@UmbreonsPapa Don't forget Universal also happens to run the theme parks where Mario and company are getting into the ride business. Almost like they planned this Saw the first odd piece of Mario merchandise at Universal Orlando last weekend
Here's a spoiler. Great sky Island is way too spread out for a tutorial, especially when link can sprint for, like, 0.02 seconds at the start of the game.
@Cashews Oh, man. Fingers crossed . They did okay for me with Splatoon 3, but that's the only pre-order I've made in a long time! And I'm guessing TOTK is on a whole different level with volume of orders.
Finally having a go at an old Switch favorite, Loop Hero, that I've meant to play since release. Showed up on Game Pass this week. Checking out Mario movie as well.
As explained so far, wave 1 is awesome as an update to the $60 game I paid for. As paid DLC it comes off as a cash grab. I'm hopeful wave 2 is as solid as Octo but that's the impression wave 1 gives me.
At this point in the Switch life cycle, the only games I'll pay $70 for are TotK and a new 3D Mario. But as someone else mentioned, won't that be a kick in the teeth if TotK launches at $70 with a planned $$ DLC to access the rest of the game!
@larryisaman Same here. Really enjoyed the visuals and the mood they helped set. Not so much the gameplay, so I wouldn't recommend a purchase on Switch.
@PinderSchloss Yep. Totally sick of the DLC at launch BS. Aclt least pretend it's 'extra' content and not, you know, the 2nd half of the game you're charging full price for.
@Pod Ha! I thought the same thing. Obviously trying to cut expenses but if they had that little faith that those games weren't going to drive revenue should have canned them well before this point. Perhaps that's the whole problem.
1st Mario and Rabbids was super good, but it was kind of a nice surprise. No reason to think the 2nd was going to pay for annual bonuses at chez ubi. Sounds like there was a lot of hopeful thinking among the planners
Seems I didn't play too many new 1st party/exclusives this year. Looks like Splat 3 and Kart DLC. Top 5 from this list Splat, Persona, Tinykin, Nobody Saves, and It Takes Two (latter on Xbox, though; port loses a lot)
Slow roll on Persona 5 continues. More Vampire Survivors. Some Splatoon 3. And I'll pick Dead Cells back up to check out the second indie wave dlc! The DC devs continue to amaze.
Remember waiting in a toy store as a kid for a couple hours for Atari 2600 Pac Man to arrive. Neighborhood lost its mind when we brought it home. Funny thing is it thqt game alone probably set my folks back $50 back in early 80s.

Love the NES box art. And Kung Fu was the jam.

Re: Poll: Goats Or Lizards? What Do You Think Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Zonai Look Like?
@blindsquarel Too funny.
Re: Feature: 7 Things From Zelda: TOTK's First Hours That Had Us Grinning Like Mad
Opening black screens with the small print Nintendo Presents cards. Legendary! Like they were calling their GOTY shot straight out of the gate.
Re: Soapbox: If Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Isn’t Switch’s Swan Song, It Really Should Be
It would certainly be the most fitting and elegant exit for Switch. Almost too perfect.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
Here's hoping Amazon Prime doesn't disappoint. And delivers early in the day before the daughter gets out of school (to give me a head start).
Re: Review: Disney Speedstorm - Great Courses And Characters, But Stutters On Switch
Super karting, quite artistic, FPS atrocious.

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 8th February
Can't wait. The Xbox Direct stealth drop of HI Fi Rush was fantastic, but hopefully the OG Direct shows the kids how it's done even bigger. snap

Re: Celeste Gets Beautiful New Collector's Edition For Fifth Anniversary
LOVE the game.
Re: Talking Point: What Is The Most Frustrated You've Ever Been With A Video Game?
Horace - DayOff arcade competition. Hate quit and watched the rest of the game on YouTube. Also, ET. Also all of Mario Sunshine.

Back to Splat to check out the update. Also giving Gears Tactics a try on the S. Loved X-com and this is 1st Gears of any type for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 26th)
Same as last - Persona 5 and Vampire Survivors. Throw in some Tunic, though. Not as huge a fan of Tunic as most, but it's growing on me.

Vampire Freakin' Survivors. Crazy addictive.
Re: Review: Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration - A Painstaking Love Letter To Gaming's Pioneers
@rockodoodle Same. 2 minutes of nostalgia but nothing compels me to play 2600 games for longer than that.
