@tseliot programmers aren’t in the IT world, unless you define the IT world as encompassing anything related to computers. IT is more like OPs, programming usually is in the engineering department/ chain.
it is definitely a stupid argument though, it seems as if someone just wants to be able to write the words on their resume. also, to your point of developer not being owned by programmers, my current title includes the word “architect” yet i still just write software.
Too bad cloud and cross platform saves still aren’t a thing, how are they planning that fallout once people start upgrading their platform and lose their character?
@Creature You should know this depends exactly on the unsigned code. Some random homebrew then you have your point. Steal a game you don’t own, even with some twisted @Damo logic about already giving Nintendo a lot of money, and then running that, that would be legal? Nope.
Network instability? That’s interesting, networks are unstable in general and you’re supposed to write code with this in mind (this is why offline app syncing is a thing used heavily these days). It’s also pretty easy to setup auto scaling and health checks to have your cluster self resolve. First delay because of covid, now network troubles. Interesting
@bigboss313 One thing you should understand is that EA is not doing this out of the love for switch players, they’re doing it because the switch sales numbers have gotten their attention. Then, they are required by law to increase profits so therefore we end up with EA IP on switch. EA didn’t wake up one day and say “Let’s show switch some love, cause now suddenly we like them”, they did it because they looked at a platform sales numbers chart. Either way, you’re right in that we do finally get EA IP on switch.
@Quix You’re not making any sense and running around insulting people. (Mods where are you now? you’re were quick to jump on me yet someone calling another stupid is ok?) Where did I say all (context is unclear, what all?), you’ve yet to refute any of my claims, and I guess I have 2x 2080 super for artistic value?
@Quix who’s insulting who? I’ve played the game and in apex you’re not just buying skins, you’re buying classes. Some classes specials are more useful than others, and it just so happens that the free characters are basically useless. CoD has the same problem, though less of it since you can skip the grind by paying, plenty of games do this. to take offense at this fact is fanboyism. so you also shouldn’t be blinded.
@DeclanS98 By this logic a game that allows you to play any amount of time then charge a lot to continue is still f2p. Every f2p game is free, yet p2w is still a thing. And I don’t play warframe, but if payment is required to play on the same level as those not paying, even if the benefit is slight, it’s not free. further your logic misunderstands the purpose of it being f2p. You need players to make your game playable, especially in a BR. to get players in you make it free, so by you playing you’re actually donating time to help them create the game environment for others to play in the first place. so, no, not free. if you enjoy the game then cool, don’t be blinded by fanboyism though
@DeclanS98 sure and then you’re stuck with a small set of “classes” (why does an fps have a class system anyway?) until you fork over or play for some time (a lot, comparatively) to unlock more. And some of the class specials are just useless, making the game have a p2w element to it. So no, it’s not really free. I agree with the other opinions in this thread saying the same, this game is horrible and I very much doubt it will look and play well at all, especially given fortnite has a substantially lower poly budget and it looks and runs like crap on the switch.
@TechaNinja @StefanN Yea this is definitely not switch footage. Given the camera sequences this is a sequence in UE4, which means it’s rendering on cinematic quality on a PC.
Hmm, I don’t particularly agree with the no builds part, and it would be interesting to know what difficulty you played on, as gear in apocalypse is different than that in default. Use the mushroom artefact with a fast attack weapon that has radiance and some armor that focuses on artefact refresh for instance. It is definitely not as customizable as PoE or even D3 however. That I would definitely agree with.
I agree that there’s not much content atm, but this is mojang and they hold onto games for a while. They have a solid, simple and very extensible foundation to build on for years to come now.
@sixrings it doesn’t make much sense now on the switch but eventually it will. the reason is character syncing. you can’t connect to a local wireless and online at the same time, so there would be no way to sync your character. with minecraft this didn’t matter because the data is stored on the switch and not some servers.
@beazlen1 Digital games also require a cert, which expires. So at some point your games will stop working without a mod. Further if you have multiple systems the non-primary consoles must “phone home” every few hours while playing. None of this will work when the servers are killed without mods.
