I could make a joke like "Well, now the Wii U is saved!" or whatever but meh...

It seems like a decent puzzle game at least. Because of the gimmick and colors I'm little bit reminded of Meteos, and anything that reminds me of Meteos is doing one thing right at least. And it isn't like eShop is overflowing with these games or whatever. As long as the soundtrack goes beyond generic techno...

Huh. I mean it sounds way way better than your average licensed game at least. Probably because it doesn't need to come out at the same time as a movie.

Cautiously optimistic? I mean, I'm not sure people would make a cash-in game by making it a strategy game.

@V8_Ninja I don't entirely disagree but it's pretty obvious there's still a real, substantial audience despite the late 2000s (as in the previous decade...) being really bad over here sales-wise outside of some 360 titles (which makes too little sense to me). But look where we are now:

-Persona 4 is one of the only Vita titles people actually bought (barring indies),
-Xenoblade is the most popular new IP Nintendo's pulled out of the post-casual age (though I'm not including Nintendo Land)
-X is one of the only Wii U games people actually care about
-Ni No Kuni did far better than I would've guessed
-Fire Emblem: Awakening is the first game in the series to actually matter outside of Japan since literally the first time Fire Emblem was released outside of Japan
-Not to mention Dark Souls as a whole, though most probably don't actually consider it a JRPG I think
-Ubisoft is making a JRPG
-SE announcing last year the 2 sequels everyone actually wanted (barring TWEWY of course :p)

Basically everything notable in the genre is exceeding expectations over here. I mean I guess it isn't capturing the mass audience's attention like in the FFVII days, but being relevant to gamers doesn't mean it has to be relevant to everyone. That's really all I want at this point, just for some good quality, interesting JRPGs that people actually care about.

@Peach64 You do realize that
1. Most of the top 10 best selling titles were multi-console games that most hardcore gamers (even fans of Bioshock Infinite or TLOU) more often than not didn't care about right? I looked at the best selling software list, it was just a confirmation that what hardcore gamers care about is increasingly irrelevant.
2. Yeah Nintendo's stuff sells the best but there was no way like half of the 3rd party stuff on 3DS should have found the level of success it did (see: niche japanese games and indies) and the games consistently make money from what I understand. I would think consistently making money would be a good thing. EO4's success is still bizarre to me.

kkslider5552000 commented on Reggie Fils-Aime: Petitions Don't Affect Ninte...:

Yeah, that sounds about right. Nintendo has no reason to believe a game will sell just because a few thousand people said they want it once on the internet. I was kinda worried Reggie was gonna actively deny that fans do anything because that would be a BAD BAD BAD STUPID BAD idea to say, especially from Nintendo, especially right now. Presumably the more notable efforts give them a reason to take a 2nd look at possible successes but it would be dumb to ever assume internet popularity reflects anything, that is often a bad risk to take. And quite frankly, Operation Rainfall was a very much right time right place sort of thing in the first place, most petitions and the like do not even begin to matter as much as that.

That being said, I still think anyone who denies that Nintendo going against their usual business practices (See: Sin and Punishment 2's sales disaster) to focus on super cheap, Gamestop only localization/using the help of XSEED, all of which were publicly and to these companies suggested as a way to localize these games for cheap...seriously to imply OPRainfall had nothing to do with it is just lying. Period. It's just that they were smart enough to find a way to apparently prove that the game they want would actually make money.

wow...um...can't say I saw this coming.

I don't consider this a bad thing though. It's an open world game that would've come out less than a month after AC4 and if that means it's better, I'm not gonna be mad.

Though...wow does the universe want me to support indies.

You know, if stupid people wanted to not know what the lyrics of the song were, they could've at least complained when the song actually came out OVER A YEAR AGO.

These are probably the same morons that still think Born in the USA is a pro-American song.

@Kyloctopus Your opinion doesn't matter, considering how Wii Music and Nintendogs are a pretty good part of Nintendo's modern success.

also anyone who thinks Miyamoto forced the latest Paper Mario to have no story on a whim should know this is based on some idiotic survey in Japan where apparently no one care about the story in the previous game.

kkslider5552000 commented on EA Executive: Shigeru Miyamoto is 'Falling Dow...:

Getting past everything else, Miyamoto has had less to do with Nintendo's direction for quite a while now. So even if you believe this, Miyamoto is not the guy responsible for a large majority of what Nintendo has done in recent years. Like his role seems to be some vague role of looking over what other leaders in the company are doing and giving advice. And making Pikmin 3.

Of course, I am not getting into:
1. The fact that you have to be far more intelligent than this person could ever hope to be expected to insult Miyamoto and look like the better man.
2. EA's reputation (especially with Nintendo fans) making it difficult to make this look anything other than millionaires being butthurt that Nintendo isn't doing what THEY exactly want (even ignoring the Origin rumors).
3. The disrespect of a guy more respected, well remembered, KNOWN BY PEOPLE and successful than he could ever hope to be.
4. The tired, short-sighted ideas that EA continues to have in terms of TEH FUTURE OF GAMING~! I mean at least they acknowledge the importance of games beyond mobile but still...eh...

And you need to go to that link guys, it is astoundingly bad.

I'd say this is a non-story so far. Maybe for other devs it wouldn't be, but Ubisoft basically said that their upcoming Wii U ports and the like would determine if they would continue supporting the system (that's what I got out of interviews anyway). As we're 1 for 2 for success on Wii U and the it took them a while to announce Nintendo ports for anything, I don't think we can say whether X game will be on Wii U or not yet.
