Topic: Swapnote Spotpass Service Discontinued

So I got a spotpass just now saying that the Spotpass feature (basically the only feature of any use) in Swapnote has been discontinued due to people exchanging inappropriate content via the service. I guess it was just a matter of time...has anyone else gotten this message yet?

OH MY GAWD! I hope thats not true!!! Me and my friends love Swapnote!! This isn't fair!! I exchanged fun notes via Swapnote! Nintendo shouldn't cancel it because of a few people using it in their own way D:

perhaps it means the new Flipnote is finally around the corner, then — that would kinda replace Swapnote's spotpass stuff since it's probably gonna be moderated just like Hatena was.

Yup, completely true. We can no longer communicate through Swapnote because of other people abusing the service.

I just went on Eshop and read it on the Swanpte description section... Its true... Swapnote is gone... THIS ISN'T FAIR!!! Swapnote was the only way for me to communicate with some of my 3DS friends! Oh, man... this is not fair!

I'm reading the Notificaiton sent from Nintendo and I am SOOO ticked... "Nintendo has been investigating ways of preventing this and determined it it is best to stop the Spotpass feature of Swapnote becasue it allows direct exchange of photos and was actively misued."

Wasn't there a mode on Swapnote that helped the user BLOCK certain friends from sending notes via Swapnote?? Yeah!! There was!! If I was getting abused, I would either delete the friend from my friend list OR stop them in the blocking way in Swapnote!!!
THIS ISN'T FAIR TO THE PEOPLE WHO LOVED THIS APP!!!!!
THEY EVEN STOPPED THE SPECIAL STATIONARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the way to block users in Swapnote was called: "Filter Notes". You could literally block several people from sending notes.
Nintendo had a way to stop this already!! Nintendo shoulda just told the people to use that feature!!!

Wowza just saw this, they even have a little announcement over on the Website. Sad to see Swapnote go it was a helluva a experiment for Nintendo, shame to see it fall victim of this.......Never had a problem with any of my friends, this is pretty crazy...

OMG!!! So many games are gonna suffer from this being gone!!!! Animal Crossing: New Leaf's biggest bragging right was sending pictures of your character in their village doing stuff! Pokemon X/Y will suffer because you could take pictures of your character in certain locations!! I am sooo freaking upset!!!!

@MrSRArter: yeah, but you know as well as i do Nintendo handles JP differently versus EU and NA. they could've been using JP as a testing ground for having both services running concurrently and felt it was an adequate replacement for a disabled swapnote, who knows :3

I just now thought of this, maybe 3DS Miiverse will be Swapnote's replacement.

I just got a text on this, I'm yet to get the message from big N. This poses some problems, we use it for the streetpass group I'm in to send updates on group dates and I must find more on this.

I just checked the eshop and opened the program.... insert foul word here they really have removed it.

Well, Swapnote's icon is getting kicked off of my main menu and into a folder.

well this sucks. since spotpass is gone i deleted swapnote. i really enjoyed it too...now its ruined

Let's be REAL here. We won't see 3DS Miiverse for a long period of time and we prolly won't see FlipNote 3D for a good while. Nintendo cancelled Swapnote because they found out that some people was abusing Swapnote and minors was "apparently" getting involved. What's funny is that stopping someone from abusing Swapnote is really easy. There's a "Filter Notes" mode AND if its getting REALLY bad... THE PERSON CAN JUST DELETE THAT PERSON FROM THEIR FRIEND LIST!! PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!
How the heck am I gonna contact my 3DS friends who moved??? Argggghhhhhh....
And they took away Special Notes!! No more cool stationary or notes from developers! C'MON, NINTENDO!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is hurting me!!!!
