Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Explains Why the Pro Controller Trumps the GamePad in Devil's Third

raghouse

  1. 1 The spacing on the gamepad and pro controller are the same but the buttons are closer to the edge of the pad. With bigger hands the pro controller is more comfortable.
  2. 2 The analog sticks are the same on each. I've ad some trouble with the durability of them and have had to replace a set on the gamepad.
  3. 3 Not to mention the shortish battery life of the gamepad. By the way I've never run out of batteries on the Pro Controller even with it just sitting out for a long time. Amazing battery life.

In a game that offers little use of the gamepadscreen, the pro controller is my preferred way to game on the Wii U. It is one of the best controllers I've ever used. Better than the Xbox 360 controller and slightly better than the PS3. However, I do think this is an excuse as to why he didn't add gamepad support. The real reason likely is that he didn't have the funding and the manpower to put a strong effort into gamepad development. I bet it would have been useful in the fort building aspect of the multiplayer. I'm still looking forward to this game.

Re: Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Nintendo's NX, But It Does Matter

I strongly believe that a big reason for Nintendo to release consoles that are somewhat under powered is to make development costs attractive to Japanese games developers. Cutting edge games are getting ridiculously expensive to develop games for. The best bet for attracting 3rd parties is to make the system easy to port games to from PC and other consoles.

@AlexSora89
Even back in the day of the Capcom 5 the 'mature' games didn't sell as well as Nintendo's other IPs so they tend to disappear. I don't think that Nintendo will gain a lot of gamers back with a focus on mature games as its competitors already do that to a great deal. Nintendo is going to win the most fans by releasing polished, quality, family friendly games. Splatoon looks to bring a great game to the shooter crowd that is family friendly. While LEGO City Undercover brought GTA like gameplay to the family. I like that Nintendo is a bit more family friendly system overall, but I do worry that exclusive mature games will disappear from its systems all together.

Re: Nintendo and Philips Sign Global Patent License Agreement to Resolve Dispute Over Wii Technology

This time it includes the rights for Phillips to make 3 Metroid video games and a Zelda animated series. The spokesperson for Phillips indicated that "We wish to take Samus in the direction of a live action soap opera raising a baby metroid. The trilogy would focus on the daily challenges an intergalactic bodyguard single mom would face in caring for her child while trying to find time to incinerate space pirates and brain sucking space creatures. We feel that we will be able to take Samus's character in directions that she had nev...uh...been only once before."

Re: Capcom Won't Greenlight Sequels If A Game Doesn't Sell Over Two Million Copies

raghouse

The Wind Waker HD remake has sold roughly only 2 million copies when you included both physical and downloadable versions. Capcom expecting a repackage of two Darkstalkers games to sell this much via download only is just plain delusional.
Moving the Resident Evil Revelations series away from the DS will probably be a mistake too.
The videogame industry is an extremely difficult industry to be successful in right now. You really have to be on your game with business decisions to make it anymore. I just don't see Capcom having the leadership to make it much longer. They will be sold off to someone else before too long. Lets just hope the new owner will be able to restore some of the former magic the company had.

Re: Devil's Third

I hate to say it. But this will probably be the next Madworld. A game that is unique and fun but underloved. I love Nintendo for it's family friendly games when the kids are up but I'm glad that a game like this is coming out. A more 'mature' game to call our own.

Re: Official Nintendo Magazine Announces Closure in the UK

I''m from the USA and I've been a subscriber for the last two years. They were very good and had comprehensive reviews on every single game released on Nintendo platforms including the classic game eshop releases. Definitely a better magazine than Nintendo Power was at the time of its demise. I think it is the last of the Nintendo magazines in English. I was hoping they could make it to 2015 because that looks to become the Wii U's golden year.

Re: Capcom Is Suing Koei Tecmo For Patent Infringement, Looking For $9.43 million Settlement

raghouse

So Capcom waits 12 years and claims 50 games infringe on their patent. Even if there is patent infringement Capcom should only get money for 1 game. All of the games after that they should only get anything if they notified Tecmo-Koei of the patent infringement and Tecmo-Koei didn't take steps to correct the problem. This is like a woman that waits until a child is 18 then wants back child support for 18 years.

According to TreeFall Studios youtube channel autosaving, a new start screen (with continue option), and increased detail on the levels has already been added to the game (version 1.1)

I loved this at the arcade when I was a kid. I also had the pack-in when I bought the Sega Genesis on launch day (the only system I ever got on launch). I think I'll have to get this as well.

Re: Review: Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures (Wii U)

@Gnoll
The arcade games within are new games that resemble old arcade games. There is a Defender type game, a Scramble like game, Tanks in a maze game, and one where you fly through a tubular environment dodging cars and shooting ghosts. The last one is probably the most fun as it has the greatest challenge.

Playing the game now. Very solid platforming with decent variety. My only real complaint is that textures are reused a little too often giving a bit of a budget feel. The Aztec themed levels are downright great. I just wish the fire, ice, and city levels were as inspired.

Re: Review: Bike Rider DX (3DS eShop)

This reminds me of an updated version of the best and most underappreciated Atari 2600 game of all time, the BMX bike event from California Games. In fact, the Atari version was more fun than any of the other more powerful systems. I'll have to pick this one up for nostalgia.
