I'm a Nintendo gamer since 1998 and a lover of all things Zelda. Interested in game coding but not so interested to do it. :) I enjoy playing all sorts of games on all sorts of platforms, I may not be good at all of them but I give it my best shot.

@Boxmonkey No, I actually believe it's Nintendo doing it wrong. Not Sony or Microsoft. They're all trying to be more like PCs, just look at the One and it's multitasking and snap feature, along with recording and screenshot capabilities.

Consoles are becoming more than just for playing games. They're becoming a box under you're TV that can let you surf the internet, play games, watch films/TV, listen to music etc. without having to change to a different device.

Nintendo will always be about games and I like that, they stick to what they're good at and they're very good at making games. It would just be nice if they added in some extra functionality to bulk up the package.

Chris720 commented on Poll: What Do You Want From Nintendo's NX Plat...:

I just wonder, is the NX going to be that "third pillar" like what the DS was when that was released all those years ago? They still kept the GBA going for ages but the DS sold so well that they cut off the GBA line eventually.

Is this going to be a "test run" of sorts to see how it stacks up and whether it gets some good support? And then eventually kill off the WiiU/3DS/both?

To be honest, I'm not all that interested in the NX. To be fair, I don't own a single Nintendo console at all now. Sure they have the best 1st party titles, but when the good ones (like Zelda, Metroid etc.) are usually only 1 per system (or not at all, I'm looking at you F-Zero) with next to no third party support, it's hard to justify £200-£300 on a paper weight. :/

Chris720 commented on Reaction: The Concept of eShop 'Early Access' ...:

Early Access can be a very good model to follow, as long as the developer and publisher are still behind the game 100%. However, some games just aren't worth the Alpha/Beta Early Access, apart from most likely getting it at a cheaper price.

Steam can be horrible for this, but most of the titles that have greenlighted have been phenomenal, especially DayZ. It might have started out as an Arma Mod, but it's turned into, arguably, one of the biggest Early Access titles on Steam.

Nintendo doing this would put them on a whole new level of developer and customer interactions. Especially since Early Access users actually helping to develop the game and shape it from day one. Another problem though is if the developer/publisher backs out, as that can cause a massive backlash on the community. Just hope Nintendo will be ready with refunds and the like before they go into early access.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says...:

@Einherjar That's the problem Ninty have, they're too small in numbers to keep churning out games every year without fail. If they can buy out studios to build their games for them, they'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

Another thing they need to do is preorder bonuses, collectors editions etc. especially for their big name games like Zelda, just to give consumers even more of an incentive to get buying.

They could literally do anything and that's what I find so annoying, they don't seem to think outside their own little bubble. And their E3 stance needs to change, you need to get us hyped, you need to get us engaged with what you're making. I don't care if I don't see it until late 2016, I want to see something of it.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says...:

@coolaggro But they're all franchises nearly everyone enjoys playing. Assassin's Creed for example, just gets better with every game (glitches aside) and I find the gameplay and story quite interesting and a lot of fun. Final Fantasy is just downright good fun, same with Fallout, Tomb Raider, Dark Souls, Elder Scrolls, Halo and Doom.

FIFA, Forza, CoD, Street Fighter etc. are literally the same game every year with very little to no change and based on the same mechanic.

Nintendo could easily do this with their own IPs.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says...:

@Einherjar I couldn't agree with anymore even if I tried. Nintendo have so many established franchises and IPs, they could make a killing off all of them every console iteration. But for some reason... nope, they won't do it.

There's always one Zelda title per console, goodness knows how many Mario games (including spin-offs) and that's about it. What about Star Fox, Metroid, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, Pilotwings, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Punch Out, Animal Crossing, F-Zero and Pokemon. These IPs, which are nowhere to be seen (bar one) on the Wii U would make them an absolute fortune. Also, bring back Mario Strikers! That game was amazing fun.

Chris720 commented on Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems Wi...:

@Ogbert Of course there's more titles on the Wii U than just Mario, but I'm talking about all titles surrounding the Mario franchise or has him included, for example SSB, Yoshi's Yarn etc. The 75% was more of an exaggeration than anything else really. The problem is, the other third party titles don't get much recognition or enough attention because of this. From face value, it looks like a Mario machine because the other titles don't get much spotlight.

