Re: Broadmoor Inmates Receive Wiis

longtimegamer

Someones got a screw loose over there and it's not just the the inmates apparently. If they have people like that locked up in there they are too dangerous to let out. Why would they want to rehabilitate them and how is Wii fit going to do that?
Soo...let me get this straight, if you kill somebody you get rewarded?

@ch405k1n6- No need to be rude. If you don't like their griping just ignore it or at least comment in a way that's not so rude.
Also probably shouldn't be using that sort of language here or calling the "W" word towards others. There are kids here too and others who may be affended by that.

Re: Electronic Arts Less Than Happy With Wii Sales

longtimegamer

@Hardy: I was thinking the same thing about pricing. I didn't think of it only being Wii though.
I'm the same. I hardly ever fork out the money for a full priced game. I want my moneys worth. These companies must be doing better on the other systems right? Probably one reason is because there's not so many casuals. Plus games like DS:E may be seen as inferior because they think its a port. Also Some may be turned off by rail shooter or think that you can't get your moneys worth at 40-50 dollars. If I had a Ps3 or 360, there usual price of almost $60 would make me want to wait on price drops for alot of them. It's funny if that doesn't effect most others who own them.
Also, does anyone think that wiiware and/or VC might affecting these at all?
I think the thing with Nintendo is alot of people figue they can trust the quality of their game and what you get for it. Thats probably one reason why they do so well over the 3rd party.

Edit: I just thought of a reason that makes sense. Maybeit's because of the amount of low priced games we have. Like the shovelware for one. Also How many games have come out at 30- 40 dollars? People probably are less likely to spend 50 on a game because of this.(how much did DS:E cost when it was first out? ohe reason anyway.

Re: Pixmania: Wiimote Tech Is "Endangered"

longtimegamer

It seems to me that blueray is indeed gaining ground. Seemed to be alot at a local bestbuy. I hope blueray players can still play regular dvds.
As for Natal. I'd love to check it out....of course I don't own a 360 yet. It's an add-on right? (I thought it wasn't a new console.

@Corb: I tried a mouse for apple that scrolled with no wheel. Just had to run my finger down it. Cool mouse.

Re: Pixmania: Wiimote Tech Is "Endangered"

longtimegamer

Natal may be cool, but if I'm playing something that involves me holding something in a game (like gun, steering wheel, sword, etc...) I think it's more immersive to feel something in your hand too while you're playing.
By the way, i think Natal would be even better and more immersive if they had VR googles/glasses for it. That way you could see the screen at all times while physically looking down or behind you. They'd just have to worry about people bumping into things or tripping.

Re: Competitions: Win a DSi and Nostalgia!

longtimegamer

@Ezekiel: She would want to enter too, for the dsi at least. alright? We aren't married yet (wont be for a long while) and we don't live together. So she would want a chance to win it herself.
I just asked to make sure. At least i asked. Could have just done it and nobody would know, but we haven't. Going to do the right thing and ask.

Re: Review: Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem (WiiWare)

These graphics aren't blocky (Sorry Gabbo but I disagree. Where in the game are you seeing that? Also of course you can't see some well. They're far away). Just so people don't get the wrong idea (I liked how the Giant fish boss looked in particular). It's not on rails and, as Jbrodack said, it's basically a game that plays in the same style as the game Cabal.
The destructable scenery in any single level can change too, like ferns on dinosaur levels may be in different place.
@Gabbo: I wonder if saying this is a brainless shooter will turn people off of this?
*Also, while it's true you can shoot and destroy any and everything, (just about) you still have to decide when to pick up powerups and who to hit first. Some enemys (The close ones?) have shots that get to you quicker so I try to make them a priority. (At the fish boss level, you have to watch and figure out how it's going to attack (it moves different sometimes).
So, you like hostages and people getting in the way? You don't find them annoying?
@Starkiller: It's decent enough. It's definatly not bad. Good challange. I don't know how "difficult" Easy was, but I beat normal, it can be tough, and I spent most of the day since "around" noon trying to beat hard and got stuck playing the first part of the midievil level over and over (cause on hard, that one sucks butt!)

@12: What makes you think this was generous?

@rorro44: Yeah, the name does suck. If I was the Lone Rangers sidekick, I might be offended. I

Re: Be a PAL - Become a Connection Ambassador

The problem with this is that you may have the very people you try to get online trying to do this offer too. So they may take the ones you take you "could" have got online giving you less opportunity to achieve your own goal.

Re: Nintendo Download: Winds, Warriors, Dinosaurs and Domo-kun (US)

longtimegamer

Ummm, ok.......whatever. (Superman)

Brandonwii: Thanks for mentioning that. I just looked at part of a video for this. I wonder if its from the same people who made Crimsom land/or Crimson(something like that). I played a trail version of crimsom land and if this is from those guys, i'll be happy. It seems to have the same upgrade thing going on.

