@Tech101 Your list is pretty much the same as mine except minus FFX (I missed out on the PS2). I might go with Kain, Terra, Aeris and Vivi.
@BluTyGer I'd give it a shot if you're a rhythm fan. Maybe watch some more footage or try the demo if you can. I have many friends who love FF music but have never played the games before. There's bound to be many tracks that you will like.
It's got everything you want in a rhythm game: some of the best RPG music (over 70 tracks in the cart + DLC), 3 levels of difficulty, multiple modes including a practice mode and heaps of unlockables. I read somewhere that there's local multiplayer as well. There are some light RPG elements like levelling up and attacks/magic which might change things up a bit.
The only downer for me was the visuals. They're not as varied as say Rhythm Heaven except the 'event' tracks which show FMVs from the games. On the otherhand they're not distracting.

So when is this game coming out in Europe? I didn't even realize it was coming out next week so I went and paid it off today. I'm hoping to get a sample of this on the eshop this week before I pick it up.

This demo proved it was everything I wanted in a game. Stellar presentation, brilliant music and simple gameplay that allows you to simply enjoy the experience.
I'm liking everything I've been hearing about this one and I've already made my pre-order, but I do wish NA had gotten the demo, if only so I could see how it compares with Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure (Sega, at least, will be providing us with a demo for that).
Getting this means I probably won't be buying Rhythm Thief as soon as that comes out, though (I really don't like playing two games of the same genre at the same time, especially one that I'm kinda bad at like rhythm games); I hope that won't come back to bite me later when I go looking for a copy.
I am surprisingly interested in this game, I thought it was going to be total junk, but it's actually really fun... definitely going to pick it up when I have the money.
But the game comes out next week. I wanted the demo this week to give it a try first. Ether way I'm getting it anyways. I heard there are over 70 songs so there are bound to be quite a few from those games!

If Rhythm Thief clones anything I would say Elite Beat Agents. No one can clone Rhythm Heaven, its just too crazy.
Any news on when this demo comes to North America, I've been wanting to try it.
Except that the gameplay of Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Thief are almost exactly the same touch-screen-destroying style, and EBA is a far more traditional music game.
You make it sound like copying the only worthwhile rhythm game is a bad thing. At least I won't get bored of Rhythm Thief after 5 minutes. I played the demo way longer than I thought I would.

same here — i especially enjoyed the bad-guy-punching song, that was a lot of fun. i love Elite Beat Agents, and I love Rhythm Heaven; there's nothing wrong with a game that gives me more of what I love IMO :3