@Project_Dolphin The mature titles might not be the sole focus of the console, but numbers don't lie, they're the best selling genre on those 2 platforms. Especially Witcher 3, Advanced Warfare, Shadow of Mordor etc. which won't see the light of day on the Wii U.

I'm not saying the Wii U couldn't run those games, I'm sure it could if the developers put enough time into it to make it work. The problem lies with the install base, also the fact most people who own a Wii U also owns a PS4 or XBone or even a gaming PC.

Chris720 commented on Project CARS Studio Boss Admits to Problems Wi...:

Not exactly the developers fault here, they thought they were going to be able to do it. The problem is the console itself, it's an absolute nightmare to work with unless you put enough people and hours into making it run the best it can, we've heard plenty about this from other developers.

The other factor is the install base, everyone I know either owns a PS4, XBone or a gaming PC. Hardly any of them own a Wii U. They could put as much effort into it to make it run at 30FPS (which is pretty horrible on a racing game these days) at 720P, but the fact of the matter is most consumers would rather buy the superior version that came out months ago.

In the case of NFS: Most Wanted, the "superior" version came out months later, but everyone had already played and finished it by then. It suffered.

The Wii U is a great console on paper, but in reality it's just not a winner. The only thing going for it is first-party titles, and let's be fair, 75% of them are all Mario titles.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Ditches Plans To Create New Hardware ...:

China is not a suitable market area for anything. They make cheap replica's of everything from phones to cars to coffee shops. Why? Because literally everything is made in China in the first place and they don't understand copyright infringement.

Also, I bet you they're already mass producing replica PS4's and One's, or atleast their games. Therefore, Microsoft and Sony have no market.

Chris720 commented on Talking Point: Is Konami About To Exit The Con...:

I don't own a single Konami produced game. Really goes to show how overcrowded the gaming industry has become where even the original talent is being covered over. Hopefully they won't go down, but anything could happen really.

Chris720 commented on Rumour: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Teased For N...:

Honestly, Advanced Warfare missing the Wii U is a blessing. Game is absolute crap, the worst Call of Duty by a mile.

Black Ops 3 looks to be rather interesting though, as long as they don't have the jetpack and exo suits.

Chris720 commented on Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Dow...:

Of course it's dead, there's not much going for it now. The problem was the name, the lack of advertising and most importantly lack of third party support.

You can keep a console afloat on first party titles for so long before it starts crumbling. A console needs games to support itself, if the games are few and far between then the console can't be supported.

Chris720 commented on Gallery: Wii U Owners React to Screenshot Remo...:

@kereke12 Someone saying Disney is more mature than Nintendo? Yeah, I can agree with you there, even Disney throw in a couple "sexual" nudge jokes that no kid would even bat an eyelid to except maybe a parent if they're paying attention.

Nintendo has always been kiddo friendly, problem is this alienates everyone else. If I want to post a screenshot of a game I'm playing I should be able to, why do we have to be restricted because you don't want kids seeing it? Why not restrict access to Miiverse communities that are above their age rating.

Problem is, a kid can still use he Wii U Browser and search for these games on YouTube or wherever and probably find way worse than what is posted on Miiverse.

It's stupid, completely stupid.

Chris720 commented on Poll: Where Do You Stand On DeNA, Smart Device...:

"I'm keen to know more, but feel that Nintendo might have damaged the Wii U's chances by confirming it now" Lol, what? The Wii U was already damaged as soon as release, lack of support means lack of sales. The Wii U was bust from day one. Even to this day some people still think it's a Wii peripheral. They've released most of their trump cards and they've not helped.

It's being lowered into its grave as we speak, Nintendo need a new console... and soon.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo NX Will Be About Creating "Fun New Wa...:

I'm all up for great game play, but it would be nice to have a decent console that can excel in the power and graphical department too. Honestly, Xbox hasn't reinvented their controller, just changed the design and it works brilliantly.

Why do they always have to change up how we play games? The Wiimote was nice, but the Gamepad feels so... Stupid and horribly implemented. With a traditional controller, I know what I'm getting. Just buttons, no gimmicks.

