I have 6 pairs of joycons, and it is frustrating, how unreliable these are. Drifting, disconections, nonfunctional buttons, LEDs not working, motion controls malfunctions... I can repair most of the problems myself, but I will not buy another Nintendo product after this experience.
@StevenG yes it is easy, but you have to buy all those faulty parts (joysticks, motherboards, flex cables, buttons etc.) and silly nintendo screwdrivers...
I own 12 joycons (6 pairs) . I had to reclaim 6 out of 12, all reclaims were successful !!!
It was not just joystick drifting, but also faulty buttons, faulty motion controls, LEDs etc. Some were day one problem, faulty out of the box !!!
I bought 5 NSW so far (big family), 2 out of 5 are broken, one had BSOD (probably burned chip M92T36), another had yellow horizontal lines on LCD screen...
Update from 02/14/2020 CD Projekt Red has given the all-clear for GamePro.de regarding the update for the switch version of The Witcher 3. This was "not canceled" and would "appear promptly".
I believe I am pretty loyal Nintendo customer (2xWii, 2xWiiU, 3xDS, 8x3DS, 3xSwitch) BUT I have enough, out of 3 Switches I bought only one still works fine. First one BSOD, second yellow lines on LCD screen, plus joycons drifting... I can fix electronics myself, no problem, but I didn't buy consoles to repair them. By the way all the rest of my Nintendo gear works fine!
This is journalism? Nobody in nintendolife is able to take this faulty joystick apart? I did. I can just confirm that drift is real and it is caused by scratched graphite layer, simple mechanical damage. I can send you pictures if you want. There is a lot of problems with fragile flex cables too. Sorry, but it is poor design, nothing else.
Absolutely amazing game, but there is still a lot of room for better performance. It can run 60 FPS, you can turn of AA etc. I hope CD Projekt will bring us update one day.
what a lame excuse, I own many different controllers from logitech to xbox, gamecube, wii, wii u, 3ds bla bla and never had any issue except joycon... I already had to change analog joysticks in 3 pairs
I own 3 sets of joy cons, all drift after 2 years, very poor design. I am able to replace those joysticks, of course, but why the hell should I as a customer fix Nintendos poor quality products?
I didn't care about drift until one day I played Breath of the Wild and Link just walked by himself... At that moment I realised it is not a rumour. Switch is multi milion euro industry and company is unable (or unwilling) to fix a defective joystick? Ridiculous. This is not rocket science, this is simple mechanical piece of hardware worth 3 euro.
@Zeldafan79
I tried isopropylalcohol spray contact cleaner and it solved my drift problem. I did not take joy con apart!!!
I just simply tried to spray alcohol into joystick from above and then leave it to dry... It worked for me. And to my big surprise joycons are not damaged by this approach, they still work properly, and drifting is gone...
I play Zelda Link's Awakening right now, performance is terrible, so perhaps when I hack my switch I can run CPU at 1785MHz and GPU at 921MHz... and play Zelda without frame drops
oh yeah, there is plenty of upgrades to be done on these... I already had to change analogue joysticks because of "joycon drift", SL/SR flat ribbon flex cable, plastic locks
@Gerald you are right, you can still pay by credit cards on nintendo switch eshop in Europe, how is it possible, if new EU "psd2" legislation was the reason to forbid CC payments on wiiu and 3DS ? Does PSD2 not apply to switch?
@koekiemonster you can not run original 3DS games on Switch of course, but there are many ports (steam world dig 1&2, sw heist, cave story, VVVVVV, gunman clive, donkey kong, bla bla)
It is still possible to buy unused (both old and new versions) 3ds in some stores but for price from 300 to 500 USD. Nintendo Switch library is already 2300 games, compared to 1300 games on 3DS/2DS. You can see many 3DS games on Switch. 3DS/2DS is easy to hack, they will end 2DS production soon.
Plenty of malfunctions on Switch in 2 years, but NO malfunctions on my 15 other nintendo consoles so far (3 Wii, 2 WiiU, 2 DS, 8 3DS). Sorry but Switch is the least reliable nintendo product ever.
My first Switch got BSOD, no third party dock, no hacking. Then my second and third switch developed joycon drift... plus I had to change antena position for disconections, ZR/ZL+LED flex cabel not working, and plastic locks don't work properly too... Unbelievable.

like this game or not, it runs well on switch, just steady 30 FPS, but nice
Re: Nintendo's Request To Dismiss Joy-Con Drift Lawsuit Gets Rejected
@Bondson
believe me it only works for limited time, in the end you have to change faulty joystick itself, it is easy when you know how

I believe this is perfect marketing strategy, one day they will sell us "improved joycon 2.0"

@bluesun they can download it from korean e-shop to verify if it is true
Re: Saber Interactive Removes All References From Social Media About Its Next Witcher 3 Update
Nintendolife: in South Korea "reportedly" there is an update to Version 3.6
It must be so difficult to check if this is true! Why don't you just simply create korean account and start Witcher game to verify...

it can not be impossible to make joysticks with translucent casing (e. g. on 3D printer) so one could see inside what is really happening during drift
