Topic: Cave Story 3DS on June 28th!

Nicalis and NIS America are giving Cave Story a full remake for the Nintendo 3DS. This version of Cave Story is still a platformer, but the game uses 3D models instead of sprites. I played a tiny bit of it and it was just like Cave Story 2.5D.

When NIS America announced Cave Story 3D, they said the title was on track to be a "launch window" game. We honed in on the date and Cave Story 3D is scheduled to be in stores on June 28.

In addition to 3D graphics, producer Tyrone Rodriguez and creator Daisuke Amaya mentioned to Siliconera in an interview there will be new elements in this version of Cave Story. Amaya pointed out new and old music and Rodriguez said there would be elements from the unreleased Cave Story beta.

Some new content and 3D graphics, obviously. Isn't Zelda also scheduled for a June release? That is going to be one expensive month.

Wow, now my wallet is even going to be MORE pushed in June. So far, I am seeing possibly Ocarina of Time 3D, Resident Evil: Mercanaries, Cubic Ninja, and THIS being released in June.

I got alot on my plate currently, as far as what i'm looking forward too, we'll see what happens.

Excellent. This is exactly what I wanted for the 3DS.

To be able to play remakes of DSiWare games that are remakes of PC games that are available for free.

As much as I love Cave Story, I think I'll pass. I have way too many other games I need to get.

Now that I've played a 3DS my desire for this has skyrocketed. I think the 3D effect will make 2D platformers even that more amazing.

It might be fun to play but I already own Cave Story so...
Also, $40 would be an awful lot to pay considering the alternatives.

it's looking better than the first shots released. still not sure if i like the concept of it though.

After seeing the screen shots in Nintendo Power I didn't want to get this game it looked like they had ruined it. Now...June is going to KILL my wallet. These look so much better than the ones in NP.

yeah, they made sure to put "game under development" in there this time. they must have seen the reaction the primitive nintendo power shots got.

Those screenshots look nice. I know it's still under development, but Nicalis, if you're stalking these forums, you might want to upgrade the gagues in the upper left corner. Just doesn't really mesh with the rest of the game now.

They should have gone with a cel-shade look, like WindWaker.
