I love video games. I think video games are an interactive art form with the same capacity as any other medium to move people. I wish I spent less time on the Internet discussing them and more time actually playing them, but hanging out with you guys can be pretty fun too. See you around the forums.

@MrWalkieTalkie Yes, because a series of YouTube videos entitled "iPhone Garbage" represents anything near the best iOS has to offer.

@Shambo To embed a YouTube video in a comment, copy the part of its URL after "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" and paste it inside this: (youtube:), but use brackets instead of parentheses.

For example, (youtube:BP2WjadrWs4) becomes this when you replace () with []:

@daveh30 We can argue forever if we're sharing anecdotal evidence, but my point is that smartphones and tablets inherently offer more functionality than traditional game devices. If a person (let's not say kid--you're right that they're less likely to own luxury products) only wants to carry around one device, which is Gruber's argument that I tend to agree with, an iPad is more versatile than a 3DS.

I'm fortunate to have both an iPad and a 3DS, and as gaming systems I love them both dearly. However, were I forced to choose between them, I would pick the iPad without a second's hesitation, simply because it does so much more. I agree with Gruber that the majority of today's kids would make the same choice.

It all comes down to, as he said, how many devices people are willing to carry around. Most would rather have a device that plays games and does a billion other things than a device that just plays games really well.

Another option for those who don't want to settle for a glitchy version but lack a Wii/Wii U is Steam. All but one games are currently on there with the last one probably coming eventually.

That said, I'm gonna buy this.

Odnetnin commented on Game Designers Reveal How Super Mario Bros. 3 ...:

"We're sure you've all wondered what Super Mario Bros. 3, one of the best games ever made, would be like on a smartphone. Well, we say wondered it's probably likely if you ever have you've awoken upright with cold sweat streaming from your forehead. Go back to sleep, it's just a nightmare. Or is it?"

This article is dripping with bias. No indication that this was just a suggestion by a random person not associated with Nintendo in the headline; it reads as if this is the only way Super Mario Bros. 3 could work as a free-to-play title.

Related: Retro Game Challenge 2 is really hard to play if you don't know Japanese. Assuming it's still easier to play for an English-only speaker than Ni No Kuni is. Please validate my decision to import RGC2 over Ni No Kuni for that reason, @Bankai.

Odnetnin commented on Scribblenauts Is Doubling Up On Nintendo DS:

As someone who owned then sold the first Scribblenauts and borrowed but never bought the second, this thing is perfect for me.

Anyone who's bought one of these double packs before know how it works - are they both on the same cart?

Edit: The product description says one cart. Neat!
