@ThomasBW84: Oh, yeah, I wouldn't blame you for the error. I was fooled just as well as every major gaming media outlet that reported on the story, and Reuters is absolutely the one at fault here. I too agree with your point about investors showing general disinterest in the press conference.
Hrm, perhaps you guys hadn't heard, but after Reuters posted that story, it was determined by some astute readers that they had it wrong. Closer inspection of the chart revealed that the 5% drop occurred before the press conference! It was chalked up to market fluctuation, and has apparently since recovered.
There is a pretty good chance of this getting localized by NoA — DQIX did pretty damn well here if I recall, and Nintendo marketed the hell out of that. Remember when all Reggie would talk about was how he was playing DQIX? Yeah, it would surprise me if Nintendo doesn't publish this in the US.
If the pre-order soundtrack offer for SAGA were available in Canada, then that would be the easy choice. But since it's not, I'm having a tough time deciding. Argh.
The hell? Can't believe so many people are hating on this game. It may well be my favourite of all-time. And I do NOT say that lightly.
It's the perfect length. If you run through it, then it's a solid 15-20 hours, and if you try to get all the secrets, easily another 5 or more. I don't know why people think games should be 50 hours long; nobody has that much time except for kids during the summer. I'm not saying 50 hour games are bad, per se, but no game needs to be that long to be a fulfilling experience. And if it doesn't continually have payoffs to keep the action fresh, even the best of titles can start to become a slog. Super Mario RPG is rife with fresh ideas, beautiful environments, ridiculously fun gameplay, and it holds up as well as anything I've ever seen. I could easily jump right back in today and have the time of my life over the weekend. In fact, I just might!
No one is doubting the splendor of FFVI, Chrono Trigger, et al. as they are all wonderful in their own right. However, there is simply no reason why all of these games cannot together be recognized as the classics that they are. 10/10 across the board!
OOOOOOOOOoooooooooooh Gargoyle's Quest looks awesome! I'll wait for the review, but this seems to be a sure thing
It's so sad how ignorant I am regarding the Game Boy library; pretty much the only games I ever had for it were Super Mario Land 2 and the three Pokemon titles... gah! VC is a dream.
I was contemplating getting this on Steam a while back, having resigned to the unlikelihood of the WiiWare release ever happening. Glad I didn't act on that, because I'd much rather play the game on the 3DS. Excited.
Call me a cynic, but I feel like they're using this title as a gimmick to compensate for what is otherwise a rather sub-par game. Of course, I will reserve judgment till I actually see it...
Some retailers in Canada have dropped the price of the 3DS to $200 in anticipation of the price cut--- I would strongly suggest anyone purchase one at $200 and claim their free games, because getting all that great stuff for a $30 premium is easily worth it!
I'm more than willing to fork over a few bucks for a portable version of Pac-Man Championship Edition... but not for $40. It'd be nice if Namco stuck it on the eShop.
@Number_6 (29): I have the messenger bag! It's very good. Pretty standard fare for a bag of that sort, but it's well-made and absolutely functional. I actually use it quite often. 550 coins is on the high side, which I'd suppose is the only real downside.
WiiWare has a few gems, for sure, but obviously it's not on the same level as its competing services. Nevertheless, Bit.Trip, World of Goo, Lost Winds, Fluidity... these are great games, and worth checking out. I get the feeling a lot of people have this mindset where they completely shun the service just because it's lacking in some respects. That is an unwise choice, in my opinion, since they are missing out on a select handful of fantastic, unique titles.
Holy crap, 3D Xevious MY LIFE IS COMPLETE GUYS. I just wish it were $20 instead of $6 so I could give Nintendo more money because I have so much money and I love giving it to Nintendo when they give me games like Xevious... IN 3D!!!!!!!! ... :/
