Re: Soapbox: When It Comes To Software Support, The Grass Isn't Always Greener

ueI

Is there seriously a Minecraft: Xbox One Edition?
I agree that 1st party titles are the most important, as they are the only ones guaranteed not to be ported. Remember how many 3rd party exclusives the XBox 360 and Gamecube had? Remember how many of them stayed exclusive? But the Gamecube still offered dozens of Nintendo's own games.

Re: Soapbox: Retail Games Cost Too Much To Download From The eShop

ueI

None of the games I want are cheaper at retail, but I agree that download prices are too expensive. Even eshop exclusives are priced similarly to retail games. I don't expect many downloads of Shin Megami Tensei IV, a game that costs $10 more than any other 3DS title and comes without the retail version's music CD and guidebook.

Re: Feature: When it Comes to Games, What's in a Name?

ueI

I think I would have called the remake Star Fox: Lylat Wars.
Biohazard is the better name.
Everything related to 3DS has a different name in U.S. and U.K, and it's annoying. I think I've also complained about the needless differences in Mario Kart Wii and 7.
No mention of Professor Layton? We in North America get the worst names for all his games, except Unwound Future. It must be the tradeoff for Europe's lame box art.

Re: Soapbox: Why We Should Expect More From The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

ueI

Although some of your complaints-mainly the MIDI-seem like you're clutching at straws, I ultimately agree that this is a lazy remake. I believe this may be the 1st Zelda remake to include no new content over the original. The cut dungeons would be the most obvious inclusions, and Nintendo's reasoning in this regard is poor. What difference does it make if the dungeons are nothing new when this entire game is nothing new?
In spite of all this, I agree with the decision to remake the Wind Waker. The original isn't playable on the WiiU, making this a great opportunity for those who missed out 10 years ago.

Re: Soapbox: Why Region Locking Is A Total Non-Issue

ueI

I agree that the sudden concern over region locking is strange, but I'm in favor of region freedom. The best arguments have already been used, but I have one criticism left regarding your "region freedom hurts sales" argument. You say you used to import all the time. Do you really think publishers cared less about sales back then?

Re: Super Mario 3D World Coming To Wii U This December

ueI

I didn't like Super Mario 3D Land, but a sequel is only to be expected. Why did it take this long to bring back 4 unique characters? I would have loved it in NSMBW/NSMBU!
Ditto on "I thought this was a 3DS game because it's called 3D."

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Should Aim to Produce Mature, Genre-Defining Storytelling Experiences

ueI

Honestly, we can't effectively debate this because none of us have played The Last of Us.
Personally, I have trouble believing The Last of Us "sets a standard," is "a game changer in what the medium can deliver in terms of narrative," or is otherwise the greatest game of the generation when almost a dozen games this generation claim to have done that. The Last of Us isn't even the first game this year to receive this kind of praise!
@Yorumi The funny thing is that Etrian Odyssey does what you're describing, and people say the series has crap stories.
