Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Switch OLED Rumour Resurfaces Online

@johnvboy honestly after you saying mhrise devs dont know how to optimise i cant really take anything you say seriously, nintendo themselves couldnt get their launch title that spent 10 years in development to run smoothly on the thing, how is a new game supposed to run if its already struggling not to crash the switch at 30 fps and 720p? rise with settings on ultra high runs at 120 on ps5, fanboy

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Switch OLED Rumour Resurfaces Online

thefoxystoat

@johnvboy its cutting edge because its the newest nintendo console, thats not a matter of perspective. it has the price of a cutting edge console thats for damn sure

and when I say customers wishes I mean everyone, how well has the oled been selling? and how many more would it sell if it had better hardware, ran games better and smoother, i for one know about 10 people including myself that would pre order that the second they reveal it

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Switch OLED Rumour Resurfaces Online

@johnvboy i honestly dont even know what point you are trying to make, i have a ps5 but im still angry when my £300 cutting edge gaming console doesnt run games as well as my xbox 360, which is 20 year old tech if not older. and the switch has exclusive so when they're on terrible hardware they are stuck there.

and if nintendo continues to go directly against customers best wishes, well, its been a good run.

preformance effects a lot more than aesthetics, it effects input delay , input timing is video gaming in a nutshell, if your inputs arent put in when you in put them, its literally failing at being a video game, and is just laggy software.
my point is even if plebs think their sub 20fps gameplay is fine, there will me an infinitely large pile of mistakes and errors that pile up that frustrate the player, if they don't recognise their inputs not being read they may just blame themselves or think its something about the game, coming from someone that has played tens of hundreds of hours of games like skyrim and fallout at sub 30 fps then playing the same game at 60fps, you cant not notice failed inputs and screen tearing

@johnvboy exactly, it was pushed to the breaking point in botw, the launch title. over 6 years out of date, whether fanboys like it or not the switch is competing with the ps5, xbox x and pc, and every game ive played apart from oddessy, mario kart or botw runs at sub 30 fps dipping below 720p. how is that developers fault when even a ps4 could display 1080p 30fps? that is 10 year old tech, the industry is there, nintendo is so far behind .

how can devs improve preformance when it's already at 720p 30fps? they have nothing to compromise , on ps5 you can say 4k or 120fps, that seems fair to me, nitendo cant offer 1080p or even a stable 30fps

Re: Game Freak Confirms Pokémon Legends: Arceus Started Development Before Sword & Shield's Launch

i honestly dont believe them, developers say all the time stuff like ' we began working on skyrim as soon as we shipped fallout 3 ' etc, i have no doubt in my mind that 99% of staff were not working on pokemon games after the release of the last, maybe one artist was doodling cocept art on toilet paper but thers no way in hell these games get any more than a years development time

Re: Yooka-Laylee Developer Playtonic Warns Of 'Lil Gator Game' Scam

@Yosher 'criminal activities' what like being gay? what are or arent 'criminal activities' is decided based not on morals but on who is in power.
if people don't look in to something and then get ***** out of money, survival of the fittest , if these tricks didnt work people wouldnt use them, and if there is a trick someone can do to make money, if they need food/shelter ur gna have a hard time convcing them to not use a method that works , you could just as easily say someone that parts with their money without knowing what its for deserves to get scammed, its the real world and a slap on the back of the wrist isnt going to stop scamming as a whole

I love them all but heist has the most potential imo, you can do a lot more with a turn based tactical shooter than a 2d mining game or a card based rpg, honestly I feel I've seen everything cool that can be done with those restrictions in dig 1/2 and quest. there is so much variety in weapons, player skills/abilities, combat arenas. it also feels right to me that heist would be next since its the latest one chronologically in canon.

Re: Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

@Ralizah worlds frame rate was fine for me , i played on pro with frame rate mode on mind you. in a game where you need to react to things around you, 30 just feels sludgey. and 4u came out in 2013, the same year as bioshock infinite , which ran at 30 on 360 and ps3. and oh yeah, 4u was on a hand held, and again i played it on a new 3ds , i had no frame rate issues. but also, that was 8 years ago, my standards are considerably higher for a new 'exclusive' monster hunter game in 2021 especially after world knocked it out of the park in terms of selling the maps as actual ecosystems, the rise demo honestly made me sad just seeing the old style of maps, nothing happening, a big dead world. no wonder the main selling point is the dog that lets you cut out the traversal, still after all my time in world i still enjoy walking around the maps they feel so vibrant

Re: Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

thefoxystoat

from someone who has played hundreds of hours of 3, 4u, Gu and about 800 hours on world, i will not be buying or playing rise, the frame rate in the demo was just unplayale for me. there is an interesting game under the muddy resolution and appauling frame rate, but I wo't be paying for the privelage. really smart of them to announce the pc port before the switch version is out, the only reason i can image for that is how badly it ran was too great of an issue so they had to re assure people that one day, it might not be so unplayable

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Focus On Younger Players Is A Positive, Not A Negative

thefoxystoat

I think it's smarter to appeal to both, like looney toons or old nintendo games. Rather than modern pokemon games with the handholding and never challenging the player. kids like to be challenged too, and 99% of the time I see complaints about games being too kid focused it's because the dumbing down has effected a core mechanic of a game, when really it could of just been a hidden option for those that struggle, rather than, oh idk, forcing an exp share to be on all the time

Re: Gallery: Here's Your First Look At The Outer Worlds On Switch

thefoxystoat

@ozwally i meant dont buy the switch version if you already have the ps4 version, i have a pro as well and the game is hardly action packed but there were multiple points i had heavy, heavy stutters. teh first world is fine but once you're on monarch the game really slows down, id say monarch is where it seems to start getting interesting but its one of the more open and empty areas in the game tbh, i found the really small map size kept intterupting my curiousity and the gun play/feel was really really weak, and the companions have no real care about you actions, compared to new vegas where boone open fires on embers of ceasars legion. I think the outer worlds had a lot of potential but speaking as someone who has all the trophies, they bit off more than they could (or could be bothered to) chew, every planet ends with you choosing between 2 faction leaders and there are only 2 and a hald planets if you could a space station as half. scylla doesnt even count as a quarter imo. and then theres the actual gameplay mecahnics, the special system doesnt work, the game can be beaten on supernova using only the leader skill without firing a shot and theres about 5 different guns in the whole game, that cant be trule modded. ultra light fallout ish game that doesnt even take about 30 hours to 100%, honestly i find it hard to believe these are the same people that made new vegas in a year.

Re: Gallery: Here's Your First Look At The Outer Worlds On Switch

thefoxystoat

they probably saw how many copies sold on ps4/xbox and sold hardly any physical copies and mostly did digital, then theres how much they lost from the trade in market. obsidian may have been bought by microsoft but they're not just going to throw money down the drain with physical releases with a game that kind of flopped and has most likley been played on other platforms by any one who actually cares about this game. he skyrim on switch effect of 'you've played it better somewhere else or youve never heard of it'

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Explores Zelda: Link's Awakening's Technical Wins And Losses

thefoxystoat

the frame rate problems are a big issue, I hope it's the kind of thing that can be fixed with a patch. moving from one screen to the other also causes significant slow down , I'd say way worse than 30fps, probably nearer 20 maybe lower but just for a second or two. what I find so jarring about it is that it's going from 60 to these lows so its really noticable and you really feel it, a 30 fps game dropping to 20 doesnt interrupt gameplay/immersion nearly as bad imo. great game apart from that, even with all the pros and cons I wouldn't really put it any higher than like a 6 or 7 out of 10
