention it's also gotten a 9 and a perfect 5/5) and since I've spent much of my gaming life playing and re-playing Banjo-Tooie and Super Mario Sunshine, I've come to expect camera problems with my platformers. I've been craving a platformer that harkens back to the big, exploration-heavy games of the N64-Gamecube era (like Mario and Banjo); and besides, Gamespot's Now Playing feature that showed 40 minutes of gameplay absolutely sold me

What platformer has a perfect camera? Even SMG's was a pain in the butt a lot of the time...
Anyway, none of this negativity matters to me. My favorite platformer is Psychonauts and Epic Mickey is of the same breed.

All my friends think it will suck but I haven't seen one review lower than an 8 and that's good for a third party game.UPDATE: Destructoid gave it a seven.

This seems to be the best aggregate of all the scores so far. I've been watching classic Mickey cartoons all evening. Couldn't be more excited for this game

Here's the deal (or at least this is how it seems, though I haven't played the game so technically these aren't my real opinions but here's what it sounds like) about this game:
It's flawed: YesIt doesn't live up to the hype: YesIt's camera is pretty bad: Yes
It's a very fun platformer with a great story and great environments that will still be very fun even if it's not the end-all-be-all game it was hyped to be: YES
Therefore, I'm excited for this.

I just finished reading the Gamesradar review. I'm glad I read that one. I thought the Ign review was WAY too nitpicky and focused on the fact thats it not a PS3/360 title (the review didn't say that, but nitpicks like voice acting, visuals, etc make me think thats what the issue was). The Gamesradar review actually talked about the game and while they did say that the camera was not good, they did like the platforming, story, characters, etc. Of course, the guy mentions at the beginning that he's biased because he loves platformers & Disney. I have to say that I feel the same way though. I'm a huge platformer fan and I like Disney a lot. As I was reading the review, I kept seeing some amazing pictures of places I hadn't seen from the game yet. It really got me even more excited for the game (and I'm excited a lot already).
I also had the chance to see that Gamespot feature on Epic Mickey recently that showed off most of a level and I was wowed by it. The game is looking great.
Edit: Another review I'm glad I read for this game: http://g4tv.com/games/wii/62858/disney-epic-mickey/review/

There aren't many decent platformers on the Wii. This looks like on of the decentish ones hopefully. I'd be interested to read some impressions. I found the SMG cameras ok except on green star and purple coin levels - though I saw that as part of the skill wrt the fact they were kind of "bonus challenge" levels.
Mushroom Men's camera was not too good. The 2 Crash Wii games were ok camera wise

Just went to Best Buy and guess what they were selling. Yup, Epic Mickey, so I bought the collectors edition...Too bad I'm in New Jersey visiting family, won't be able to play it until tomarrow.

That's strange. Weren't there reports of the game releasing early in Europe too? (it's not scheduled for release on the US until Tuesday)

I Just opened up the collector's edition. Still haven't played the game, but here are some comments on what comes in the big box:The figure is surprisingly a good sized figurine and good quality too with movable arms and feet with a detachable paint brush. The Skins for the Wiimote and console are pieces of garbage as expected. The bonus DVD comes with 8 behind-the-scenes featurettes, a concept art gallery, 4 remastered shorts, and bonus video extras whatever those are.The box all this comes in is very big and white.

Sounds very nice, aside from the skins.:3

Man, the skin looks kinda...scary, actually. The figurine and the box look very nice, though. Thanks for sharing.

Have the game since Yesterday. A bit dissapointing because platforming and combat,a side paint and thinner mechanics os choose your paths, are very unispired and plain simpe like today are some RARE platformers... But it's stillo good enough for a 7/10.
Shame on you, Disney Europe to make this not come to Europe.

Sweet pics! I can't wait to pick this up when it arrives at my local Kmart. I'm not going to play it until I 100% DKR, but I'm still really excited to get it!
