Eat your heart out America and Europe.

In the first ever Nintendo Direct for Australia, it was announced Australia is getting the New 3DS November 21st. Australia will be the only region in the western world that will receive the New 3DS in 2014.

And can you go a little faster?!

That was some exciting and unexpected news, now to start saving money.

That's great! I hope the release dates for the other regions get announced soon too.

No, south.

But Australia is considered "western" (by American people) since people there speak English. Unlike in Japan.

Also Australia is EU region (for Nintendo) so... Import!

So France is Eastern?

It's about time that Nintendo remembered that we exist.

Haha how to detect as many pedants as possible: call Australia "western"

(Just to be a hypocrite: Yes I agree australia is western. It's closest cultural relative is Britain. The fact that "western" doesn't actually mean west geographically is just because language never follows logic. France is generally considered more a part of "the western world" than Brazil is.)

Anything is cheaper compared to buying locally in New Zealand.

Western world: places were people speak English, European Union.

But ofcourse, this is really shallow minded. And would make Europe "central", Asia "Eastern" and the America's "Western". Because Europe is historically the center of the world. Sad, but true.

In fact. The world is round, and if you go west long enough you'll eventually end up in Asia.

You can't just make up your own definition for words.

Well you can, but you'd be wrong. The 'west' is a term that predates the Americas entirely. Europe is the west. It's a cultural thing, not a language thing.

Hahahahahahaha. Thank you oh mighty guru. And for the next lesson: basic multiplication.

Australia you say?
IMPORT IMPORT IMPORT!!!!
Edit: Just found out that AUS$220 is only £120. Delivery from Australia will cost a bomb but the ultimate price can't be much more than a regular 3DS from home.
Australia uses the same eShop (which I can set to UK, I think. I set my store to Australia once for the lolz) and the same games. Does anyone know of any repercussions of importing?

Nice to see some love for Autralia anyway

/tableflip time to go find a job again... To be fair though I wouldn't mind Australia being the test market better than being the lag market or the skip market at least

Also honestly how did this turn into a discussion on Eastern/Western culture?

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Someone would've created the words to begin with. Columbus believed that world was round, so he sailed to the wast and he thought he would end up in the east (India). This is how he discovered America.

Ok, this is getting waaaay off topic, but...

By Columbus's time, everyone already knew the world was round. They had for thousands of years. The Ancient Greek mathematicians like Pythagoras were doing calculations on the circumference of the Earth in the 6th Century BC. If you were in Europe in 1492 and thought the world was flat, you were either really, really dumb or the medieval equivalent of a moon landing denier (ok, so really, really dumb).

Columbus wasn't some nutjob who wanted to prove to everyone that the world was round. The Spanish government would never have given him funding if they didn't believe the world was round. Columbus was searching for alternative trade routes. Portugal had dominance along the African coast and in the Indian Ocean, so Spain was looking to establish a trade route with Asia by traveling west.

I would have maybe imported if I didn't need to have it fixed by Nintendo last time in the first three months.

I wonder how much it would cost to have delivered to the UK seeing as the New XL works out to £135 which is cheaper than they are priced now for the old ones.