Chris720 commented on Reaction: The Nintendo 'NX', and Why We Think ...:

To be brutally honest here... it was about time they announced something about new hardware. The Wii U is climbing into its grave slowly, SSB and MK8 didn't save it. They're last trump card is Zelda, if that doesn't get it off the shelves, I think that's it.

Unified hardware is a good idea, being able to have a home console and a portable in one, but it also comes with its own problems. The Wii U had a good idea with the Gamepad it's just been horribly utilized for the most part, even by Nintendo.

Also, I hope to the love of god they ditch the "Wii" name all together, that and the 3DS name has caused them nothing but problems with marketing and getting the point across that it's a new console.

They also need to step up their online presence, sort your network out already and make it a fully functional hub. And make our purchases universally tied to an account system, not hardware that can and will be chopped and changed over the years, especially handheld.

About time Nintendo got their act together, it's actually rather embarrassing compared to every other platform on this planet. So archaic and behind the times, seriously... they act like a bunch of technophobes.

Chris720 commented on Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?:

The number gives me a rough idea of how good/bad the reviewer thought of the game. If it's at least 7 or above, then I will read the review so I can then make a judgement on my own terms whether it will be for me or not.

What I would like from the reviews is for them to have a consistent flow. I've seen some reviews delve deeper into certain areas of a game and others not give you enough information on certain aspects. 3DS reviews are pretty bad for this because some tell you what the 3D experience is like and others don't.

Chris720 commented on Video: New Nintendo 3DS In-Depth Review: Episo...:

The New 3DS looks ugly simply because everything is dotted all over the place. Why is the card slot on the bottom now? To incorporate extra space for the new buttons? Stylus is on the bottom? So once that nub starts wearing down (which it will) it'll fall out all the time, cool. The design just looks disgusting.

Roll on the next handheld, hopefully get rid of the dual screens too, can't stand that anymore. :/

Chris720 commented on I'll Take Zelda And Mario Over Sharing Call Of...:

Thing is, people buy Nintendo consoles for the first-party titles. Unfortunately, Nintendo consoles miss out on some pretty stellar games like Skyrim, Metro, Tomb Raider, Red Dead, Alien Isolation, Grand Theft Auto, Titanfall and the list goes on.

You buy an Xbox, PS3 or build a gaming PC for the third-party titles and the few exclusives, or a lot of exclusives on PC that the Wii U may never get.

That's the problem with Nintendo consoles, lack of third-party means lack of diversity. But if you want more diversity, you need another machine.

Chris720 commented on Reaction: Picking Apart The New Nintendo 3DS A...:

So, the 3DS market is now splintered. Devs will certainly be making games using the extra circle pad. I'm glad they brought out a new 3DS, but this should have been standard from day one, or just create a brand new handheld altogether.

Chris720 commented on New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced:

So they've officially fragmented the family. Now devs will be using the second analog control on nearly all of their games... Also that control pad is friggin tiny.

Chris720 commented on Ubisoft Clarifies Reasoning For The Crew Skipp...:

Problem with the "current-gen" of consoles is they aren't wildly more powerful than their predecessors, except for the Wii U ofcourse. I'm in no hurry to upgrade, my 360 is giving me enough enjoyment and my PC is powerful enough to deal with nearly every new release.

And I think developers are realizing this, PS4 is definitely doing very well, but the One and Wii U are doing very poorly. Therefore cut support for the PS3, but support the 360 as it still has a huge install base. No point supporting the Wii U as it's still classified as that little kiddies toy in the corner, even though it's not.

Chris720 commented on Review: 2048 (3DS eShop):

No need for me as I can play it free on my phone. But if you don't have either a phone or tablet, and to be honest I think most of us do, get this. Definitely a fun little game once you get the knack of it, which I haven't.

Chris720 commented on E3 2014: Zelda Wii U Looks So Great You Really...:

@Kirk Uhm, in that case Skyward Sword was also backwards. Ninty tried a new look after Wind Walker with TV and then they went back to the WW-esque style in St and again with this one.

I don't understand why having a grittier and darker look is such a bad thing for Zelda. Yeah sure it's suppose to be light hearted, but having some dark undertones makes it more interesting and I felt To captured that quite well.

Chris720 commented on Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wi...:

@sdcazares1980 Agreed. Even Sony took the best route and left the Move out of it and left it as an optional extra for everyone. Microsoft have given up and U-turned so many times with the One it's getting ridiculous.