Re: Call of Duty Comparison Shots Don't Do The Wii Any Favours

longtimegamer

@Sean: I think so too. sure graphics for the other systems are fantastic (as to be expected) be the wii graphics aren't ugly. They're fine (some jaggys on the copters in one pict). I think people who complain about this are either spoiled or trying to start something. Its not like they're N64 graphics. then i could see complaints. Wii graphics wii can produce are fine, sure they're not as detailed, and not as super real, but that doesn't make them terrible. Highly annoying to hear people act like this when it comes to the wii graphics, jeesh.

Edit: OMG!! 360/PS3's graphics are better than wiis!! so whats the news?? They better be considering how powerful they are. Would be news if it were the other way around.
Are these guys trying to be d*cks? (Gameinformer that is)

Re: Review: Gravitronix (WiiWare)

longtimegamer

I Agree with Jbrodack and Bass X0: These guys really cared about this game and put alot of effort into it. It therefore should not deserve the term shovelware. It may not be great and they made mistakes, but they were genuinely interested in making a good, fun, and entertaining game.
I feel bad for J (in particular), but as others pointed out he handled it well and in both a humble and dignified way, very commendable. (Very sorry for the harsh and insensitive comments toward you too.)

Re: Review: MechAssault: Phantom War (DS)

longtimegamer

Well At least you didn't waste any money on it.
You've been pretty decent about this. Sorry if I may have been less so. Maybe I should have said nothing, or said it in a more diplomatic way.
Thanks for both of your responses.

Re: Review: MechAssault: Phantom War (DS)

longtimegamer

@MJRyder: Thanks for responding. I get that you were disappointed in it, possibly more so because your a fan and possibly feel that these games should be up to a certain standard. You thought it was boring, so, that's your opinion. As you said there may be others who will like it, and as someone else said everyone has different tastes. A problem i had was that this review seemed overwelmingly negetive. You said, "the game is solid enough". Ok, so how is it solid?
Sorry to sound like I'm getting on you. I'm just pointing out that the main thing that I got from this review was that you thought it was boring and hard (and you did say why), but it it would have nice to see some of the positives.
I know I wanted people to know that some people had a different opinion. I do think that it was good (for you) to warn people about the parts that may turn them off, though, but basically the only positive comment (sort of) I read about this game was the controls. (see what I'm saying?) You say "it isn't a bad game per say" and "the game is solid enough", *Well...How is it solid? What makes it not a "bad game per say"? You don't really get anything from this that supports these statement in your review. It's frustrating because, if it does have some redeeming qualitys its not really shown in the review, though the negatives are abundently clear.

  • (Sorry to sound like a rant. Just wanted to point out some of these things.*
one more thing: What would you have rated this when it came out? That might be helpful. (no sarcasm).
Thanks for your reply in advance.
Actually, one MORE thing, I'm not going to keep doing this to you, so don't worry. I think I got out what I wanted to say. I hope you take some of this feedback in a possitive way. Hope it helps. Reviewings hard. I'm not sure how I'd fair at it. (It took me a loooooong time (and some revisions) just in my last reply to you.
Thanks for reviewing this. I need to find a copy that's in good shape. I'll take my chances with this if it's cheap.

PS: I could erase this, if you like, after you see it. Just ask. Would pribably have been better to be able to reply to this privately.
By the way....did you get rid of this game?

Re: Review: MechAssault: Phantom War (DS)

longtimegamer

MickeyYea: Yeah I know about opinions. Just made the comment. I THOUGHT some people liked it, thats why I looked at metacritic to check (I'd been wanting to get this sometime). And yes it's wise to read more than one review before you dismiss or buy something. That's what I was trying to impress in them. It's annoying to see someone not try a game based on one persons review. Like you said, Its a matter of taste, and if they are wise they'll realize this and not take it as law that they will or willnot like it based on one persons opinion.

Edit: I've played both the XBOX ones. Good games in my opinion. Thanks for your feeling on the ds game too. Nice to know you enjoyed it.

Re: Review: MechAssault: Phantom War (DS)

longtimegamer

@everyone so far: This reviewer gave this a 4, but some others gave it higher: 70s and some 80s. Sounds like you are juat blindly taking one persons opinion as the end all opinion. You should look at many reviews to get a better idea how different people feel about it. Apparently some actually enjoyed it a bit more than Michael did (no offense Michael.)

@Michael: I know there are things that you didn't like about this, but what did you like? Also (I already found out), but for people who haven't played this, how many playable mech/vehicles are there? There was vehicle hyjacking too, how was that? What about multiplayer? In piloting the mechs did they handle differently? What's the replay value? Is there any re0lay value in the main game?

Re: Review: MechAssault: Phantom War (DS)

longtimegamer

Wow. I had to look at other reviewer scores on Metacritic, because I thought it was supposed to be a decent game (haven't played yet) and found out out that this, at least, did indeed have a good or decent score from some other reviewers. It's interesting how something can get such good scores by some reviewers, but somehow suck to some. (still got to read the whole review though). I'll more than likely still be getting this when i can find one with book and case around here.
