Impressive debut!

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

To say it was an impressive week for new debuts on the Top 20 would be an understatement. Not only did we see a whopping four new titles pop up onto the chart, but one shot straight to #1 in its original week of release. Excitebike: World Rally wasted absolutely no time in rocketing up to the #1 spot and while it wasn't its original week of release for Carnival King, it still managed an impressive debut all the way up in the #3 spot. Even Frogger Returns managed to make it onto the Top 20 in its original week of release, debuting at #8 this week.

The big climber this week was easily Carnival King, which shot up from off the chart last week, all the way up to the #3 spot. The big droppers this week were Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3 and Shootanta: Evolutionary Mayhem, both of which fell six spots to #13 and #19 respectively.

Of course with the amazing four debuts this week of new titles on the Top 20 we did see four drop off. Word Searcher, Family Mini Golf, Driift Mania, and the original LostWinds all fell off of the chart this week. We also saw LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias enjoy a very short stay in the #1 spot. Could this be another one of those titles that comes on strong and fades fast? We'll just have to wait and see.