At least Nintendo can ride the gimmick train and get away with it, but not this time.

Chris720 commented on Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wi...:

@JGer Okay, you're right there... it sounded better in my head. But it's the only thing that separates itself from Playstation and Xbox, that's what I was trying to get at.

@sdcazares1980 Yeah, that's what I meant. The early adopters have practically been left with a bulky plastic box that has now more or less become redundant.

Chris720 commented on Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wi...:

@sdcazares1980 That's the problem, they drop the Gamepad now it will splinter the userbase, like the Kinect will do. They'll have this large lump of plastic that will become redundant because no one will use it. Why? Because who wants to target a margin of the userbase, when they can target everyone?

The upside to this is, more people will buy the Wii U because, hey, cheaper, no gimmicks, free online, Nintendo games, HD. Done.

Chris720 commented on Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wi...:

Will getting rid of the Gamepad help the Wii U? Well... no. That is its main selling point, beyond that it's just a Playstation or Xbox.

But should they actually ditch it? We've found gimmicks really don't stick in the gaming community, the 3DS worked really well, now hardly anyone I know uses 3D anymore. Everyone has lost interest in Kinect, even Microsoft. Playstations Move still isn't a big thing and they left it as that, an additional bit to put on.

And that's all the Gamepad really is, a massive gimmick. Beyond a massive slab of a screen in the middle, it's just any normal controller that hardly any dev uses properly anyway... I see no point keeping it, but if they get rid of it, its just like any other console.

Chris720 commented on App Supporting 3DS Tethering With Mobile Confi...:

@rylo151 That would still be around 100-250MB... I think? Which isn't all that bad, but I still wouldn't advise it really... Downloading games will of course kill your data pretty quickly considering most games on the 3DS are at least 500MB onwards, not to mention the download speeds on 3G would be horrendous anyway.

Chris720 commented on App Supporting 3DS Tethering With Mobile Confi...:

I'm sorry, but this will just eat through your data like a monster with a bottomless pit for a stomach. The constant upload and download from the 3DS while playing games will gobble through a GB of data easy.

The only network I could see this working on is EE/Orange with unlimited Data, which is still capped to about 50GB or something, with a 4G network which is only in the major cities in the UK at the moment.

This is a horrible idea.

Chris720 commented on Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Wii U):

@MussakkuLaden Surely they can't have any entire company developing one game, that's just idiotic. If that is the case, good grief, how far, Treyarch have fallen.

I personally found the swinging on Wii kind of fun having to flick your wrist to launch a web... Thinking about it now after all these years... Maybe it was kind of awful, but it felt fun at the time.

Chris720 commented on Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Wii U):

Why didn't they rope Treyarch back in to do the Amazing Spiderman games? They did the original three perfectly. Sure, the first one was just mediocre missions, but they really stepped up their game with 2 with an open world to swing around and missions you could jump straight into. 3 was also a really good game, especially the swinging on the Wii version, that was proper fun.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Looking To "Harvest" 3DS Success To A...:

If they don't sort it out now the Wii U is going to be dead and buried before long. Hopefully MK8 and SSB will help it out but I really don't see it making much of an impact... They should have tried to push MK8 out as quickly as possible, after all that is usually their saving grace. It definitely was with the 3DS anyway.

Hopefully the 3DS can push the Wii U up a bit and build some kind of momentum... If they don't do it this year or next, I think it's safe to say the Wii U is gone.

Chris720 commented on Cult County Kickstarter Ends Without Success, ...:

Not surprised, not many people like backing a small indie developer with a request for half a million dollars... Maybe they should just contact Nintendo and see if they can have it be exclusive for the Wii U and 3DS.

They could easily make it like how MH3U works, play one version on the Wii U, move your data over to the 3DS version and continue play where you left off.

Or have two completely different versions to target different audiences, 3DS version could be more run and gun for the younger ones and the Wii U could be more horror intensified.

They have plenty of options at their disposal. But I think they were being bit naive asking for $580,000... that's just crazy.

Chris720 commented on Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes...:

"Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii"

Who gives a damn about the Wii any more? That thing needs to be put to bed already, its outdated and has been replaced, why that is even in the title is beyond me.

But on the bright side, the Wii U finally has another game... took long enough.
