Hot on the heels of Nintendo's 18th November announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's European release comes the North American date: just two days later on 20th November.
You can now pre-order the game and read more about it below in the full press release.
Nintendo’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda™ series continues in full force with the announcement that The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword will launch in North America on Nov. 20. The epic adventure, created from the ground up for the Wii™ console, sends this storied series to new heights and marks a turning point for the franchise.
The game uses the precision motion controls of the Wii Remote™ Plus (or a Wii Remote controller with a Wii MotionPlus™ accessory) and Nunchuk™ controllers to map on-screen action to the player’s movements. When a player swings the Wii Remote Plus controller, Link™ appears to swing his sword in exactly the same way.
Different enemies have different battle tactics, so players must analyze their approach and develop counterattacks that play on the enemies’ weaknesses. The game’s wide array of items also use full motion controls, letting players roll bombs, shoot arrows and guide flying objects like never before.
The game includes a massive, multilayered world that takes players from dark dungeons to a diverse overworld to cloud cities in the sky, requiring a combination of puzzle-solving and swordplay to unlock all of its secrets. Link soars through the air on the wings of a majestic bird while exploring the game’s sky area, providing players with unprecedented freedom of movement as they progress on their adventure. The quest lays the foundation for the events in The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™, which is frequently cited as one of the greatest video games of all time.
“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the biggest game in the series yet,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’ve just scratched the surface of this massive experience, and we look forward to sharing additional details with fans as we approach the Nov. 20 launch.”
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is now available for pre-order at major retailers throughout North America. A deposit may be required for pre-orders. See individual retailers for details. For more information about the game, visit http://www.zelda.com/skywardsword/.

Finally! Guess I'll really have something to be thankfull for.
Let's hope this has less haters than Twilight Princess did.
Meh. I am going to wait for reviews. This looks worse than Twilight Princess. You fly around on birds and bowl ffs.
I might get this....
still no word on that gold wiimote plus???
My reaction to this:
[youtube:P3ALwKeSEYs]
I remember when this was first reveled at E3 2009 and we thought this would be coming out in the summer 2010...
THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER!
I don't have a Wii Wimote Plus. This "Special Edition" better get some details soon. Other than that, Heck Yeah, I'm excited. It's Zelda, Baby!!
HALLIYOUYER!
Finally. Doesn't change the fact that 2011 was god awful for NA Wii gamers.
Finally! Now just waiting on Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land's official dates.
2011 is godawful for all Wii owners, especially the first 6 months.
Can't believe some people aren't excited about this, it looks way more magical than Twilight Princess.
Can't wait until November 20th. I can get it the day it comes out.
I hope I get this on my Birthday.
Exciting news!
Wow, Good thing my birthday is in Nov. Skyward Sword and Skyrim are must buys for me.

@Link79 There's going to be haters of every game
Gonna get this likewise.
I can't wait to get this!
I want to pre-order. But I'm waiting for the Limited edition to finally be announced.
man all those mexican people get it on a holiday
Awesome! I'll be playing this as I munch on turkey!
Dang, was hoping this would come out closer to Christmas so I wouldn't have to hear about how awesome it is while everyone plays it. The Wii maybe be going out with a sad, pathetic whimper, but at least it has Skyward Sword to bury it.
Also main Zelda and Mario entries in one month, whaaaa???
Awesome, and just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
Similar to Thanksgiving 06 where I played Twilight Princess, and I think TP came out on the 19th or something like that in 2006, so finally 5 years to the almost day we get a true Zelda game for the Wii, since TP was a Gamecube game.
@bonesy91
I 'm on the same boat, was waiting for the gold wiimote + to be announced, but dude at gamestop said I could always upgrade the reservation when they announce it.
just remeber buy it before black friday
I already had a $10 deposit on it. I'll be sure to save $40 to buy it on release
ohgod,ohgod,ohgod,ohgod,ohgod
it fell from heaven or a plane
Wait, "The next epic Wii game"? This post is about America, so I assume you're talking about...Donkey Kong? I guess that was epic.
I'll wait for the reviews. The meterosexual look of Link, the androgynous bad guy, and a more masculine than Link, Zelda really rubs me the wrong way.
I preordered it, but I dunno about the golden wiiremote+ Thank god it comes out sooner than december, I'm gonna be stuck with finals in december, so i got a good month to play this an Super Mario 3D Land.
Was there some sort of official statement about a golden wiimote+? Is it supposed to be a preorder bonus? Or is this all wishful thinking.
I don't know what all the complaining about the look is about. It's like you guys haven't played any zelda games before. There have been quirky over the top designed characters in EVERY Zelda game. Every single one. Zelda and Link were never off limits for quirkiness, either. What most consider the best of the series, Ocarina of Time, is filled to the brim with oddness. It's part of what makes the series fun for many fans. If you enjoyed playing through a previous Zelda game, you MUST have come across the quirkiness before. Still we see people balk at it each time a new Zelda game shows its colors.
Of course, here I am acting like I'm not on the internet where haters hate and whiners whine. Hmm... not sure why I wrote this now. lol.
HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have already requested that day off from work. O the tears of joy!
Europe gets it before us NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
But seriously, I'm glad were getting it this year.
Nice. Too bad I don't have my Wii anymore. Well, sacrifices had to be made if I wanted all the good 3DS games.
Can't wait for this one! Twilight princess for some reason wasn't up to my standard. I just like oot better and wind waker as well. With that said the more I see of this game the more excited I'm getting. It feels like a blend of the best of final fantasy and Zelda mixed together for the first time. I want big populated cities with plenty of stuff to do in each city! Could be the best Zelda ever if they do his right! Happy happy joy joy!!
my local fred meyer said it was coming out that day!
Awesome, it looks like I will actually be purchasing a Wii game this year after all.
Purchased. (mentally anyway...)
@Link79
Maybe you should be hoping they just make a better game this time? It's not like Twilight Princess was bad, but the reception it got was well deserved. It's easily the weakest of all the main Zelda games.
I've got high hopes for this one though.
November 20th!? I want it right NOW!!!
Off topic:
El día de la Revolucón.
They're releasing it on a Sunday? Kinda odd don't you think?
Hmmmm I am having a hard time should I buy this than or ask for it for Christmas lol. Any word of a collectors edition kinda like how the NES Zeldas were gold?
I like twilight princess alot ... Ocarina of time still my favirite.... I hope skyward sword is just as good...
I was going to preorder but I'm waiting on info of some sort of collector's edition to be announced.
Still very exciting to have an official release date announced!
Now just for info on the limited edition. I'm now going to hide away from my family on Thanksgiving, only to emerge for turkey, but then to slink back into the game without so much of a word to them.
day after my birthday!!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or does the graphics look like mud???
OMFG, I can't wait for this game!
Not too long after EU release. Still wishing I had the console to play this on, though.
I have never bought a Wii game within a week of its release.
I plan for that to change with this game.
I was gonna release my Christmas list early to my fam anyway, so this is good news.
YES
TWO DAYS AFTER EU, IN YOUR FACES!
(ps: i am a petty man)
I am going to wait for reveiws so I will know if it's worth it.If its like TP then I'll buy
I wonder how long before this reaches the $19.99 price point since the Wii will be dead a year after it's release? Less than the 4 it took Twilight Princess? I'm still holding out for a WiiU HD version, that big ole spider just looked so purty. And I'ld rather play with the Upad than Motion Plus. Wishful thinking I know, but it's been 5 years since TP, I can hold off 1 more year for hope.
Wait 4 reviews!! U CRAZY!?!!?!!!!???!!11!
