Topic: The Fall of Nintendo.. ?

Motion gaming made the wii standout, the wii u isn't really getting anyone's attention because theres nothing really appealing about it (the controller isn't enough this time). When the ps2 came out people bought it because 1. it had a dvd player, 2. the graphics were much improved and 3. it looked cool, those are the only 3 reasons people bought it besides games. The only reason people bought the wii was because they thought it would be revolutionary, and it was but not in the way they were thinking. Many thought the wii's motion controls would be more accurate than they were and would be used in more quality third party games, but instead the wii appealed to MOSTLY parents and small children and not to hardcore gamers that value quality game play and stories that a lot of more mature(not M rated) third party games have. As for the 3DS, if the screen were a little bigger and the 3D feature was REMOVED and replaced with another feature like an LED display or something then it would be selling like hot cakes right now. The 3D mode is not comfortable to play with, and if its not comfortable then it simply wont work(virtualboy?). Blueray isn't that much better than dvd(the difference between vhs & dvd is much bigger than that of dvd and blueray ) so people don't care that much about it, the ps3's graphics don't look THAT much different than the ps2's so guess what, some people decided not to get it because it was only a small improvement, why pay so much for something so small? ...You can argue that ps3 is so much more powerful than the ps2 but the ps2's graphics are still satisfiable compared to today's standards.

So heres what I think Nintendo should do:
1. Get rid of the baby blue and white color scheme
2. Get some more immersive games for all ages(HD Zelda, HD F-Zero, Some good FPS's first party maybe? Conduit HD? And some quality 3rd party games, etc.
3. Create an organized online gaming world.

That would be a big enough change to get people to buy a new system and handheld

Every company experiences these so called "falls" or disasters. Believe it or not even Apple had a few bad years back then

That would be enough for people not to buy the system.

The fall of Nintendo is upon us! Soon the world will be devoid of lighthearted games that promote good things like helping others who are in danger, being mute, and breaking into other people's houses and stealing their sh*t. As it is written in the Book of Nintendo:

And in the last days, Nintendo's handhelds will fail to sell millions upon millions and their money-printing features will fall dead by the wayside. Sony fanboys will overrun Nintendo forums, and even moderators will turn against their brethren, wishing for true anarchy. Yea verily, the headquarters of Nintendo will burn unto ashes on the ground, ashes that refuse to be revived.

Nintendo gets knocked down, but they'll get up again. 3DS is never going to keep them down.

Same here, I really don't see Nintendo keeling over and dying any time soon.

It seems like only yesterday the DS and Wii were being released and Nintendo was all "powah powah!" How quickly times seem to change...

A similar thing happened before with the Virtual Boy and N64, so I know that Nintendo will regain balance at the top

Just last month people were saying Sony would fall.
They get hacked and the madness began. Now Nintendo has less than expected sales of 3DS and it's the Apocalypse all over again? Did we forget Virtual boy? Don't you suppose they lost alot money on that deal?
That didn't end them and neither will this.

sigh... It's just people overreacting. As others have said, they've had consoles that have sold bad before.....

@Link79 Yeah, but the thing about the Virtual Boy was that it was more of a pet project. It wasn't on the same scale as the 3DS and it certainly wasn't Nintendo's primary investment. They didn't have so much to lose on it whereas it's much more of a big deal if the 3DS fails. Having said that, I still don't think this is the end as we know it. While the price cut clearly means all is not well in the Nintendo world, it's seems to me that everybody is being a bit of a drama-queen. If, by the end of the year, everything is still in dire straits, then it's time to play "Sultans of Swing". _{what an incredible metaphor}

Its time for a Nintendo Sega Merger...

Nintendo 64 was a failure in many levels compared to PS. Gamecube sold even less. Virtual boy was a disaster, Gameboy Micro a total failure. Still DS is the second best selling game console of all time... and Wii the 5th. Nintendo is still the biggest gaming manufactor and sofware developer. Ofc the competition is harder than ever and 3ds started on wrong foot but its...waaay wrong to speak about the fall of Nintendo. Even if 3ds is a total failure Nintendo will get over it. They did so many mistakes with 3ds. Releasing a new expensive console without new ip's and high-profile 3d partys exclusives in the first months. Portable plumbers are not enough to save the deal. Still Nintendo will survive and in my opinion it will still be the no1 handheld. But lets wait and see.

Rare's barely out of the phase of releasing games originally intended for Nintendo consoles and even then their most recent work has been their equivalent of Wii Sports and Miis. I doubt what's being put out now would be much different if they were still working under Nintendo. They're as slow as ever.

After seeing what's coming...why should they be worried?!