@Araquanid Team Xecutor has been around for a while, I had one for the original xbox so I could install a larger HDD, install games to the HDD and play halo online before xbox live was a thing.
@JimmySpades hmm. So I’m a digital only person, and at some point nintendo is going to shut down the servers at some point. How will I download games? If I could copy what I have now and back it up on my NAS then this would protect my legal purchase of these games. Now likely I will have moved onto Nintendo’s next system by then, but this is the first valid use case.
Second use case, I’m a programmer and would like to correct the auto syncing issue. I have two switches and I want the same save data on both consoles such that I pick up one and go. If Nintendo can’t give me this I can, and will happily.
Third use case, indie dev. While it’s easier these day, getting a switch dev unit is costly and if you’re starting from nothing you have to make 3ds games first or present a game idea to Nintendo prior to being given access to buy dev units. After you have access they cost around $450 iirc which, while not a huge amount, is still a significant amount for many.
Also you’re using the wrong word. A hacker is a programmer. It means someone hacking at a keyboard. A cracker is one breaking programs and operating system protections.
@Heavyarms55 I still remember a few months back you calling me racist for calling Japan’s desire to keep the Olympics greedy. Now you’re taking offense at this articles title yet claim exactly what I said, greed is a human thing. Interesting.
@graysoncharles UE5 looks more scalable than UE4. In UE4 you have to reduce render resolution to get performance out of it on the switch. With UE5 you could just reduce poly count and with it optimizing draw calls the performance could well be better on switch than with UE4. Nanite is going to be very interesting
@UmbreonsPapa Sure I’ll try again. Perhaps weakness isn’t the correct word so this could part of the misconception. Most (all?) people have various triggers that will almost certainly guarantee some benefit to someone if triggered properly and in the right context. You’ve likely seen these in F2P mobile games but they affect all aspects of society and (unfortunately) is more often than not used for financial gain. Business even research how to more effectively extract revenue using emotional tactics. You see it everyday. These are the weakness I’m referring too and can vary from person to person, and again that may not be the correct word. Now this is the important part, a person realizing these “weaknesses” and using them for financial gain is morally unacceptable to me. Some streamers, including both men and women, have done exactly this. Sometimes is playing on a lonely person (male or female), other times it’s claiming you’re handicap when you’re really not. What I’m not saying that most people seem to be insinuating is that if some person falls in love without manipulation and then by their own will starts forking over money then obviously the person who’s the focus of the love is not at fault.
@SilentHunter382 Why is this Epic’s fault though? The publisher is not forced to use Epic, but from their perspective it’s better than Steam (percentage taken is less or zero). If you don’t want to use Epic that’s fine but I’m not sure why they are the focus.
@Phostachio Also FWIW I had to dig around to find the tweets (and only saw one, but that was enough) and completely agree they were in appropriate. It was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. I am not defending them in any way.
@Phostachio Not at all, in fact I’m not even saying anybody in particular is a victim. Just that both parties are equally at fault. The weakness is not an attraction to women. My statement was that attraction to women is natural for a heterosexual male. That doesn’t imply any specific beauty standards or anything more than hetero men find women attractive. The weakness, of you want to call it that (note that I was giving a pure definition of manipulation) is whatever the reasoning may be for a man to want a particular woman’s attention. Be it beauty, personality, whatever. Realizing a trigger in a particular person and exercising for personal gain is manipulation and further other streamers on the service do this as well for other reasons. For example, extracting money from people for fictitious ailments or diseases.
@TheFullAndy here we go twisting words again. my turn. by your logic i should never find a woman attractive. nobody should. women shouldn’t find men attractive. procreation should stop. the human race should die because men find women attractive and literally worse than murdering baby seals using another baby seal as a bludgeoning stick. everyone should be eunuchs. this is what you sound like. very accurate. also take your own advice and seek help
@Phostachio I don’t know who is shaming who here. I don’t do it and I’ll have no part of it. If I witness shaming of any kind I’ll be all over that person before you can blink. Calling them out for manipulation is not shaming. Stereotyping and assuming people here do shame without evidence is just plain wrong and only serves agendas. Also if someone uses a weakness of another for personal gain this most definitely is manipulation.
