The problem with this is if Unreal Engine 4 is scalable to mobiles but they don't support a Wii U version it means that it artificially limits publishers. I don't think Wii U/PS4/720 games would be common anyway but if a developer wants to use Unreal Engine 4 it means they don't even have the choice.
I think the term might have some negative connotations. Monster Games has worked exclusively with Nintendo for the last several years with Kensuke Tanabe who overlooks Retro Studio games as well. It's in good hands.
Emily Rogers seems certain of this and she's discussed it with quite a few people. I was skeptical but after this I'm almost certain that it's the Square Enix game that Straight Right is porting to the Wii U.
@ThomasBW84 What are they odds they included Nanostray in Nano Assault Ex? They only released one game on GBC so I doubt it's a VC release... Then again they never said it would be on a Nintendo platform, could be Android/iOS ports?
@TheAdza Well they already have Lego City and Lego Marvel announced so they'll be able to see the difference between an exclusive, a multplatform release and a late port. It probably doesn't cost too much to port the games anyway.
This is nice but why wasn't it in the original announcement? Between this and the Activision Walking Dead game it just seems like publishers make an effort to announce the Wii U version later.... I don't get it.
The Wonderful 101 is a Nintendo IP so that was obvious. Bayonetta 2 could theoretically go multiplatform because we don't know all the terms of the contract but from what both Platinum and Sega have said it's all up to Nintendo.
... except they say it was a success. It wouldn't be a success if it didn't break even. I don't think the console versions indicate that it did badly either, unless we're also assuming that Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate failed on the 3DS?
For reference this magazine has a history of reporting rumours of this sort including one about Dragon Quest IX being reworked for PSP... and we saw how well that worked out.
Considering I have Fallblox, Denpa Men, Crimson Shroud and more to finish from the eShop I don't mind if it goes a bit quiet for a while. Code of Princess would be a day 1 purchase though.
This game doesn't look great but it's a good sign that Activision are releasing pretty much everything on the Wii U. Deadpool will probably get a Wii U version but I'm not sure about Destiny, depends how much control Bungie have.
Ooo might pick this up as well... that'd make four launch titles and I'm also considering picking up Ninja Gaiden 3 and Warriors Orochi(if they make launch)!
This was released on iOS quite a while ago and I remember commenting that an eShop version would be cool. I'll definitely buy it when it releases in Europe.
