Well I'm 18 tommorow and everybody keeps telling that I'm getting too old to play games. They say I won't be able to get a future from playing games. Kinda mean but... What do you think? is 18 too old to play video games?
No, of course not! I think you're forgetting that a lot of the most successful modern videogames are rated 18. Even then, you can still play games like Mario and so on. Tell these people to shut up! Or, if you're more polite than I am, just kindly disagree with them.

This is still an issue where you live? That's pretty sad, considering that the average age of a gamer is officially older than you now. I'm 21 and still gaming...my brother's 25 and still gaming...Corbie's 30-something and still gaming...no reason you should worry just because you're 18.
I read somewhere that the average video gamer age is 35, not sure where I read that though. It makes sense, seeing as how video games have been around for over 30yrs. Also, I'm pretty sure that the target audience for the PS3/x360 is over 18, because of all of the M rated titles that are top sellers.
You just gotta follow your heart. Anything can be done to excess, of course, but that's a different story. Some people consider any game playing at all "to excess." Don't listen to 'em!
Children play a lot of K18 games. It's easy to confirm: just ask any kid you know what kind of games people mostly play in schools, and you'll get a lot of Call of Duty and GTA. It seems to be actually the old timers (like me) ,and women who play Nintendo most.
When people say "your too old for Video Games" is away of telling you to be more Grow up.
Video Games are fun and all, and people of meny age, play them, But!, Don't let Video Games get in the way of Real life. The older you are, most less likey you will be able to spent more time playing games.
I'm 21, and I enjoy playing My Video games. and I wish I could play more, but it comes to a time when The Fun has to Stop. So in other words: When people say "your too old for Video Games" They mean:," you been playing too much games."

LOL. I'm 25 and I still play videogames regularly. My one friend is married with two kids and he still plays videogames. Heck, my uncle is 40+ and has a PS3. You're never too old to play videogames, in my opinion. People who think that just don't know much about videogames, that's all.
I'll echo what everyone else said, it depends on how much. If it's your main hobby, then you probably want to find something else to spend the majority of your spare time doing. I'm nearly 21 and would have previously considered myself a big gamer, but my DS is seriously gathering dust and my Wii isn't seeing much action lately, asides an occasional blast on Sonic 4.
My advice would be to pick up a book, and learn something cool. Doesn't matter if it's of no actual use to your future, just find something that interests you and do it (I'm seriously considering taking a Japanese language course once uni deadlines have settled down a notch. I'll probably never visit Japan but I'd love to know the language). Keep playing games in the rest of your spare time, no-one can stop you doing that, but don't have it your only/main hobby. That's the mistake I made, and a few years down the line it really bites you.
you're never too old for video games, just too busy. i've got two jobs and the forums to moderate, so I have very little free time, but when i do get the free time I need I play the hell outta what i've got. as long as you still enjoy them, screw the people saying you're too old for 'em. :3

Nope, if you like games when you're a kid I'm pretty sure you will as an adult, the Atari 2600 made an impression on me in the early 80s and watching the industry grow and develop is always of interest. Even if the only contemporary games mag I buy is 'Retro Gamer'...