@TheFullAndy nope that’s not at all what I sound like, you’re changing my words to match your narrative. My statements were and only are women are not innocent and I’m tired of the man bashing for finding women attractive. It’s not a crime, it’s natural.
@Phostachio eh, no this is a baiting comment. you can be aware of the problem and not watch them. i was pretty heavily involved in twitch and the community at the time and every twitchcon most of the girls are dressed to show as much skin as possible and call it cosplay. it became such a problem on camera twitch had to enforce a dress code for them. further most of them try to hide the fact that they are in a relationship to manipulate further. it’s pure manipulation and men easily fall for it unfortunately. and back to the original point they shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. if you think it’s acceptable for a woman to show herself off but not for a man to want to see a woman showing herself off then you have a double standard or some other motives
@gameboy1975 I’ll never forget what someone posted in my stream chat back when i streamed on twitch, “finally someone actually playing the game instead of hanging out trying to show off their goods”. this was ~2 years ago now and just keeps getting worse.
@danemord This is the first I’ve heard of issues with nurses in Sweden (beautiful country btw), so I can’t comment there. As for the other part of it, it’s important to remember that companies need to keep operating to keep revenue coming to keep paying not only their bills but their employees. Unfortunately this means business as usual and can be taken as a company not acknowledging COVID. I work for one of the largest companies in the world atm, and I can say they stopped our travel around 2-3 weeks before COVID really started taking off here simply because we said we were worried. This decision affected some 5000 employees (were the only ones that travel) globally and many many customers and cost them money in the long run. Lastly it’s important to remember that you will get likely get COVID. These lockdowns were not meant to stop COVID but instead control how many people get it at once, so our medical services don’t get overwhelmed.
@iMarkU I’m a dev, and have worked remotely most of my career so perhaps I do take the discipline required for granted. I agree that ultimately it doesn’t matter why it was delayed. Personally I’m not playing this game but for those who are I understand the beta didn’t go so well and that there may be some concerns and I feel those fans should be told by the company if they’re addressing the issues. “Our beta wasn’t so good guys, we gotta fix some stuff so it runs better, brb” sounds more human than “COVID delayed our game.”
@iMarkU there are some very large companies rolling out large capital projects despite people working from home. i don’t buy it either. Further this entire COVID thing shows extensively that we actually don’t need to be in offices anymore.
@Yas the cart slot is already taken by the one physical game I don’t have digital (Zelda). I could definitely fit more if I get a larger luggage set but Im already at the limit for carryons. Currently I have to carry about a week of business type clothes, 2-3 laptops (2 of which are 15”), toiletries, etc. Granted this was all pre-COVID lol
I’m all digital, except for 1 cart (which Im going to buy digital eventually). I travel a lot for work and have 84 games (just counted). Carrying this many with me, or even a single extra game is a major inconvenience. I missed letting people borrow games a couple times, but most of the people ended up buying it anyways so in the end it didn’t really matter for me. I see this more as a hinderance for kids passing games around in groups at school (this is what my classmates did in GB/GBC/GBA era) more than anything.
@sanderev Notice the article said UK. In most of the US said plant is completely legal. Also I hope you know that that natural plant, when smoked, decreases blood flow to your brain. It quite literally makes you dumb. Guns on the other hand are legally protected at a federal level. They are primarily a check/balance against our government (read they get too out of control we take them back) and secondarily for our protection.
@tabris95 I definitely agree that it looks that way, but what I’m seeing is a kid trying to get his name out there in some way. In programming you don’t particularly need a degree, just a way to prove that you can write code. This bot he wrote serves that perfectly and showcases his understanding of some more advanced concepts you wouldn’t expect to see at his skill level. He will likely get a job, scholarship or internship based solely on this bots existence. I got started in this field doing exactly this, except in my case it was a MTGO trading bot.
@tabris95 that doesn't say he was using it, it says him and his friends were joking about reselling switches and that they needed a bot to be able to buy them in the first place. and he jokingly created a bot to do this. perhaps a bad joke but this is quite different than actually doing it.
@SwitchForce first I never said the existence of a tool gives you the right to abuse a tool, that's putting words in my mouth. to give you some perspective on how ridiculous the manufacturer of tools being held responsible for their tools sounds, lets get some perspective. in the computing world there exists many programs that allow people to exploit or hack other computers. obviously these are dangerous in the wrong hands but they still exist. by your logic any illegal attacks made with these tools should be the responsibility of the author. now what this means is that these tools will then never be created, and therefore sane people cannot use these tools to protect themselves. also imagine if the manufacturer of a hammer were responsible for all murders committed with their hammers. it is not the fault of the tool creator with an intended use in mind if someone uses it in another way. further writing a law to prohibit misuse of a tool is incredibly difficult to write. this is a heated and active topic in computer science atm and courts have already decided this.
as far as social security goes, is there a link describing this process? all i can do is give up my social security number and citizenship, which is not going to happen (especially given i'm a veteran)
@tabris95 happen to have a link? NL didn't link to any previous article and every reference both here and on the articles referenced in this article say things like "caused hoarding" and "fueled hoarders"
@tabris95 nope scalping is not fine but who's forcing you to buy a switch at these high prices? and if you feel nobody but nintendo should profit from switch sales, then we already have a problem as shipping companies, manufacturing facilities, sales channels all profit from a switch sale. why aren't we raging at nintendo for not charging exactly what it costs to make the switch? why are we not raging at the extreme markup for digital game sales?
@Heavyarms55 actually since his he didn’t sell anything his motive was likely “i want a switch” or “my niece / nephew wants a switch”. what a horrible person making a bot to help people snipe a switch and releasing it for free. perhaps he’s racist against japanese?
@tabris95 why put the limit there? if people are willing to pay it then why not make the sale? nobody is forcing you to purchase it at this price and it’s not a requirement for life. manufacturers themselves enjoy markup above 25% of cost but it’s only them that can make a profit? if we limited nintendo’s cost to 25% over cost we’d be at a lower price point for MSRP but nobody is rioting there.

Re: Ninjala Gets Delayed Until Next Month Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak
@iMarkU I’m a dev, and have worked remotely most of my career so perhaps I do take the discipline required for granted. I agree that ultimately it doesn’t matter why it was delayed. Personally I’m not playing this game but for those who are I understand the beta didn’t go so well and that there may be some concerns and I feel those fans should be told by the company if they’re addressing the issues. “Our beta wasn’t so good guys, we gotta fix some stuff so it runs better, brb” sounds more human than “COVID delayed our game.”
Re: Ninjala Gets Delayed Until Next Month Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak
@iMarkU there are some very large companies rolling out large capital projects despite people working from home. i don’t buy it either. Further this entire COVID thing shows extensively that we actually don’t need to be in offices anymore.
Re: Nintendo Earned Almost $2 Billion In Digital Sales This Year, A 72% Yearly Increase
Re: Nintendo Earned Almost $2 Billion In Digital Sales This Year, A 72% Yearly Increase
Re: Random: Animal Crossing Players Are Getting In Trouble On Facebook For Talking About Weeds
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
@tabris95 that doesn't say he was using it, it says him and his friends were joking about reselling switches and that they needed a bot to be able to buy them in the first place. and he jokingly created a bot to do this. perhaps a bad joke but this is quite different than actually doing it.
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
@tabris95 happen to have a link? NL didn't link to any previous article and every reference both here and on the articles referenced in this article say things like "caused hoarding" and "fueled hoarders"
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
@Heavyarms55 actually since his he didn’t sell anything his motive was likely “i want a switch” or “my niece / nephew wants a switch”. what a horrible person making a bot to help people snipe a switch and releasing it for free. perhaps he’s racist against japanese?
Re: Creator Of New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Discusses Backlash
